This little wall thingy has saved appreciable desk real estate.

Plus those hangers can be really useful for items that are usually lost somewhere in the room.

Otter (Lutra lutra) along the River Stour, Dorset England

On our 4th attempt, the Otters along the River Stour finally showed for us. Most are of the Mum (Sow) and her two pups. Only once did the Dog Otter make a brief appearance and had a little encounter with his Sow.

Forgot to get a photo of the chair along the desk.

So here it is with a sheep skin and back-supporting pillow from IKEA. Also it perfectly fits between the HELMERS! Precisely.

This is my office at home were I host multiple websites, like www.neue-bands.de and do some stock trading....

So I handed down to my sister the old MICKE desk.

I got a second HELMER drawer chest, and used it with my old white one as legs for a 120cm x 60cm VIKA AMON desk surface.

About a month ago, I had seen an article somewhere in Lifehacker or so, about the easy LACK+RIBBA desk elevator thing.

So I got the LACK shelf I had, placed two RIBBA frames on the desk and aligned it on top of them. The iMac is heavy enough to keep it sturdy, but I try not to move everything around. Nothing is screw-driven, whatsoever.

I find this practical. For various reasons.

Also, you can get an idea of the backlight on the iMac and of the shelf below it.

Neat and tidy, as always :p

You could say I have some sort of OCD...

Oh, and the bed is not from IKEA, quite surprisingly!

In just a few months I'll be off to Kenya again for this year's Masai Mara Migration tour. Being on the road for the majority of the year, it's sometimes difficult to find the time to go through all the images, make selections and process shots. Today I found myself looking on the internet for 2TB drives to replace the 1TB drives that are now installed in my MacPro. But what I should actually do, is look at everything that I've shot and throw away the bad stuff. That should free at least 75% of the available disk space and save me a lot of money. :) So today I finally started to have a closer look at last year's Kenya shots, and this is one of the images that stood out.

While I usually try to isolate and separate my subjects to get the clean and graphic look I like so much, here I was much more interested in capturing the incredible mood of the scene in front of me. It was late afternoon when we stumbled across this small herd of wildebeest (not so difficult, considering we were almost unable to land our plane on the airstrip because there were so many of them). The backlighting, the rimlight, the warm colors, and the dust kicked up by the wildebeest , turned this otherwise mundane scene into tons of atmosphere. Instead of isolating one or two wildebeest, I therefore decided to frame it quite wide to show the lovely play of light.

I included a fair amount of empty sky, but I would never consider cropping it to a panoramic. Even though there is not an awful lot going on there, the subtle textures imo are essential for the shot. I did try it, also losing a slice from the bottom, but for me the wider approach works best.

Geastrum britannicum

Midhurst, West Sussex England

This is the 3rd season this new British species has been found in Sussex. Dawn and I found the first known (unfortunately mis-identified at the time) in the county in 2014 and after finding it again in 2015 we reported it to the SxBRC and to the Sussex County Recorder for Fungi. With his help and the taking of samples, it was confirmed by Kew in May 2015 as the new British species and this year it has appeared again in large numbers at this site.

This was my initial HELMER bought. I got a second one for a HUGE discount [€25->€9], but it was in grey. So to blend these two together, I exchanged half of the drawers.

Funky and easy.

Just as it was time for the old PC to retire, it was also time to upgrade into the 21st century. This is my new Mac Pro. I still have some upgrades to install, but she's here, and ready. My photo updates may drop a bit as my video updates ramp up.
