The quality of glass in the lava lamp isn’t the best, which doesn’t make for the best photo - not that it was going to be the best photo anyway, but it’s fun though, right?
Ahh, Sunday the 11th. Cleaning and relaxing, getting lightbulbs to get the last two lava lamps working and enjoying the most atmospheric evening in my cosy little home in a good while.
Lava lamps make me happy. Especially four in a row of differing colors. :-)
Exclamation Mark !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Another from the Lava Lamp. It took the lamp absolutely ages to warm up and produce these shapes. It was then a case of trying to capture interesting shapes at the right moment
The lava doesn't age well. View large.

Anyone need sterilized tacks?
I googled "sterilized tacks" and this very post comes up. lol
They are upholsterers tacks. Maybe they don't rust on upholstery when
sterilized?
purple lava lamp....... We had this in college, but the light bulb burned out in 1996 or 1997. We only found a replacement in 2007! Carolyn tried to get bulbs to replace the microwave, and they didn't fit. But they fit into our newly-installed ceiling fans, our newly-installed recessed lights, and apparantly - the lava lamp. So while it might not be Lava-Brand (where does one get those?!), it works for a party. At least it works, period, after 10 years of being out of commission!
Now if someone could direct me to a URL where I can buy lava brand bulbs...

The new Hearst Building is a bold stroke of design, half eyesore and half breathtaking shine and glass.
The new geometric tower is perched atop the staid and quietly ornate International Magazine Building (1927), in a kind of Blade Runner retrofit hybrid style. Detractors called it a Lava Lamp design, and they've got a point. Happily, I like lava lamps.
This picture has been spotted as high as #37 on the Interestingness charts.
come on in and pull up a cushion and we'll watch the lava lamp for awhile!

When I was young, I wanted a lava lamp.
There is something so wonderfully soothing about watching the changing orbs bubble and slide past each other. In my mind, I hear this voice that the lava might have. It's somewhere between James Earl Jones and Tommy Chong. Just laid back and resonant.
It would probably say things like, "Laaaaaaaamp....I am your Laaaaaaaavaaaaaaaa....Coooooool"
I think I might need to go take a nap now...
Today's Daily Shoot assignment: Take care of the Monday blues by picking up your camera. Make a photograph dominated by the color blue.
Made these for one of my husband's co-workers. I used a stencil to try to recreate the image on the original Woodstock posters. The Groovy cookies didnt come out so great, and again this was a stencil as I didnt think i could pull of the font very well and consistently. Overall I liked how the tie-dye came out and the added sanding sugar on the peace signs help them pop a bit more.
An almost peculiarly colorful bit of sunset yesterday afternoon up near the Canada / Alaska border. The sky had a very liquid appearance, as if I suddenly had found myself inside a LavaLamp looking out. The colors reminded me of one of those bright Yellow Submarine style Peter Max illustrations of the 1960s.
Watching a lava lamp slowly moving around is very relaxing and therapeutic for Meredith during this bustling Christmas season.
