London Midland and Scottish Railways Class 8F 48151 Gauge O Guild working Statesman Rail 1Z52 The Fellsman from Lancaster to Carlisle via The Settle and Carlisle Line
Atmospheric illustration by Norman Wilkinson (1878-1971), a specialist in maritime subjects. He was employed on shipping camouflage duties in both world wars and one this mural painting (Plymouth Harbour) went down with the Titanic. He frequently worked for LMS whose publicity lacked the flair and invention of their main competitor (LNER) while maintaining a high standard of distinguished imagery. 1934
This is a 100% crop of my 500D at 300mm. I was actually suprised to see this quality from an somewhat older camera..

Some scans of recently discovered old 6 x 4 prints taken by myself back in the 1980s and 1990s. These were taken with my trusted Canon AE1 camera and at the time I didn’t think some of them were good enough to use however, I thought some might find them interesting and that I would now share them.
LMS 5MT No.44871 seen exiting Tunnel No.3 on the 1-in-50 climb to Beasdale, moments after it stalled and had to run back to Loch nan Uamh Viaduct for another run. Taken on the 27th May 2015.
After the LMS Explorer was decommissioned the Rock Raiders returned back to planet U in their new ship the LMS Discoverer.
This is the posh end. I've had to use some creative techniques to fit some semblance of seating around the various chassis structures. I've used trans-clear parts to try and minimise the visual impact of this.

Other details that have needed an educated guess include parts of the railcar itself. I am uncertain about the layout of windows, doors and any other bodyside features on the second car, which was furthest from the camera.
This recessed feature could be anything, from a vent to an open door, although I have decided that, as the gap appears to extend all the way to the roof, it could just as easily be a ladder. I may change my mind about this in a day or so, but for now I feel content with it.

The streamlined cabs had a wrap-around 7-pane windscreen with the driver sat centrally in the cab. The V-shaped "speed whiskers" livery has been recreated using a small amount of coloured vinyl.

Apologies for the lack of updates but things have been a bit busy here. I've been juggling real life, finalising the design for the second version of the railcar and making minor changes to the original version as issues presented themselves. However, I have not been idle and its finally time to show the design concept.
All vehicles are built using a chassis with sub-assemblies hung off them. This is the middle coach in it's ready-to-assemble form.

Construction has been slowly moving forward. Chassis and interiors have been completed for the non-motor end coach and the centre coach.
So this is why 5305's wheels & motion are always so shining!
