Keep an eye out the window as you are traveling through Central New Jersey on Amtrak or New Jersey Transit, and you just might catch sight of this spooky old burial ground near the Metuchen train station.
I would like to recognize Walter Zjawin, Past Commander of American Legion Post 401, and retired Metuchen police officer Bill Smith, chair of the Cemetery Committee, for their assistance in retrieving the following history:
The Old Colonial Cemetery is only 1 3/4 acres in size, after a significant loss of acreage in the mid-19th century to make way for railroad expansion. By the early 1970s, the burial ground was neglected, experiencing erosion at the margins and overgrown by invasive plants. First Presbyterian Church recognized that they could no longer maintain the site and arranged to sell the Old Colonial Cemetery to the Borough of Metuchen for $1. Since then, the graves of 31 Revolutionary War Veterans have been identified, and the cemetery grounds cleaned up and protected from further injury by the Cemetery Committee of the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society.
Ran into this interesting homebrew "keep left" illuminated sign on SE Stark at 33rd. It's attached to the back of a truck.

"Keep on Truckin'" is a one-page comic by Robert Crumb. It was published in the first issue of Zap Comix in 1968. A visual riff on the lyrics of the Blind Boy Fuller song "Truckin' My Blues Away", it consists of an assortment of men, drawn in Crumb's distinctive style, strutting confidently across various landscapes. The strip's drawings became iconic images of optimism during the hippie era.
The Keep Hall. The white door is the only external access to the Keep & is designed so that a rider can pass through while still mounted. The interior wall & door have since been redesigned.
I don't know who this one is at all..
She has a few marks and paint coming off on lips.
Should I keep her or sell her?

Raindrops keep falling...
After a busy day today, I got home late to fast fading light! As i pulled my car into the drive I noticed the raindrops, in near military precision, lined up on the fence in front of the house.
I dashed inside and grabbed my camera, tripod and CJs amazing macro lens - oh and a waterproof jacket!!
After setting up and waiting for some time to catch a falling raindrop - I didn't - I wished my jacket was a little longer, as I felt the rain drip down the backs of my legs...

I have seen this El-Camino and its hand-painted "Keep on Truckin'" art around for a long time and finally today I was able to snap this pic of it parked at the Post Office in Clarkdale.
