Dr. Elliot McGucken's Hero's Odyssey Fine Art Landscape Photography! The breaking Malibu mist was epic!
Hero's Odyssey Fine Art Landscape & Nature Photography for Los Angeles Gallery Show !
Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!
And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!
The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)
Some (almost) final edits for my Los Angeles Gallery Show! Here's how I do it:
Print: Fuji Crystal Lightjet Metallic front-mounted to 1/4" Acrylic.
Acrylic: 1/4" with regular polished edge
Backing: White aluminum 3mm
Hanging Mechanism: Silver aluminum float box
I'll be using the top-of-the-line, museum-quality gallery format consists of the highest-quality prints on Fujicolor Crystal Archival Paper, front-mounted to UV-resistant protective acrylic, backed by a solid aluminum sheet, and fastened to an aluminum silver frame "float box" for mounting on the wall.

Col. John Litz, Baltimore District commander, joined Fort Belvoir officials and emergency services personnel during the ribbon cutting ceremony for the North Post Vehicle Access Control Point (ACP), or Lieber Gate, on Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Aug. 23, 2019. The ACP includes a two lane entry access road, vehicle inspection canopy, gatehouse, search building, search area shelter, guard booth, overwatch station, truck inspection canopy, ID check canopy, passive vehicle guardrail and traffic control. The Lieber Gate is one of several significant contributions to infrastructure improvements on Fort Belvoir that will allow for an improved security posture on the installation. The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, the City of San Antonio and U.S, Army North joined forces to organize a city-wide 9-11 Tenth Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony at the Alamo on Sunday. Officials representing all branches of the Armed Forces, the San Antonio Police Department and Fire Department, city and elected officials, federal and state law enforcement agencies, Boy and Girl Scout troops and leaders in the San Antonio Community of Congregations gathered at Alamo Plaza from 7:30 to 9:05, Sunday morning to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Lt. Gen. Guy C. Swan III, spoke of duty, honor and courage quoting remarks made by General Douglas MacArthur as he referred to the heroic efforts of emergency responders, law enforcement officials and ordinary people that tragic day. “All Americans learned the meaning of those words when we were attacked here at home. While first responders, flight attendants, doctors, Soldiers, Airmen and average citizens came together to help their fellow Americans --- still 2,996 died that day.”
The commemoration ceremony marked each attack with audio news clips and a moment of silence. It also included the laying of a memorial yellow wreath, a 21-gun salute, the playing of taps, "Amazing Grace" played on bagpipes, bells ringing, and "God Bless America" played by the Joint Army and Air Force Band.
Speakers included San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro; Air Force Department Chief Chaplain BG Howard Stendahl; Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce President Richard Perez; U.S. Air Force Air Education Training Commander Gen. Edward A. Rice, Jr.; San Antonio Fire Department Chief Charles Hood; San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus; Installation Management Command- Command Sergeant Major Neil Ciotola; U.S. Marshall R. Altamonte; and Texas Sen. Jeff Wentworth. Rabbi Aryeh Scheinburg and Moderator of the Curia Rev. Martin Leopold gave the closing co-prayer.
The event ended with the ringing of the city bells, "God Bless America" played by the Joint Army and Air Force Band and the final words of United Airlines flight 93 passenger Todd Beamer, "Let's roll."

This festival honors Mexico’s patron saint with music, dancing and performances including mariachi bands, folklorico dancers, the Yaqui Deer Dancers and Domingo DeGrazia’s Spanish-guitar band. The festival also features a Los Posada procession where children from the Carrillo Magnet School sing in honor of the saint culminating at the Mission in the Sun. Local food and art vendors offer southwestern fair and souvenirs to guests. The event is FREE and open to the public.
