fieldtrip termasuk zona fisiografi Pegunungan Selatan Bagian Barat. 3. Satuan Geomorfologi Dataran Tinggi

Surono (1) dan M.A.Puspa (2-)

Tentu saja bukan sembarang bukit.

The Collie is a large but lithe herder standing anywhere from 22 to 26 inches tall. The rough variety boasts one of the canine kingdom’s most impressively showy coats; the smooth coat’s charms are subtler but no less satisfying. Coat colors in both varieties are sable and white, tricolor, blue merle, or white. Collie fanciers take pride in their breed’s elegant wedge-shaped head, whose mobile ears and almond eyes convey a wide variety of expressions.

Collies are famously fond of children and make wonderful family pets. These swift, athletic dogs thrive on companionship and regular exercise. With gentle training, they learn happily and rapidly. The Collie’s loyalty, intelligence, and sterling character are the stuff of legend.

Same neg, different paper:

Lith printed on Fomabrom Variant IV 123 BO and developed in Moersch Easy Lith (25A+25B+40D+100OB+H2Oqs900).

Se 1+9 30 sec.

These are the differences between warmtone and coldtone lithable papers.

The Fomabrom Variant IV 123 BO was a "short living" attempt by Foma to make a paper which could be used for Bromoil (and maybe replace the original cold tone FB Variant IV 123, which was a very good lithable paper).

This one was good for both bromoil and lith printing :-).

When lithing coldtone papers, you want the "pepper" to appear. It's by far not as colourful as a warmtone papers. But on the other hand not so "high contrasty", so you can get more b&w nuances from the process. Which, btw, is much slower than the warmtone lith process. Expect exposure times to be around 5 min and developing times up to or above 20 (!) min. That of course depends on your "soup".

This was perhaps too much boring information, but if I can pass the knowledge ahead to coming b&w analog printers, it's worth it :-). And I'm of course not taking credit of any knowledge that Wolfgang Moersch possesses. Almost everything I've learned comes from him. Kudos, Wolfgang.

The "Stone Mask" of Golgo, also known as the "Lithic Face", is a basaltic wall that reveals a surprising anthropomorphism when observed from a certain point on the path below: a bizarre result of the erosion caused on the rock by atmospheric agents. The rocky wall, about ten meters high, on which rain and wind have traced human features, almost defining eyes, nose and lips in detail, is located on the eastern side of "Baccu Dolcolce", behind a basaltic ridge that rises a few meters from the 'Il Rifugio' farmhouse (built in the early 1990s as part of a program to upgrade the accommodation facilities on the Golgo plateau).

These pictures from 2024 were taken on one of my best days. The Witches' Stone just at the edge of the village of Spott is a good memorial of bad times and deeds. The Witches’ Stone always fills me with commemoration and remembrance of times not so long gone when Witch Hunts were after witches so upsettingly so that we still use the term Witch Hunt now more than ever for a falsely fuelled over active hunt often with vicious entanglements and outcomes.

The Witches’ Stone is on the East of Spott village and Easter Broomhouse Standing Stone is at the West of the village. In the village at the Church you can find The Jougs. From standing stone in the East past central stone church to a commemorative stone in the West there are three superb historic lithic sites. The Church has been a focal site to inspire and to contain history of the area and along with local archives there are some superb historic collections, myriad connections, and local recollections.

There are three tall Standing Stones near Spott, Easter Broomhouse, Pencraig Hill and Kirklandhill Standing Stones. Their placement in the landscape of natural bounties and hill forts is a key to some of the smaller monuments, This coastal area is full of life from the sea and the land and the stones stretch into the sky that keeps the seas calm and the lands fertile.

Some sly miniature neurological intruder has strung a net across my brain - between the part that has ideas and the part in charge of executing. Ideas spring up like sockeye, silver, lithe, shimmering, leaping - only to flop back stunned and stupid after hitting the net. Again.

What happens to ideas when they're stymied like that? Do they starve, die, rot, without ever having spawned? Or do they regroup, reconstitute themselves, and come back later with a more developed business plan?

I guess we'll see.

My Country, our country indeed. I wanted to start the story of our recent journey through our country, in fact, some country Queensland but mostly New South Wales with a bit of a bang and I couldn't find any better shot than this one at the grain silos in Gunnedah, NSW which feature this marvellous mural of Dorothea Mackellar and her famous poem, "My Country".

I don't know what they teach at school today, but there wouldn't be anyone of my generation who didn't study and know her great poem. But I never realised to my regret in a way (obviously forgot) that the verse which no doubt stays is our memory the most is actually verse 2......"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains....." Here is the full poem.

My Country by Dorothea Mackellar

The love of field and coppice,

Of green and shaded lanes.

