Things that catch my eye -
July 2018 Exhibits and information at the Mexico City Museum of Anthropology
For my exam I cut a roll of stiff material into strips and used a glue gun to attach two lines of wire on the underside of each strip, this would allow me to manipulate the material and bend it into circular shapes. Wanting to recreate the curved structure from the exhibition, i bent these strips around the bodice and attached them at the corners to create smooth curves. I then cut longer strips of the material and repeated the process of sticking the wire onto the underside. I then chose a stiffer material and cut out semi-circles before gluing them on the strips in rows. Like tentacles, I placed these at the base of the bodice and wrapped them around the lower half of the figure. In a similar fashion to Iris Van Herpen, I created a pattern by repeating the rows of curves and made a costume which is modern and flows. I feel that my exam piece is a good resolution to my futuristic research and has helped me to analyse key aspects of my project such as curves and layers as well as understand the fluidity of Nordic design.

"Exploring Epoxy Resin: A Journey Through Material and Form"
Materials: epoxy resin, acrylic sheets, LED light strip
"This project is an ongoing material experiment, exploring how epoxy resin can break free from its traditionally rigid state. I focused on its elasticity during the curing process and how it could be manipulated through different forming and weaving techniques to push the material’s structural and formal possibilities.
In this process, I utilized the temporary softness of semi-cured epoxy resin to weave and shape it, allowing flexibility during formation before it hardens into an irreversible structure. This technique not only reinforces the material but also highlights its transformation from flexibility to rigidity. The two exhibited pieces remain prototypes rather than finished works, as I am still refining the weaving technique to improve structural strength and stability, preventing fragility and breakage.
This process captures the tension between control and unpredictability, embracing material transformation as an essential part of creation."
I was given this project while at Camberwell and in the midst of contemplating my Dreams project, so they virtually link together. I was given a list of words and was told I had to ‘create’ one, and so I chose the word ‘magic’. I wanted to explore the original context of what magic is, taking ideas from Greek myth. I created a concertina book with the Greek God Pan at the beginning playing his flute creating this magical world. Unfortunately, I was unable to include this image as it was difficult to show the front cover. I wanted to demonstrate the four elements Earth, Fire, Air and Water in each scene. Much of the ancient Greek’s thought and culture was based on the four elements and this understanding carried on into the Middle Ages and beyond. Drawn with ink pen on treated paper.
