U743 with a CN SD75I and a BCOL Dash 9 have just tied onto a second cut of DM&IR mini quads to be loaded at the Empire. The massive and impressive Empire processing plant sits in the background. The plant is scheduled to be closed late this year or early next year. When the plant closes that will bring a end to the Ore trains to the docks in Escanaba that started with the CNW, later the WC and now CN. 1 ore train, the all rail to the Soo will still run as that is loaded at the Tilden mine by the LS&I and interchanged at Partridge or Eagle Mills to the CN.
This was taken in the rear of an abandoned building supply facility in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) General Electric ES44C4 diesel-electric locomotive number 8032, leads two other GE sisters through some curves on the lower western slope of Mullan Pass.
Timber products tend to dominate the loadings of such freight trains here in the Pacific North West of the USA and in the west of Canada.
Monkton Farleigh ammunition depot utilised an old stone quarry below a plateau some 450 feet above the valley floor in which ran the main line railway that was its principal source of supply. Before the depot could be commissioned, an efficient means was need to bring in ammunition from the railway at Farleigh Down Sidings. The sidings were just over a mile from the depot as the crow flies but more than four miles by road along steep and tortuous country lanes.
In November 1937 the Great Western Railway were contracted to lay the sidings and build a 1000 foot long raised loading platform complete with a narrow gauge track to carry the ammunition wagons. Outline plans had already been prepared to drive a mile long tunnel from the heart of the workings terminating in an underground sorting yard built beneath the sidings in the valley below.

LS&I U30C 3008 and HLCX 5968 lead a cut of Tilden loads through Empire Junction as they head for Eagle Mills and put on a smoke show... kinda.
Here is another addition to my growing construction crew set. It's a skid steer loader with 101 pieces.
Not a lot of time today, so i needed a quick page. It's Emily's 13 th bday, so we have shopping, lunch, presents, ice skating a sleepover, making a sushi cake, and grandparents in town. i had to use a pic of her of course, and i loved the colors of the notebook. Made some flowers and wah-la!
