These were the most obliging and accomodating fish you can imagine - they let me join their school and get right in amongst them without breaking formation! It was a real thrill, and I encountered them on several occasions and they were like, "oh well, come on then!" I have lots of photos of them, to come........

We teamed up with Joining Hearts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing housing support to people living with HIV and AIDS in Atlanta, to host the charity's annual Valentine's Day themed, Love on the Rocks event at our Atlanta showroom on Sunday, February 8. The sold-out event was a huge success, raising nearly $25,000 from ticket sales and the silent auction! Thanks so much to the amazing community in Atlanta and all our friends that came out to support!

This was a nationwide protest which was sponsored by Join the Impact and held on Saturday, November 15th, 2008. The nationwide protest was formed to combat propositions 2 (Florida), 8 (California), 102 (Arizona) and the anti-gay adoption bill in Arkansas.
This particular protest was held at Phoenix City Hall for most of the morning and then we all marched to the Arizona State Capital.
Gay marriage is a civil rights issue, not a religion issue. Proposition 8 took away an existing rights from the GLBT community in California. It is totally wrong and unconstitutional to take away existing rights from a group of people.
Proposition 102 was put on the ballot in Arizona by the unethical actions of the republicans in the state senate. It is totally disgusting on what the republicans did. They forever tarnished the image of the Arizona State Senate.

You can clearly hear couple of the senators saying "Point to Order, Point to Order" in the video. You can see that some of the senators break their own rules in order to put 102 on the ballot. That right there is very unethical.
I joined with thousands of Canadians to pay my respects to the victims of the attack in Toronto. Our prayers and thoughts continue to be with the loved ones of everyone impacted. As we come to terms with the loss and heartbreak from Monday’s attack, we will continue to support the families of the victims as they face the unimaginable. Even while mourning, the people of Toronto, their compassion, community, and spirit remain strong.

Part 1: Monday, March 21 - Choose from 2 meeting times: Noon at Peet's Coffee & Tea (B Street & Mission) or 6:30 p.m. at the Main Library
Meet with local community members to discuss Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer by Novella Carpenter, an entertaining memoir about running an urban farm in an abandoned lot in downtown Oakland. On her small plot, Carpenter not only grows a wide variety of vegetables, but also raises bees, goats, rabbits, geese, and other farmyard animals.
Part 2: Saturday, March 26 - 2 p.m.: Meet Novella Carpenter at the Hayward Public Library.
Novella Carpenter writes about urban farming and sustainable food production for various publications, including her blog, Ghost Town Farm. She studied with Michael Pollan at U.C. Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, and has written for Mother Jones, Salon and SF Gate. Her best-selling memoir Farm City was named a best book in 2009 by the New York Times and other media. Don’t miss the opportunity to talk about the Library’s “Book-to-Action” selection with the author herself!

Volunteer at the Intergenerational Community Garden Work Day at Ochoa Middle School Garden – 2121 Depot Road, Hayward – Near Chabot College. The Ochoa Middle School Garden is one of twenty-five school gardens operated in the Hayward Unified School District, and overseen by Project EAT (“Educate, Act, Thrive”), an extensive program coordinated by the Alameda County Office of Education. Project EAT’s unique program involves K-12 students, parents, and schools to create a community that makes healthier eating and lifestyle choices. Project EAT promotes physical activity in garden-based nutrition education and cooking connection classes for students during the school day and after school. Healthy Living classes for parents and community members are provided free to low-income families. Through hands-on learning students establish a life-long dedication to their communities and the environment. Joined the Great Saunter on 05.03.14, the one day each year when the members of Shorewalkers walk around the perimeter of Manhattan, covering 32 miles of the city's coastal edge. The walk started with a registration at the Fraunces Tavern in lower Manhattan but I was about 10 minutes late and joined the group in Battery Park City. These were the pics I took while walking along the west side of Manhattan, the last pics of the west side were taken at Inwood Hill Park where we had a brief stop for lunch.
