From a solo trip to visit the giant trees in Redwood National Park! This scene came out of nowhere, and disappeared in merely couple of minutes.

Historia de la fotografía, en Castellano:

Hola de nuevo amigos, queriendo capturar más imágenes con el especial colorido del Otoño, realizamos otro madrugón para dirigirnos al parque natural del Montseny (Catalunya) y buscamos un lugar en concreto ya preestablecido para realizar fotografias hasta el mediodia, comer un bocadillo y trasladarnos rapidamente a otros paisajes para realizar fotos por la tarde y especialmente a una hora en concreto para terner unas luces adecuadas.

 

Anécdota de esta fotografía en concreto:

Yo estaba tendido sobre el follaje que habia en el suelo y se me aparece una señora que me pregunta que hacia! yo le contesté que estaba haciendo fotos, ella me dice que ya lo veía, pero que queria fotografiar con aquella postura... yo le digo que quería capturar las raices y a la vez los árboles en un contrapicado pero, que me entrara un pequeño rayo de sol, dado que era un duro contraluz.

Después de tomar esta foto, la señora me pregunta si las publico en redes sociales, le comento que en varias (Flickr - 500 PX - Instagram) me pide mi nombre o nik para poder verlas, toma nota de mi nombre y acto seguido... abre su bolso y saca un teléfono móvil y empezó a tomar fotos junto a mi.

La verdad era que las luces de aquel momento, eran las óptimas para tomar buenas fotos y aquí teneis la foto que tomé en aquel momento mientras estaba dialogando con la misteriosa señora.

History of photography, in English:

 

Hello again friends, wanting to capture more images with the special colors of Autumn, we made another early morning to go to the Montseny Natural Park (Catalunya) and we looked for a specific place already pre-established to take pictures until noon, eat a sandwich and move quickly to other landscapes to take photos in the afternoon and especially at a specific time to have adequate lights.

 

Anecdote of this particular photograph:

I was lying on the foliage that was on the ground and a lady appeared to me and asked me what she was doing! I replied that I was taking photos, she told me that I already saw it, but that I wanted to photograph with that position ... I told her that I wanted to capture the roots and at the same time the trees in a low angle, but let a small ray enter me of the sun, since it was a harsh backlight.

After taking this photo, the lady asks me if I publish them on social networks, I tell her that in several (Flickr - 500 PX - Instagram) she asks me for my name or nik to be able to see them, take note of my name and then ... She opens her bag and takes out a mobile phone and started taking pictures with me.

The truth was that the lights of that moment were the best to take good photos and here is the photo I took at that time while I was talking to the mysterious lady.

This has to be one of my favourite Damselfly photos I’ve taken this season.

 

‘In the Spotlight’

Laying in the wet grass is becoming a very familiar pastime photographing these dainty little Damselflies. I may take up yoga with all the peculiar contorted body shapes I create to frame a shot. It’s not exactly a cool Vogue ‘Strike a Pose’ moment.‍♂️

I’m very happy with the way this one turned out.

Techy info.

Controlling the exposure was tricky shooting directly into the sun with the limitations of the camera shooting at 1/8000s at iso50. Unexpectedly the damselfly actually flapped it’s wings at high speed for a split second. I was able to capture them without blurring because of such a high shutter speed. I must admit I was lucky🍀 because I wouldn’t normally shoot a still object with these settings but was forced to in such bright light trying to control the exposure.

The image on the screen of the camera looked very overexposed but it’s amazing the detail you can recover shooting in raw format. In post processing I moved the highlights slider all the way to the left and the wings surprisingly appeared. I looked at the sequence of shots hoping for one with splashes of dew flying off the hovering wings. Now that would have been special!

Trabajando en la oscuridad- (Faro de Vilanova - Cataluña)

Historia de la foto en español:

Escogimos una noche de invierno para poder trabajar más tranquilos sin tener a turistas o parejas de enamorados en la arena de la playa.

Tratamos de conseguir una buena instantánea del faro de "Vilanova i la Geltrú" por lo que nos reunimos un grupo de compañeros y que los cuales quise capturar en pleno trabajo, cada uno buscando su propio encuadre del lugar donde estábamos.

Como los disparos eran a velocidades muy lentas, el problema era que el trípode lo teníamos en la arena y tenias que tener mucho cuidado en que no se moviera por hundirse en ella o a causa del viento, además de trabajar con guantes del frio que hacía ese día.

También tuve que calcular el tiempo en que el faro realizaba su giro para captar el destello de luz que pasaba durante la apertura del obturador.

Las luces que se ven en la oscuridad son de los visores de las cámaras del mis compañeros.

La edición ha sido bastante laboriosa, por la gran oscuridad que teníamos en el lugar, frente a la potente luz del faro.

En esta ocasión abrí más el diafragma por la poca luz, no quise subir la ISO.

Velocidad: 35 de segundo.

Trípode: Si

Utilicé una piedra chata en cada pata del trípode para evitar que se hundiera en la seca arena.

Filtros: NO

 

Story of the photo in English:

We chose a winter night to be able to work calmer without having tourists or couples in love on the sand on the beach.

We tried to get a good snapshot of the "Vilanova i la Geltrú" lighthouse, so a group of colleagues got together and I wanted to capture them at work, each looking for their own framing of the place where we were.

Since the shots were shot at very slow speeds, the problem was that we had the tripod on the sand and you had to be very careful that it did not move due to sinking in it or because of the wind, in addition to working with gloves because of the cold that was. day.

I also had to calculate the time in which the lighthouse made its turn to capture the flash of light that passed during the opening of the shutter.

The lights that are seen in the dark are from the viewfinders of my companions' cameras.

The edition has been quite laborious, due to the great darkness that we had in the place, in front of the powerful light of the lighthouse.

Història de la foto en català:

Escollim una nit d'hivern per poder treballar més tranquils sense tenir turistes o parelles d'enamorats a la sorra de la platja.

Intentem aconseguir una bona instantània del far de "Vilanova i la Geltrú" pel que ens vam reunir un grup de companys i que els vaig voler capturar en plena feina, cadascú buscant el seu propi enquadrament del lloc on estàvem.

Com que els trets eren a velocitats molt lentes, el problema era que el tripode el teníem a la sorra i havies de tenir molta cura que no es mogués per enfonsar-s'hi oa causa del vent, a més de treballar amb guants del fred que feia aquest dia.

També vaig haver de calcular el temps en què el far feia el seu gir per captar la llampada de llum que passava durant l'obertura de l'obturador.

Els llums que es veuen a la foscor són dels visors de les càmeres dels meus companys.

L'edició ha estat força laboriosa, per la gran foscor que teníem al lloc, davant de la potent llum del far.

This was taken in Eyam in the Peak District a few weeks ago.

 

It was just before sunset on a long day of shooting. I very nearly didn't bother getting my kit out as it was very cold and I was ready for a rest and a pint.

 

As I said in an earlier post, I've challenged myself to try to produce some standard landscape shots rather than long exposure or fine art shots. I think it's actually more difficult to produce an eye catching landscape as they don't have the immediate grab of LE shots.
