It is quite rare to have a Red-winged Blackbird visit my backyard. So when this one arrived, I had to capture some photos of it before it decided to leave.
I believe this is a youngster that was in the neighborhood visiting a small marshy pond at another residence nearby. That pond attracts a lot of birds.
I had heard it calling several times before and after this particular day. I've not seen it or any others since, so I'm guessing it decided to move to bigger and better water in another location.
This maple tree along Wood Road was sensational in the think fog! Had to stop and get this one! My trusty cell phone never lets me down!
Most of the maple trees in Shepherd are tapped each year to gather sap to produce syrup for the town's annual festival in April.
"If you look closely at a tree you'll notice it's knots and dead branches,
