After viewing no 9 in the distance on the approaching 1Z40 Norwich-York excursion; I concluded, despite the curve, that the steam seemed to be blowing to the left of the loco in the direction of where we had taken up residence, although it was difficult to tell as evidenced here.
So both myself and a fellow gricer decided at the last minute to set up shop on the other (this) side of the bridge.
To our surprise 6233 suddenly appeared in front of us, having crept up and caught us completely off guard without any discernable noise, nor a whistle to signify its arrival.
Neither was there any visibility owing to the high parapet either side of the bridge, not that I was looking behind at the time anyway.
LMS Coronation Pacific Class 7P 6233 Duchess of Sutherland en route to turn on the Milford triangle before heading the return leg as fellow top link express LNER A4 Pacific Class 4-6-2 no 60009 Union of South Africa approaches on the outward journey.
Both locos were observed at Bolton Percy on the outskirts of York.
This was the closest I could get the two locos together as the scene was enveloped in steam a few seconds later.
The Stanier and Gresley pacifics both traded long whistles as they passed each other.
"The Twins" Now finished! www.davidheyscollection.com/userimages/gec-alstom-ivatt-t...
Managed to get 3 working front LED lights on 10000.
Both have 9v motors in. The pics dont really show it but I managed to get hold of some metalic brushed aluminium vinyl for the numbers and lettering, which looks very nice IRL and true to proto. 3mm tube is LEGO metalic silver, again the pics dont show it well.
I've also tried to include the subtle differences between the engines ;)
These are the first 7 wide full size diesels I have done (they were sort of a test to see if I can re-visit the class 37 and 40) and also now the longest at 2 or 4 studs (cant remember) longer than the Pullman DMU units.

1960/08.R462. Not exactly a brilliant shot, but one snatched out of a passing train window on the way home. I have included it because it shows a couple of coaches from one of the London and North Western Railway Oerlikon electric sets outside the car sheds at Stonebridge Park. These were rapidly being phased out by that time and this is the only picture that I have of them.
Also of interest is the war-time camouflaging still in evidence on the gables and end walls of the car shed, and, just visible on the horizon, the twin towers of Wembley Stadium.

LMS Royal Scot No.46100 passes Burlescombe, with a Saphos Trains Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear working,on the 6th of June 2021.
An update on this loco. I've managed to set the cylinders at an angle as per the prototype. It's about double the angle it should be (5° instead of 2.5°) but at least it shows willing. Just have to figure out how to fix them in place now.
The assembly in the foreground is a more economical way of achieving the angle, which is what I shall insert next.
I've placed the IR receiver in the coal bunker. Can't really see it here.
National Greenway TIB4873, with the original Greenway style front, is seen at LMS Buses base.
It was new to Crosville as MCA671T.

It is still possible to see that, in spite of all the alterations made during the rebuild process, the original body profile is preserved.
The Transport for Wales Rail [TfW] 1H90 14:41 Llandudno to Manchester Airport worked by CAF 3-car unit 197 106 eases away from platform 3 on an overcast day in February 2025. The iron railings complete with London Midland & Scottish Railway [LMS] monogram and former central cab road gates are still in situ and provide a reminder of the days when the station was much larger with five operational platforms covered by a Euston type train shed.

The ends of two ex-LMS carriages, the one on the left possibly of LNWR origin. Location may be Cricklewood, but this is unconfirmed. Date not known but probably 1950s.
Taken from an image in my collection, photographer not known.

6115 was built in 1927 by the North British Locomotive Company in Springburn, Glasgow. It was named Scots Guardsman in 1928 after the Scots Guards. After receiving smoke deflectors, it starred in the 1936 film Night Mail.
6115 was rebuilt in 1947 with a new tapered type 2A boiler, and was painted in LMS 1946-style black livery. It was the first of the rebuilt engines to receive smoke deflectors and the only one to run with them as an LMS engine. It was renumbered 46115 by British Railways in 1948 and was withdrawn in January 1966.