Of ordered woods and gardens

Is running in your veins,

Strong love of grey-blue distance

Brown streams and soft dim skies

I know but cannot share it,

My love is otherwise.

I love a sunburnt country,

A land of sweeping plains,

Of ragged mountain ranges,

Of droughts and flooding rains.

I love her far horizons,

I love her jewel-sea,

Her beauty and her terror -

The wide brown land for me!

A stark white ring-barked forest

All tragic to the moon,

The sapphire-misted mountains,

The hot gold hush of noon.

Green tangle of the brushes,

Where lithe lianas coil,

And orchids deck the tree-tops

And ferns the warm dark soil.

Core of my heart, my country!

Her pitiless blue sky,

When sick at heart, around us,

We see the cattle die -

But then the grey clouds gather,

And we can bless again

The drumming of an army,

The steady, soaking rain.

Core of my heart, my country!

Land of the Rainbow Gold,

For flood and fire and famine,

She pays us back threefold -

Over the thirsty paddocks,

Watch, after many days,

The filmy veil of greenness

That thickens as we gaze.

An opal-hearted country,

A wilful, lavish land -

All you who have not loved her,

You will not understand -

Though earth holds many splendours,

Wherever I may die,

I know to what brown country

My homing thoughts will fly

There is no doubt we saw and experienced much of this during our short trip. Here finally is a link in Wikipedia to the life of Dorothea Mackellar.

There is a Vulcan and a Lithic Heart at the centre of the images depending which two are meeting in the middle. The Vulcan Heart is a Vulcanised Tyre Heart and the Lithic Heart is made by the Stones coming together. The reflections bring about some excellent wyrd wonders.

There is a Grass Heart and Shadow Heart too. Everyone needs Picnic Heart and a Calm Heart. Well at least I think that we all need a Picnic Heart and a Calm Heart.

[Oh yes and there is a Shadow Dove flying along the centre too, that is it is a Shadow Dove unless you see it as a young cow in which there is a Shadow Coo in the centre grazing not ascending.]

Final point to be made is a suggestion that the metal balance in some of the pictures looks very Dragon Like. Please note Dragon Like, not a Dragon, just an echo calling and falling through the seasons and over the years. Once seen the Dragon Like resemblance is an image to reflect upon especially so with Dragon Lore mentioning the sleepy long slumbers of such mythic beast. In those legendary snooze times surely there might be a little flaking and descaling as fresh ‘solid feathers’, not squalid fetters, regrow, well I am happy to suggest so.

Around the remains of the castle on which Lauria is perched re-echoes part of the history of the village whose original nucleus probably dates back to the 10th century. The history of the town is linked to the passing of iconophilic monks coming from the East, but also to the Longobards and the Knights Templar, as well as the Saracens, who would have settled in the neighborhood "Ravita", just from the Arab "Rabit", which means "near area", and they would have built and built the castle "di Ruggiero". In feudal age the country is dominated by the Angioni, passing passed to the Sanseverino, the Borgias and finally to the Ulloa.

Walking along the historic center you are literally charmed by the typical signs of medieval times revealed starting from the remains of his castle. The ancient village has preserved traces of its ancient origins in the houses clinging to the hill, in the narrow alleyways and in the intricate streets, which in turn climb up forming arches, arcades and harmonious architectural motifs. Nor does it leave indifferent the heritage made of railings and wrought iron gates and stone portals, lithic crests and decorated cornices, in addition to the noble palaces. It is on the top of a rocky mountain that rise the walls and remains of the towers of the castle, which belonged first to Ruggiero di Lauria, then to the Sanseverino and the dukes of Candia. Do not miss the birthplace of Blessed Domenico da Lentini, Patron of Lauria, whose relics are kept inside the mother church of Lauria, San Nicola di Bari. Both places are a destination for pilgrimages throughout the year.

Another one of a kind, the 1934 Voisin C27 Figoni Cabriolet. Only one of 2 made and the sole survivor still alive and kicking.

Looking back at his career as an automobile manufacturer, it is quite amazing that Gabriel Voisin managed to sell well over 11,000 vehicles between 1919 and 1939. His cars were never conventional, always highly expensive to buy and certainly not cheap to run, but nevertheless he had built a loyal following of customers particularly in the 1920s. They were certainly not idiots, but rather true enthusiasts that opted to accept the common Voisin quirks in exchange for driving one of the most advanced and exclusive cars on the market.

Originally trained as an architect, Gabriel Voisin quickly turned to the emerging aeroplane industry and together with his brother formed 'Avions Voisin'. The company did good business in the Great War and as soon as the peace was signed Gabriel switched interests once more and converted his business into 'Automobiles Voisin'. He immediately created his own style with influences from his two former interests, but also had a more than average focus on passenger safety; his brother had a fatal car accident a few years earlier.

