An old friend who is a professional gardener called today to ask if I would like a gift of a Japanese Maple tree (acer palmatum - www.google.com/search?hl=en&sugexp=epsu1r&tok=YxA... ) because he is moving. He has always raised it in a pot and its now almost 7 feet tall. We made a nice space for it and talked about getting it into the ground pretty soon. I missed all the moments with my camera of Wiki getting to know the tree. The gently decaying wicker chair belongs to Wiki now and I'm going to dump dirt on it and plant a bunch of flower seeds when the weather gets warm enough. The tree is in a perfect location now and I'm so glad its here. My friend says it needs some protection from the wind and plenty of sun, both of which are available right in that spot.

Beautiful rural road. This white barn could use some paint but local farmers are not always flush with funds to maintain the property as well as they would like. The trees on this old farm were tall and beautiful.

This one might've gotten a little frost bit. The norways in my yard have full size leaves on them, as does most of the woods and trail.

This tree is also in my way. It swishes against me as I walk by. Also notice the angle it's growing. If this keeps up, it's gonna hit me in the face.

I'm gonna let it grow and see what happens. It might go on a growth spurt and not be a problem. I've seen norways do that.
