Loading at Empire
U743 with a CN SD75I and a BCOL Dash 9 have just tied onto a second cut of DM&IR mini quads to be loaded at the Empire. The massive and impressive Empire processing plant sits in the background. The plant is scheduled to be closed late this year or early next year. When the plant closes that will bring a end to the Ore trains to the docks in Escanaba that started with the CNW, later the WC and now CN. 1 ore train, the all rail to the Soo will still run as that is loaded at the Tilden mine by the LS&I and interchanged at Partridge or Eagle Mills to the CN.