Apart from the obvious unique styling cues sported by most Voisins, the cars also stand out for the use of lightweight materials like aluminium and exotic technical solutions. The best example of the latter is the Knight patented sleeve-valve engine design of which Voisin was a big fan. This design allowed the engine to run virtually quiet, thanks to the absence of the rattling created by a regular valvetrain. One of the downsides was the large amount of oil required to properly lubricate the sleeves, usually resulting in quite noticeable oil smoke from the exhaust.

Voisin's most successful period was the mid-1920s when the range consisted of four and six cylinder models with relatively small displacement engines. Quite unusual for the time, most the cars were offered as complete cars with the coachwork designed and constructed in-house.

The Paris Salon of 1934 was clear proof that Gabriel Voisin was at the very top of the game, but sadly the world was not ready yet for his exotic machines and the sales figures remained poor. Just 28 examples of the C25 chassis were ever constructed and with one and two built respectively the C26 and C27 were even less successful. Voisin tried once more with the even more advanced 3.3 litre C28 chassis, but despite the incredibly modern 'Aerosport' coachwork without separate fenders, the company struggled to find buyers for their cars. Sadly Gabriel Voisin was forced to give up just when he reached the peak of his abilities.

Very few Voisins were coached by Figoni because Gabriel Voisin believed he could create superior coachwork in-house. This Voisin is an exception. For this Voisin, Figoni created a unique one-off design with a lithe, sporting profile, unlike the quintessential Voisin styling. The car was showcased at the Madrid Auto Salon in December 1934 and purchased by the Shah of Persia. It passed through various ownerships, and was discovered in the 1970s in a barn in France. Jacques Buson purchased the dilapidated Voisin and, with the help of Claude Figoni, Joseph's son, and Henry Bernard, son of Voisin's chief designer, the car was restored. In 1991 the Voisin was acquired by Peter Mullin and restored to its original spectactular specification.

One of only two built, the well-balanced Figoni & Falaschi body on this Voisin was one of the first to be influenced by modern aerodynamic principles.

Augustus Saint-Gaudens' statue Diana dominates the Great Stair Hall entrance to the Philadelphia Museum. In 2013-14 it was restored to its original gold-leaf finish. In 2008, it looked like this.

Diana was the lithe Roman goddess of the hunt.

The statue was sculpted by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. From 1893-1925, Diana was the weather vane atop Madison Square Garden.

Which Way Home? -

Getting lost is easy. Getting out is hard. On the less beaten path, it’s my fault for not tying yellow ribbons around trees. Four computers can fail in the same way simultaneously; imagine legs two of a kind synchronizing at sea. My faltering feet points north but my unsure mind deviates to the south. Each is telling me to make different choices. If only there are no forks in the unmarked track. If only they make one brand of toothpaste.

Until at last! My decision seems made on a U-turn, but a strange glimpse hooded by shrubs pulled me back. Oh look! It’s a lithe spider who stitched himself on the bottom of leaves. Beauty, always seem to show when you take notice. Endowed with the sweet color of sour lemon, his pointy butt stood out with uniqueness unparalleled. How could something so tiny and unimportant be so appealing? Like how a Himalayan vulture takes a morbid interest on the corpse of a zebra, the task of averting my gaze proves too mighty. The pastel spider remained still… despite being eyed all over.

After a mere hesitation or two, I decided to cough up the urgent question. It hurts to ask a spider for help but in this case, pride will have to step to the side.

“Hi, I’ve lost myself in the garden of Eden,” the words tumble out from my lips straight upon the static being.

I spoke the next statement with a stuttering voice, “Could you point me in the right direction of the Eastern exit?”

As if not comprehending, the unmoving spider said nothing. Did he not want to talk to me? The awkward silence made me feel foolish. Perhaps too many lost soles barge into his realm so he’s sick of being a compass. What happened next was totally beyond imagination. The spider facing me began to swivel laterally and after that crane his ducky tail slowly skywards, halting at exactly 43 degree angle.

“That way,” his indicating tail fingered the North-west direction.

Looking on in plain bewilderment, my vision blurs as sweat filled up my eyes. A rush of emotion came out of nowhere. I gulped the lump in my throat and muttered a feeble thank. Where the arrow points, I follow.

Some spiders, no matter how beautiful, just say hi and take their leave. This one is the unforgettable type. His unspoken communication made an impact on my life. We have to be lost to eventually find where we belong. I wouldn’t understand if not for this spider. The carefree forest where one can fall asleep anywhere is truly where I fit and feel right.

poem by E.E.Cummings

I have not been well and failed to keep up with everything. My edits have been ill with me. The Witches’ Stone always fills me with commemoration and remembrance of times not so long gone when Witch Hunts were after witches so upsettingly so that we still use the term Witch Hunt no more than ever for a falsely fuelled over active hunt often with vicious entanglements and outcomes.

