installing a third internal hard drive on a Mac Pro was the simplest procedure I've ever encountered in my 25 years of working with computers. About 5 minutes from start to finish.
Step3 identify which hard drive bracket to remove. I was adding a third drive, so door number three was the appropriate one.

View of the cabling of power and single SATA cable. A fanout connector from SAS to SATA will be used with the Atto card once installed. Right now only one SSD drive is installed, but there is room for up to four on each side. I'll probably only populate two on each side for an even four.

The converter box did not have bottom mounting holes that Mac Pro HDD bracket uses. I was too lazy to return it so I made the mounts from old PCI cover plates left from my self-PC-assembly days.
