Maple tree in full autumn glory.

This maple tree along Wood Road was sensational in the think fog! Had to stop and get this one! My trusty cell phone never lets me down!

Most of the maple trees in Shepherd are tapped each year to gather sap to produce syrup for the town's annual festival in April.

"If you look closely at a tree you'll notice it's knots and dead branches,

just like our bodies. What we learn is that beauty and imperfection go together wonderfully."

My mom always called these whirligigs. When they fall off the maple tree they spin like airplane blades. I took this in the Healing Garden.

Froghopper from behind. Isn't he beautiful?

I like the plastic racks they have to hold the pots upright.

The beautiful silver maple tree in my neighbor's yard is at the peak of its color for this year, on October 26. I thought the sky was especially nice when I shot this.

Smoke Tree Flame is a stunning medium sized shrub. The rounded foliage of mid green is highlighted by feathery plumes of silvery white in summer. This spectacular deciduous shrub changes into glowing tones of red and orange as Autumn approaches.

Wandiligong is a town in north-eastern Victoria in the alpine region around 330 kilometres from Melbourne. Established in the 1850s as part of the Victorian Gold Rush, Wandiligong became a hub for many gold miners, including a large Chinese community. At its peak, the town was home to over two thousand inhabitants and boasted shops, churches, a public library, halls and even an hotel. Much has changed since those heady days of the gold rush, and the picturesque town nestled in a valley and built around the Morses Creek, is now a sleepy little town full of picturesque houses which are often let to visitors to the area. The whole town is registered with the National Trust of Australia for its historic landscape and buildings of historic value.

The maple tree is showing off her orange leaves....many have dropped and soon there will be none. But today there was this burst of color in the midst of a steady downpour.

These trees were already several metres tall when we moved in in 1989.

I probably should have taken these photos a week earlier but it was pouring last week. ;)

I love maple trees and I have decided to visually monitor the changing colours of this one, something I used to do as a child, collecting their leaves week after week

every once in a while, a picture comes out of the camera in a perfect state - no post-editing required except to find a creative way to incorporate my watermark

From Hale Reservation on the 20th. I always love catching these overhanging branches when they're at the height of the color change.