An Otter is a small Carnivorous mammal. It is semiaquatic.

It is a better swimmer because it has a lithe & slender body with short legs and a long flattened tail which enables it to propel gracefully in water.

It's main food is fish though it sometimes feeds on snakes and other small invertebrates

Read more about ** Otters**, you will find it interesting.

Another view over Yukon's disappearing past. At least the mountains remain steadfast and unchanging over the scale of time which we would recognise. Those great lithic mounds looked the same when these buildings were erected as they do now and they will remain the same long after these structures are gone. For us mortals, everything gives way to senescence and decay. Every dog has his day, and even memories will, in due course, evaporate, riding the wake of the people, places and things that formed them. . .

It's by far not as colourful as warmtone papers.

In October 2020, NASA confirmed the existence of molecular water near Clavius, at concentrations of up to 412 parts per million.[1] Several ways have been suggested. The water could be trapped into tiny beadlike structures in the soil that form out of the high heat created by micrometeorite impacts.[2] The water might also be sheltered between lunar soil grains. Another possibility is from very small asteroid strikes, such as a rubble pile from a much more massive "parent" asteroid collision. Pulled apart in its descent to the lunar surface similar to Comet Shoemaker–Levy 9, and hitting the surface in a modest dispersal area with a small mass at low, oblique impact angle and bouncing could allow some water to remain in the lithic matrix. The carbonaceous chondrite class is often water-rich, and the CI sub group are as much as 22% water.

Volcanic gases rises from the active lava lake in "Overlook Crater " that lies within the Halema‘uma‘u Crater on Kīlauea's summit on the Island of Hawai'i. This eruptive stage start with earthquake and fumerolic activitiy in late 2007. Increasing gas emission rates in early 2008 produced high concentrations of sulfur dioxide around the Halema‘uma‘u parking lot. For this reason, the National Park closed the western portion of Crater Rim Drive to the public on February 20, 2008. The first signs of change on the surface occurred on March 12, 2008, when a fumarolic area abruptly appeared on the south wall of Halema‘uma‘u, directly below the Halema‘uma‘u Overlook. This fumarolic area, emitting a thick gas plume, enlarged over subsequent days and was incandescent (glowing) at night.

At 2:58 am on the morning of March 19, 2008 an earthquake was measured, The quake was coincident with collapse of the fumarolic area near the overlook. A new, small crater formed from this collapse, which was also associated with an explosive eruption of lithic blocks. The new crater was informally called the "Overlook crater". Over the next few years the eruption continued with a lava lake forming in the crater. The level of the lava lake flucuated with time. It wasn't until 2017, however, that lava spilled from the crater on to the floor of its host, the the Halema‘uma‘u Crater. So far there has been continous eruptive activity from 2008 until this photo was taken in Dec 2017.

Halema‘uma‘u Crater is clearly seen in the photo. The "Overlook Crater" is inside the older crater and is not visible in this view. The photo was taken from Uwekahuma Bluff just south of the Jaggar Museum in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.

From out the earth it came and return back into it is going.

“Steps” by Hermann Hesse

As every blossom wilts and every youth

Yields to age, so blooms every step of life,

So too blooms every wisdom and every virtue

In its time and may not last forever.

The heart must at all of life’s calls

Be ready to part and begin anew,

So that it may, with courage and without grief,

Give itself to new engagements.

In every beginning lives a magic,

Protecting us and helping us to live.

Lithely and cheerfully should we stride from room to room,

On none hang like we would a home,

The spirit of the world wants not to fetter or restrict us,

Rather to lift us step by step, to expand us.

We barely arrive in a phase of life

And already complacency threatens.

Only he who is ready to break off and travel

May break from crippling habituation.

Perhaps even the hour of death

Will dispatch to us fresh and new,

Life’s call to us will never end…

Well then, my heart, be and fare well!

COME AWAY WITH ME – NORAH JONES

I love the bones of you

of course I do …

I love the way those little golden flecks

dance in your smiling eyes

I love the rays of sunshine

that caress your hair and make me sigh

I love to be with you

in everything you do

to be a part of something

bigger than me; a puzzle; a clue

to piece it all together

to run away with you

to walk beneath the dappled shade

of the Jacaranda tree

the blossom hanging thick and scented

the air of love that sets me free

to lay lithe-limbed and amorous

on sprawling camomile lawns

the softness seeping into me

my eyes half-closed and stifled yawns

drowsy with this love for you

I fall asleep perchance to dream

a secret smile upon my lips

like a cat that got the cream

and as the golden hour falls

and dampens dust with jewels of dew

I linger longer than I should

to savour those few last moments with you

and in the dawn that breaks next day

I feel the warmth of early sun

and realise with joy in heart

another perfect day's begun.
