Google Search says this is a microcentrum retinerve or lesser angle-wing katydid. All I know is he does a great imitation of a leaf. He was strolling around the edge of our bird bath and I provided him with a leaf which he quickly got on.
I do loves the fall color. I'm pretty sure this was the same tree as the macro leaf vein picture.

Our month-long stay in Hawaii provided for some interesting encounters with nature. This tropical plant had large green leaves that produced a very lound banging sound during rain. But the most amazing thing was that the leaves started out as tiny tubes resembling a drinking straw. It was one of those leaf straws that I invaded with my lens to get this shot.
It seems bees have take a shine to one of my trees. It takes a piece of a leaf and then comes back a couple of minutes later, so there must be a nest nearby
Cropped, taken on an FZ200, handheld, and slightly sharpened. I really am amazed that the chlorophyll structures are visible! The lighting on the green caught my eye.
