Thanks to a suggestion from Brad, i looked closer at the ATI Radeon X1900 XT card and found something strange: an odd felt-like panel on the end of it. I blasted the dust off it and a big chunk of the whole thing came off! It wasn't supposed to be there at all. It was a felt-like pelt of dust packed against the cooling vanes on the upwind side of the card. Removing it will hopefully eliminate the overheating problems that I think are cauing the occasional lines of pixel noise that appear in some windows and the annoying blackouts, crashes, and freezes of the entire Mac.
The rest of the Mac was not very dusty, which is why I didn't think to look really closely here. Seems that ALL the dust in the whole case ends up here, in such a perfectly even layer it looked intentional. So, if you're having random blackouts, freezes, lockups of your Macintosh Pro, look here first.

Bunny and I were mucking around and decided to check out what the most asssspensiffff possible configuration for the new mac pro was. We were quite tickled at the final amount - really wasn't as much as I'd guessed it was going to be.
Ah well. All this imaginary money. Going to crazy computers like that (half the things I added on to my imaginary mac pro I have no idea what to do with) and to my equally imaginary incredible range of lenses.

There wasn't enough light to stay at ISO200 and still keep the shutter at 1/1000s so I had to bump ISO to 3200. D700 really showed its prowess in these conditions. In the end everyone was happy - the rider, the jumping machine, the trainer, and the photographer.
