With an additional Apple proprietary PCI-e power adapter from the motherboard, I can now power both GPUs!
My MacPro was configured with 6 modules of 1GB RAM; two slots empty. '1066MHz DDR3 ECC SDRAM' memory modules are finally out in the market; but no 4GB available yet. I got 2GB modules x 2 today to fill empty slots and the total RAM is now 10GB.
With detachable mother board, adding or removing RAM is just a piece of cake now.

installing a third internal hard drive on a Mac Pro was the simplest procedure I've ever encountered in my 25 years of working with computers. About 5 minutes from start to finish.
Step 2 Pop open the side door
Not bad looking. I used anodized aluminum to match the case and its internals pretty closely. The DX4 comes in a shiny looking chrome that I didn't really care for. This was my first attempt at this, and I could have made the bends a bit nicer with a metal brake, but the stock on this was so thin and soft that I just did the bends on a portable carpenters vise with some wood stock and a rubber mallet.
The cuts were done with a pair of aircraft right handed snips and a dremel with a cutoff disc for the inner window cut.

not the clearest screenshot, but sometimes Leopard's Screen Sharing program does a funky infinite recursion thing. Fun for a second in a psychedelic kind of way, but eventually impedes actually using the computer. Force quitting seems to be the only option.
