Buntzen Lake
Buntzen Lake is a BC Hydro reservoir. In 1903 the Buntzen hydroelectric project was put in service by the Vancouver Power Company to provide the first hydroelectric power to Vancouver.
The project involved raising the level of the dam on Coquitlam Lake and excavating a 3.6 km tunnel to carry water from Coquitlam Lake to Buntzen Lake. The tunnel runs under Eagle Mountain, reaching a maximum depth of 1.2 km below the surface, and empties into the north end of Buntzen Lake.
Water from Buntzen Lake flows through penstocks down the steep mountain slope to two power plants located on Indian Arm. Buntzen No. 1 was constructed in 1903 with an initial capacity of 1,500 kW. A second powerhouse, Buntzen No. 2, was completed in 1914 with three pelton wheels delivering a total of 26,700 kW to meet Vancouver's continually increasing demand for secure electricity.
The generating equipment in Buntzen No. 1 was modernized in 1951 to produce 55,000 kW of power. At the turn of the millennium Buntzen No. 1 was shut down. Buntzen No. 2 is monitored and operated by a remote control facility in Burnaby.
In addition to powering the two hydroelectric plants, water from Buntzen is an essential part of the operation of the Burrard Generating Station. Fresh water from Buntzen is used to produce the steam to power Burrard's generators.
The natural gas-powered Burrard Generating Station plays an important role to provide back-up for the hydroelectric system during low water years, and also to provide transmission support and electrical supply security for the Lower Mainland.

Best viewed a little larger, that fence stretches off unbelievably straight for as far as I can see. It's the boundary between BLM land and the Jemez Reservation, and a lot of your tax dollars probably went into surveying it and setting it within fractions of an inch.
Stonebarrow Keep was my first large-scale Castle MOC I built with absolutely no plan. I just let the creativity flow. I think it's one of my best MOCs.
Had the opportunity to chill with my cousin again (which I haven't seen in ages) last Saturday night at the Prestige bar, where my other cousin had a solo concert that evening. As you know, it is always nice to have a chitchat and catch up on things to someone you haven't seen in a long time. And again, I just like you to know that it was nice seeing you bro! I know you're a busy man now so just remember: Keep Calm & Live Life (heh, my own version of Keep Calm & Carry On).

A bit of a tenuous link so stick with me. If you've listened to or know the song it'll be pretty clear that it's about a culture of casual sex and its misgivings: "you won't find love in a hole, it takes more than f***ing someone to keep yourself warm".
Now this wasn't a song that was picked for ease of shooting, rather just because I love the song. I considered the options for a literal look at the songs meanings and decided against the obvious choice of taking pictures of someone I don't know to keep warm!
Instead I've gone for another way many people choose to fill themselves with warmth, one however that I don't really see eye to eye with, in much the same way that FR don't see eye to eye with the Friday night love affairs.
Whenever I'm home I pass this church with a neon cross visible from the road and it's always bothered me. I'm not a religious person, although I'm more than happy for people to practice whatever faith they choose. I don't like having someone elses faith pushed upon me and when that does happen I tend to argue it down as something that only exists to diminish the fear of the prospect of nothing after death. At times of desperation or loss people turn to their respective god for help, advice and solace. If this works for an individual then I would never dream of denying them that right. I, however, see it purely as a way of keeping yourself warm in the cold days and nights when your own person isn't enough.
I hope this doesn't antagonise as that really isn't the intention. Merely making my opinions felt in a more appropriate way than a literal interpretation of the song would have allowed.
