A light that doesn’t illuminate, a presence without purpose. Just a digital shadow.

The alarm went off at 4:45 this morning, an 1.5 hour drive but it was worth it again, what a beautiful morning!
Opposite of the well-known Jiufen which is always crowned, Qitang old street is tranquil and relaxed. Walking around here you can really feel the old atmosphere despite the fact that it once was the most prosperous and busiest street, a "little Ginza" (lucky us the tourists it failed keeping up with its counterpart in Tokyo) . The most part of Qitang can be seen from Gold Museum. When the sun goes down, the yellow rays shine through the gaps between the mountains and create a beautiful view of a small mountain village.
Subject car downloaded from Serious Wheels. Just playing around trying to develop a new (for me) creative affect.
Phenomenal light rays hit the Wrekin yesterday evening. It was like somebody had shone a very powerful torch on the Wrekin. Such a magical sight to witness.
Will try catch up with everyone on flickr soon, been very busy bee!!!!!

This was taken at Pismo Beach near sunset. A lady and her dog stopped to capture the golden light.

Here's another image from my collection of "neat junk" - Sunset at the Grand Canyon. This was a tough shot to take. Not because I was shooting directly into the sun but because of the intense wind buffeting my entire kit and tripod. Two of us were wearing down jackets while we stood there and held on to our gear to keep it from blowing over. The rays of light were absolutely stunning. I'm glad I popped into the canyon for a look-see on my way to Flagstaff.
This image is one exposure -- no HDR! I was able to pull out shadow detail and rescue blown highlights using Lightroom. Contrast and saturation adjustments were done in Photoshop + Lightroom.

Rays of light shine down upon a male great white shark off Mexico's Isla de Guadalupe.
(In case you're thinking, "are you sure it's a male?" This guy is apparently very modest about his claspers and keeps them tucked fairly close to his body, so they are not visible in this shot.)
The glorious backlight on yellow leaves against a blue sky was a great end to my week in Keswick - couldn't ask for a better final morning.
'Tough' meant it was an uncompromising image, something that came from your gut, out of instinct, raw, of the moment, something that couldn’t be described in any other way. So it was tough. Tough to like, tough to see, tough to make, tough to understand. The tougher they were the more beautiful they became.

I was thinking that I would go home without any good sunset shots, but our last night came through with a beauty. We were dining at Kouzzina and as we were leaving to walk to Epcot the Nikon quickly came out of the bag. I wish I could have had a few more of these skies during our trip.

"The point of view of art and that of life are different even in the artist himself. Art flies around truth, but with the definite intention of not getting burnt. Its capacity lies in finding in the dark void a place where the beam of light can be intensely caught, without this having been perceptible before."
Franz Kafka
