46233, Duchess of Sutherland, arrives at Preston Station with the Glasgow - Preston leg of the Great Britain V Steam Tour.

This section of the train had hinged side decking areas as well as an elevated section of roofing. These would have been hand-cranked on the real train but in my design the elevated section uses a scissor jack driven by a Technic M Motor within the coach body.

"The Twins" Now finished! www.davidheyscollection.com/userimages/gec-alstom-ivatt-t...

Managed to get 3 working front LED lights on 10000.

Both have 9v motors in. The pics dont really show it but I managed to get hold of some metalic brushed aluminium vinyl for the numbers and lettering, which looks very nice IRL and true to proto. 3mm tube is LEGO metalic silver, again the pics dont show it well.

I've also tried to include the subtle differences between the engines ;)

These are the first 7 wide full size diesels I have done (they were sort of a test to see if I can re-visit the class 37 and 40) and also now the longest at 2 or 4 studs (cant remember) longer than the Pullman DMU units.

The underside of the roof showing the construction method. There are a lot of brackets with plates and tiles in different orientations in order to give the correct roof deck width.

L.M.S. diesel electic locomotive 10001 on the 'Royal Scot' London - Glasgow (or vice versa) express at an unknown location (maybe London Euston?), unknown date.

From Wikipedia - 'British Railways Class D16/1 or 10000 and 10001 were the first mainline diesel locomotives in Great Britain. They were built by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway at its Derby Works, using the EE16SVT 1600 hp diesel engine with electric transmission, in association with English Electric and the Vulcan Foundry, with whom the LMS had had a long working relationship.'
