I have a lava lamp. Besides the cool shapes made by the wax in the lamp, I also get a light show on the ceiling.

#3016 - 2016 Day 94: The breakdown of my bedside light led me to switch on this lava lamp for the first time in ages. Of course I had to photograph it ...
The design era between Art Deco, and Mid-century Modern; also known as Art Moderne...
As the Great Depression of the 1930s progressed, Americans saw a new aspect of Art Deco—i.e., streamlining, a concept first conceived by industrial designers who stripped Art Deco design of its ornament in favor of the aerodynamic pure-line concept of motion and speed developed from scientific thinking. Cylindrical forms and long horizontal windowing also may be influenced by constructivism. As a result an array of designers quickly ultra-modernized and streamlined the designs of everyday objects. Manufacturers of clocks, radios, telephones, cars, furniture, and many other household appliances embraced the concept.

when you have over 7,000 pictures that you have shot, its fun to mix and match.. soon you see a theme emerging from your experiments, and then you start controlling it a little... guiding it... fascilitating it... but the picture, at the end of the day, just seems to make itself. you are just a tool.
this one, for example, is a combination of eight or nine pictures. photographs of lavalamps, chawpatty, and random people on the road.
Two Frame Panoramic (HDR) NOTE: Lots of stuff to explore in the Original size! Also: I previously drew up a 'List of 25 Things to Find'. If anyone is interested I will furnish it.
Our friend Dr McBrick is a Professor of Popular Culture in real life. He built a MOC of his study at the University and showed it online, so we used the picture to build this, which is a smaller version for his bespoke Habitat!

Having recently posted a picture of a bottle of whiskey and an IPA, I fiqure I should give equal billing to red wine -- what I typically drink. Here, a "value-priced" Cabernet and glass, pictures of my children when they were young, a shot from Road Atlanta, a Dodge Viper diecast model, and my lava lamp.

taken for Our Daily Challenge - Shadows
The sun didn't come out until the end of the day today so I had to experiment indoors. I thought the iconic lava lamp might be interesting. I could not capture the "lava" doing its thing. It is something about the refraction pattern of the glass and liquid itself that creates the inner shadow pattern. I played with layers and levels to create the sharp deep contrast which said lava to me.
A real trippy moment brought on by that peyote mushroom I took.
Well actually this is a video taken with the 3D Morph camera app on my iphone.
A useful app for distorting or warping video shots of reality into unreality.
This would probably make a good gif.
It finally happened, back in May I caught COVID and had to lock myself in our spare room. These photos are the results
You've no idea how hard I've looked for a gift to bring You.
Nothing seemed right.
What's the point of bringing gold to the gold mine, or water to the Ocean.
Everything I came up with was like taking spices to the Orient.
It's no good giving my heart and my soul because you already have these.
So- I've brought you a mirror.
Look at yourself and remember me.
