Got this beautiful antique from our sister-in-law Sharon's mother. It comes with 3 of this and we hung up 2. The 3rd one is now for sale by auction. Hahaha..
I made a bunch of lamps with the pretty much the same shaped base. Basically an experiment to figure out what type of wood and finish I like best. I've been calling them Puck Lamps.
Made out of oak and finished with tung oil.

PICTURE OF THE WEEK
Each week we select our favourite Flickr photo from South Bank Snaps
Another beautiful reflection shot this week. We love how the iconic South Bank street lamps have been captured in this wintry puddle showing the beauty of the area, even in adverse weather conditions!

I was trying to find a subject for this rainy day when this Mets lamp caught my eye. We had bought it for my parents a few years ago, but when they sold their house they gave it back to us. I've always liked how its warm glow can brighten up a grey day.
The little stuffed Mets apple is from Shea Stadium - just a cute item that I have always liked.
A lamp arrangement made from an old collapsible vegetable steamer sieve, braided copper wire, a used table lamp stand, and a quad-coil filament light bulb.
Contrary to what many people believe, a Tiffany lamp is nothing to do with the jewellery company of the same name – nor indeed, the perpetually elegant Ms Holly Golightly. Instead, it’s meticulously designed and handmade by the company founded by Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1943), an American artist and designer noted for his work in Art Nouveau stained glass. He created his first lamp in 1895 or thereabouts – and the rest, as they say, is history.
I photographed this short set of images, with the manager’s permission, at the Tiffany shop in the Starhill Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – quite the most upmarket shopping mall I’ve ever visited.

Part of the Hotels Set (see Places collection).
Some observations:
1. Only hotels have lamps like these
2. All hotel lampshades must be on crooked
3. Only hotels have textured walls like these
4. At least some hotel lamps are located in places that light places you don't care to.
Strobist: one bare EX580 held at camera level ( to avoid making shadows), set on manual at 1/64 power.
What can I say, I like lamps. Yes, another lamp picture, but this isn't just any other lamp! This is my FAVORITE lamp. It's been raining non-stop for the last three days and I'm eagerly waiting for it to stop so I can take the camera outside again. Sunshine state?! Yeah right!
Don't mistake this one for the chalk drawings! This is a genuine vintage lamp with a "pagoda" shade and a brass base. We stripped off the tattered silk, sanded the shade frame, and painted it black. We've chosen to leave it empty with an Edison bulb inside--the effect is very striking. Come for this right away if you like it, because it's a rehabbed piece and they're a bit hard to find...
Got this beautiful lamp and several organizers for $5!
Thinking about painting the wooden part, and get a new shade.

I needed some help just to get down in the floor and back up. We haven't covered that in physical therapy yet.

Artistic and ornate lamp post across a bridge, with impressive details. This was obviously built in the good old days - I can't imagine any city investing so much into a street lamp today!
Of course, as the city grew, all the electric cables and the other eye sores of modern day life appeared to clutter the scene, and also provide a contrast.
