Das Unternehmen FLEX Bahndienstleistungen ist noch recht neu auf deutschen Schienen. Inzwischen weist man jedoch einen recht interessanten Fuhrpark auf, der hauptsächlich aus Dual Mode Maschinen besteht. Aber auch ein Smartron wurde angemietet und mit dem auffälligen Firmendesign versehen. Besagte 192 059 konnte ich am 21. September 2024 im osthessischen Haunetal vor einem Autotransportzug nach Nürnberg aufnehmen. Ladegut waren BMWs aus dem US-amerikanischen Werk Spartanburg, die für europäische Kunden bestimmt sind.
The company FLEX Bahndienstleistungen is still quite new on the German railways. However, it now has a very interesting fleet of vehicles, consisting mainly of dual-mode machines. But a Smartron was also hired and given the eye-catching company design. I was able to take this photo of 192 059 on 21 September 2024 in Hermannspiegel in eastern Hesse in front of a car transport train to Nuremberg. The load consisted of BMWs from the US plant in Spartanburg, which are destined for European customers.

DMIR 402 and 409 hustle a northbound ID pellet train through Biwabik, MN with 116 cars to load at Minntac back on June 29, 2004. Searchlights were still over all the place on the former Missabe. It's the former Missabe as CN took over the property the month before.
Last month, CN finally took out of service the last of the searchlights on the Iron Range Sub. between Allen Jct. and Iron Junction, including these here at South Biwabik.
Both the 402 and 409 still work the former DMIR albeit in CN paint. CN has spent the time and money to put PTC on both tunnel motors so maybe they'll continue to roam northeast Minnesota for many or a few more years?

The afternoon dock job switches loaded taconite jennies out on old Missabe ore dock now controlled by Great Lake Transportation. A cloud of taconite dust flies into the air and drifts over the Mantoulin and Michipicoten from Lower Lakes Towing load at both the conveyors and the gravity chutes loading ore from Minnesota's Mesabi Range. Positively busy times at the Duluth dock.
Backed towards the end of in-service track, a ballast train waits for all departing trucks to leave the Quarry, before pulling forward to start loading.
The loading conveyor is located right on the former mainline, and the only access road to the quarry for customer trucks is blocked during the entire loading process. Due to this, trains usually will shove to clear the crossing until quarry employees are ready to load and customer trucks have left.

It was strange a couple of years ago as New Zealand was exporting all of it's logs to China and importing wood from other countries.
A Norfolk Southern train with one of the Blue Mane units trailing loads coal at the Consol loadout near Oakwood ,Virginia. We didn't stick around to see how long it's take to leave because we wanted to chase the Clinchfield heritage unit up the CSX Kingsport Sub
Shot from Telltales Park in the Los Angeles Harbor area near the Vincent Thomas Bridge. The night was very quiet with the exception of the cargo ships being loaded. Very relaxing shoot.
I used my Canon M6mkii with an EF 16-35 f/4. Awesome lens.

That's clarice, loading the 120 film on her KIEV60 on our way to OSAKA in the Shinkansen-Super Express Bullet Train.
The other day I uploaded a long, wide load on the Leichhardt Highway between Moura and Wandoan in Queensland. Well, there were two loads and here is the second. This one was actually wider than the other, and if you look closely for the flags that distinguish the outside edges of the load, you will see that there is very little room left on the road. For this one, we were over as far as we could get and we still saw the load sweep past my nose!
NS 7207 (ex-CR SD80MAC) has just finished loading NS C47, a 100+ car coal train at Amfire Mining Co. in Portage, PA and reverses under the coal tipple. Once put together, the train will head out onto the Pittsburgh Line and head to South Fork, PA.
My first look at the Dresser loading facility. Hopefully the next time I'm here, the sun will make an appearance.

Or Pumpkin Load depending on where you came from!
Back in the old days a Punkin Load was a single log load that was big enough to bring the trailer up to weight. This was back in the days of the big timber, back when old growth was still plentiful.
Definitely not something you would ever see today, everything coming out of the woods today is match sticks compared to the days of old!
