Today the We're Here group are visiting the Lampost, Lamps and Streetlights group.
After all the stormy weather of the last few days, we got a colourful sunset this evening :)

This Lamp Post is at a beach resort in eastern Scotland.

For once, the machines are put to work especially for the Oyfo photography students. An industrial hanging lamp was also turned on, an unimaginable amount of light

This is one of Louize's efforts and all her own idea, for me this was very well seen and framed and what's more a very different type of sunset shot. This is a view along the river Thames with the Dartford Bridge in the distance.
The lamp post is an actual sculpture from the Halifax Waterfront, the rest is me playing around in Elements and finishing it off in Snap Art.
I was going to add a melting watch, but felt it would clutter the image too much.

This is the lamp reflecting in the window that is on my dresser in the bedroom.
Saturday Self Challenge
This week anything Vintage/Retro. Process however you wish. May be colour or B&W. There is a lot of opportunity to be creative!
Calcium Carbide lamps originally date from around the start of the 20th century. This pair belong to my husband who used them for caving, they are from the mid 1970’s.
The caving, or mining lamp, has calcium carbide placed in its lower chamber, called the generator. Water is then put in the upper reservoir.
A valve is used to control the rate at which the water drips through into the chamber containing the calcium carbide. Controlling the rate of the flow of water determines the production of acetylene gas. This in turn controls the rate of the gas flow and the size of the flame at the burner and the amount of light it produces.
The lamp has a reflector behind the flame to help project the light forward, this type of lamp produces a very bright broad light.
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
