It has been said that "if you stand here long enough the entire city walks by."* And, let me add, stops to take photographs of this architectural masterpiece. From the allegorical carvings on the piers, to the arcade and the fountain, the terrace is full of architectural surprises. More to come.....

Sitting in my office with too much to do, of course I got fascinated by the grill patterns on my Mac Pro. Sometimes you need to zone out to become productive again.

MacPro was dead. The repair fee was said to be 150,000 yen by Apple japan. Nah I repair at 150,000 JPY, I’ll select iMac 5K. Because I don’t like black trash can. And I chose Skylake i7 6700K and 500 GB of SSD replace it. I don’t place data on the boot drive. Put it on an external HDD. And make a clone with C.C.C. on an external HDD not usually connected. The probability that a drive not connected to a machine, break risk is very low. I also have NAS. However, the data transfer rate is a donkey. Mac / PCs It is not important. It sells without limit in such a thing everywhere sides. The DATA. This is not sold anywhere. Lost, if it crashed, it is game over. You’ll hear 10 counts.

My One drive of Microsoft has 1 TB. My iCloud Is 50 GB, iCloud is too much Violently expensive.

Boot drive is enough 256GB something.

IFIXIT shipped double sided tape and several tools. I’m an old member here.

The old soldier has gone. R.I.P. MacPro…

On our 4th attempt, the Otters along the River Stour finally showed for us. Most are of the Mum (Sow) and her two pups. Only once did the Dog Otter make a brief appearance and had a little encounter with his Sow.

I'm so sorry 3al shot + el-edit elsaree3 ..

It sure is a beautiful thing to see 16 cores chugging away at RED footage.

Update: Just did the same transcode on 2007 Mac Pro 8 core 3GHz with 16GB RAM and RAID 5 array with 4 drives. The Nehalem did the job in 2 minutes 15 seconds. The Mac Pro 3GHz in 3 minutes 55 seconds. The transcode was RED footage (4096x2304 Res) to Apple ProRes 422 (1920x1080 Res) in Compressor utilizing Qmaster Cluster. This is an amazing trouncing. The Nehalem only has 6GB and no RAID.

Hyper threading is bad ass. If you are into video or anything that could benefit from multiple thread processing... this is well worth the upgrade.

Slams. <3

Octopussy doing what it does best. HD MPEG-2 19.0Mbps render testing... pretty much maxes out each core on this type of render. Clip being rendered is 720p/24 duration of 00:02:57:03... completed in 0:01:27. Half of clip real time is not bad. Processors usually at full 100% on this type of render.. break in power due to screen capture.

At long last my dear old IMac gave up the ghost but not before causing me much data and hair loss. It has been replaced by something far shinier and attractive. My new Mac Pr!. It won't be long before my dear wife starts to muse about trading me in too...

Soon will have RAID 5 with 4 750GB Seagate 7200 RPM hard drives. May upgrade to SAS drives for faster speeds soon. RAID card battery is charging now... should take a long time to trickle charge.

Now I'm wondering if 32GB of memory can fit into this beast.

Much later:

Holy shit.. this can support 32GB www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/32GB_RAM_Mac_Pro.html

Candle-ware, iPad, iMac and stuff like that are part of the daily routine.

Advice. You may prefer longer and less wide desks, but after all the most usable ones are the not-so-lengthy but deeeep ones.

The 146x50 cm MICKE has now been replaced by a 120x60 cm VIKA. And, yes 10cm of depth really make a difference.
