I love this poster, it's so quintessentially British. I try to live my life by its motto.

I was on a walking bridge across the Milwaukee river and this man was rowing underneath it. It was the perfect spot to get these birdseye style photos.

Thanks for looking.

Taken at sunset in a mid-north country town in South Australia.

I found this behavior quite disturbing as I watched this small warbler feeding its demanding, oversized young. They are chicks of brood parasitic cowbirds. The females forego nests to put all their energy into producing eggs.....more than 3 dozen per nesting season. They lay their eggs in the nests of other birds, often at the expense of the foster parents own young. Many consider them a nuisance bird, as they have been implicated in the decline of species like Kirtland Warblers and Black-capped Vireos. I watched this activity over the course of several days.....but never saw the parents fly to a nest to feed its own babies. I assume these 2 pretenders were too big for the nest as they stayed in a spot under a bush where the small parents kept trying to keep them fed. The babies would pounce on the warblers, knocking them back as they fought over the food brought. I know it's not the fault of the young Cowbirds they are in this situation....I wish there was an answer.

Daily Dog Challenge: Left

Built in 1138 by Henri de Blois, grandson of William the Conqueror, Bishop of Winchester, the castle was to become the home of the Bishops of Winchester for over 800 years. The original building was demolished by Henry II in 1155 after the Anarchy and then rebuilt in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. In the early 15th century, it was the residence of Cardinal Henry Beaufort who presided at the trial of Joan of Arc in 1414. It is for this reason that St Joan of Arc's Church in Farnham is dedicated to her.[1] The castle was slighted again after the Civil War in 1648. Since then more buildings have been constructed in the castle's grounds, the most impressive being those built by Bishop George Morley in the 17th century.

The architecture reflects changing styles through the ages, making it one of the most important historical buildings in the south of England. It is an impressive stone motte and bailey fortress, which has been in continuous occupation since the 12th century. The large motte was formed around the massive foundations of a Norman tower and then totally enclosed by a shell-keep, with buttress turrets and a shallow gatehouse. Attached to the motte is a triangular inner bailey, with a fine range of domestic buildings and a fifteenth-century brick entrance tower. The formidable outer bailey curtain wall has square flanking towers, a 13th-century gatehouse and a large ditch.

The castle is set in 5 acres (20,000 m2) of gardens overlooking the town of Farnham.

In the Second World War, the castle was the location of the Camouflage Development and Training Centre.[2] Here, artists such as Roland Penrose, Stanley William Hayter, and Julian Trevelyan as well as the magician Jasper Maskelyne were trained in the arts of military camouflage.

Along The Passion Way

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

Everybody is going somewhere,

With each night and day;

Futures are here and there,

Along the passion way.

Hearts are looking dangerous,

With their wings and fire;

Thoughts so often feverous,

In their searching desire.

Love will walk through alleys,

And twisted dreams in cities;

With all its many dillydallies,

And heat of the nights kitties.

Dreams must flicker and burn,

In ways of the pretty moonlight;

There is no way to return,

When love catches the ways of night.

Everybody searches the streets,

Trying with a plan to start;

Fragile and heavy bittersweets,

Messages to understand the heart.

With simple ways for a survival,

Though nothing can be controlled;

Planing schemes for each rival,

Tonight in the city shall unfold.

Lovely shoes. It was a little dark for me to get a clearer shot.

The ground inside the chicken enclosure at Wright-Locke Farm is getting littered with old pumpkins, which the flock enjoys eating. This legbar is a favorite hen of mine. I like her elegant appearance, and she doesn't let her cracked beak cramp her style. She also lays eggs with a light green shell, like all leg bars.

Sign on window says "Please stay out of and off truck." Damn! I had a couple of nude models all lined up for a shoot.

Just experimenting with some black and whites and a bit of grain. I really liked the look of this door as I passed it with the small, oval shaped windows and the spring door off to the left, as well as the "no parking" stenciled writing.
