I joined a round robin journal swap on swap-bot even though I was so disappointed by the last one I joined. I hope everyone keeps up their end of the deal and keeps the journals moving.
I'm starting with an old book form 1926, "The Plough and The Stars". I will add a few pages and then send it to my partner.
The pages are old, but they aren't very brittle. I pulled a bunch of pages out of the signatures so it will have room to grow.
I might gesso a few pages for future partners as the pages really soak up paint and water.

Their mutual love for graffiti is a strong undercurrent in the work, but it’s hardly the sole source of inspiration. Unleashed over a sprawling mosaic of over one hundred, unique, square tiles, Mr. Boy reflects an insight into the people, places and memories that just might make life worth living…

Joined by the Chief Advisor of SoDel Concepts Alan Levin, Department of Correction leaders, members of the BWCI Garden Club, and others, Governor Markell will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the recently constructed BWCI greenhouse. Construction for the greenhouse was supported through funding raised by attendees at the May, 2015 ‘Breaking Bread Behind Bars’ event at the prison when students in the BWCI culinary program worked alongside chefs from the Delaware restaurant group SoDel Concepts to prepare a four-course meal. The new greenhouse will enhance the culinary and horticulture program at BWCI and inmate members of the prison’s Garden Club will share their stories of how this new facility is supporting their efforts to learn new skills during their incarceration.

Hero's Odyssey Fine Art Landscape & Nature Photography for Los Angeles Gallery Show !
Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!
And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!
The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)
Some (almost) final edits for my Los Angeles Gallery Show! Here's how I do it:
Print: Fuji Crystal Lightjet Metallic front-mounted to 1/4" Acrylic.
Acrylic: 1/4" with regular polished edge
Backing: White aluminum 3mm
Hanging Mechanism: Silver aluminum float box
I'll be using the top-of-the-line, museum-quality gallery format consists of the highest-quality prints on Fujicolor Crystal Archival Paper, front-mounted to UV-resistant protective acrylic, backed by a solid aluminum sheet, and fastened to an aluminum silver frame "float box" for mounting on the wall.

Please join us for a conversation on understanding modern anti-Semitism in Europe. Following the tragic Charlie Hebdo, Toulouse and Copenhagen attacks, what is the current state of security for Jewish communities in Europe and what are the driving forces behind this surge in anti-Semitic violence? As economies weaken and a migration crisis grows, nationalist, populist, and xenophobic sentiment has increased across Europe. Are failed multicultural and integration policies, shifting demographics, and fading memories of the Holocaust to blame? What steps should governments and civil society take – beyond enhancing security at Jewish schools and synagogues – to bridge cross-cultural divides and enhance societal cohesion? Our panelists will help us understand the dynamics driving Europe's anti-Semitism as well as reflect on the difficulties that governments and societies face in combating this trend.
