Another image of Jeff, www.flickr.com/photos/jeff-schreier/ , twirling burning steel wool down below. I thought it was a neat combination of natural & manmade light.

The setting sun illuminates the evening air in the Cascade Mountains of Central Oregon. In the distance, the omnipresent clouds of the Willamette Valley are illuminated by the day's last light. Taken from the summit of South Sister, Oregon.

Panorama view from Highland Farms in Cornish this afternoon, there where some very nice Crepuscular rays coming down through the clouds.
I was running to the fields to picture the sunset. However, on the way, I found this scene on a small portion of the road on my way.

Tribute to Imapix, a great photographer!!
As Greg Donikian said, "I hope flickr keeps Imapix photos online for ever !! RIP"
I can't agree more, Greg! His works are priceless treasures to us nowadays and even to those in the future!!!
Maybe Flickr should start to establish a system to address works like Imapix''s!!

I want to make sure I share a few more images from this past fall before we all get into the spring season. This is another image from a great sunrise hike on the Art Loeb trail near Black Balsam Knob. This sunrise had a number of different moments of beautiful light on display. As the sun dipped behind some clouds these light rays broke out highlighting the distant ridges. There was also just enough light highlighting the falls colors in the foreground. Certainly a beautiful moment in the North Carolina mountains.

Found this collapsed shed whilst fungi hunting in Redgrave Fen. Light was coming through the trees nicely, but added some flash to boost the shed and localised light

Everyone loves photos with light rays in them. Foggy conditions can create light rays through the trees and enlighten the photo. Light rays can come from natural light or man made lights. In my photo with light rays the light rays came from a street light. In general, the closer you are to the light source the more pronounced the light rays will be, as long as the source of light stays at the same angle as the camera.
This photo was taken in May 2015 with a Canon 5D MkIII, TAMRON SP 90mm F/2.8 Di VC USD Macro

Another shot from the Parisian Sunrise series.
This is the Rue de Rivoli, just next to the Louvre. From Wikipedia:
"Rue de Rivoli is one of the most famous streets of Paris, a commercial street whose shops include the most fashionable names in the world.
As the sun rose to the right of the frame, it bathed this building in spectacular light. It really was a beautiful scene.

Depressing grey weather for too long makes me quite inventive. A hike above the fog should do it I decided. And it was simply fantastic to escape Mordor for a while. Later I had a great view towards the alps with that fog layer below and the blue sky above. If you search for peaceful moments, it really pays off kicking yourself in the butt to be there early before everyone else goes.
For those who where asking me how to capture those light rays. 200m below there was no sun at all, just grey, thick fog. 200m upwards it was too clear. The sweet spot is in between.
Antelope Canyon was such a great experience. In the two hours that I was in the slot canyon, I took over 500 pictures and inhaled a unhealthy amount of dust. I see a peace sign in the particular light shaft, what do you see?
After climbing to the top of this same peak two days earlier with my wife, I had to do it a second time. Our first venture to the top was in a light rain, and once we got to the summit, we were greeted with overcast skies.
I knew that if the sun was out, the karst peaks would create some interesting light beams later in the day. So two days later, when I saw that the conditions were ripe, my wife shopped in the village below as I made the trek to the top again. This was truly the first time I have ever been so hot that I could understand how someone could get heat stroke. But the climb was worth it, and I had the top of the peak all to myself.
