The right clamp is holding the pencil which as a bonus action is pinning the leaf down to the page. The left clamp is not actually clamping anything but is (1) helping to flatten down the leaf but unfortunately also (2) casting a shadow such that I could not quite do as wide of a composition as I originally wanted. But it was all too tenuous and shaky to fiddle around very much. I accidentally nudged/bumped the leaf out of position several times while I was trying to move eraser shavings around.
Speaking of eraser shavings, I made them by scribbling with coloured pencils and then erasing it with a white eraser. Turns out that "emerald green" is way too blue, as compared to the colour of this leaf. Hence the other two pencils brought in to the effort.
I think I saw this on a train platform while waiting for a passenger train, so I captured it, looked interesting.

an experiment with a 1ox magnifier filter on my Canon. I found that to sharpen it up a bit I had to use the High pass filter in PS.
Help me out with identifying this tree. I know I should know it but it escapes me. The leaves are huge and long bean like seeds hang from the tree.
Autumn Leaf
Prairie Park Nature Center is located in the east part of Lawrence, Kansas. It’s a 100 acre nature preserve with wetlands, woodlands and prairie habitats. There are many paved and dirt trails to walk and a small lake in the middle. The park is great for taking a stroll or watching the wildlife.
This photo was taken on the east side of the lake. I had to be a bit selective on where I took my photos because the humans of Lawrence like to put convenience first and have decided to put a highway right through the middle of the wetlands. So, instead of seeing nice open fields on the south side of the lake, one can now see cranes and pavement and all sorts of nature killing stuff. Go see the park for yourself, but please excuse our need for convenience; taking 10 extra minutes to drive around a natural wetlands will not be tolerated.
