On 27th April, more than 500 guests joined the British Embassy in Bahrain in celebrating the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at a garden party hosted by Her Britannic Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Simon Martin CMG, and his wife Sophie. The British Embassy was proud to receive His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa as Guest of Honour, representing His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The theme of this year’s event was the 200 years anniversary of UK-Bahraini relations, launched in January by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and the First Deputy Prime Minister, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Ambassador Simon Martin commented:
2016 is unique year for The Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, as we celebrate 200 years of friendship. We also mark Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday, in the year after She became our longest reigning monarch. I was delighted to welcome so many British and Bahraini guests and friends of our two countries, to my first Queen’s Birthday Party here in Bahrain.
Ambassador Martin expressed his gratitude to BAE Systems, EuroMotors, and National Express, for their generous sponsorship of the event. He also thanked the Royal Marines Band and the students of St Christopher’s School Bahrain.
الإحتفال بعيد ميلاد صاحبة الجلالة ملكة بريطانيا
في السابع والعشرين من أبريل، حضر أكثر من 500 ضيف إحتفال السفارة البريطانية بمناسية عيد ميلاد الملكة إليزابيث الثانية التسعين، وذلك في حفل أقامه في حديقة السفارة سفير صاحبة الجلالة لدى مملكة البحرين سايمون مارتن CMG وزوجته صوفي . السفارة فخورة بالترحيب بضيف شرف الحفل الشيخ عيسى بن سلمان آل خليفة، ممثلا عن صاحب الجلالة الملك حمد بن عيسى آل خليفة.
إحتفال هذا العام ركز على مرور مائتي عام على العلاقات بين البحرين وبريطانيا، والذي تم تدشين إحتفالاتها في يناير من العام الجاري برعاية ولي العهد، النائب الأول لرئيس مجلس الوزراء صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير سلمان بن حمد بن عيسى آل خليفة.
بهذه المناسبة قال السفير سايمون مارتن:" عام 2016، عام متميز لمملكة البحرين وللمملكة المتحدة، فنحن نحتفل بمرور مائتي عام من الصداقة. كما إننا نحتفل بعيد ميلاد الملكة إليزابيث التسعين، والذي يأتي بعد عام من إعتبارها أطول من تولى مقاليد الحكم في المملكة المتحدة. لقد كنت سعيدا للغاية بالترحيب بهذا العدد الكبير من الضيوف من البحرين وبريطانيا، وأصدقاء بلدينا، في حفلة عيد ميلاد الملكة الأولى لي في البحرين.
السفير مارتن عبر عن إمتتنانه لرعاة الحفل، BAE systems ، السيارات الأوروبية، وناشونال إكسبرس، لكرمهم الكبير ولرعايتهم حفل. كما شكر السفير فرقة مشاة البحرية الملكية البريطانية وطلبة مدرسة سانت كريستوفر.

CHICAGO – Governor Pat Quinn today was joined by Chicago Alderman Pat Dowell to announce an honorary street named for Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, an Illinois native. The street - Wabash at the intersection of 53rd Street – is near where Governor Patrick grew up and has been unveiled as “Honorary Gov. Deval Patrick Ave.”

Viaduct Basin (often Viaduct Harbour) is a former commercial harbour on the Auckland waterfront, now turned into a development of mostly upscale apartments,office space and restaurants. It is located on the site of a formerly run-down area of the Freemans Bay / Auckland CBD waterfront in Auckland City, New Zealand. As a centre of activity of the 2000 America's Cup hosted by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, the area enjoyed considerable popularity with locals and foreign visitors.
Viaduct Harbour hosts many fabulous events including the past America’s Cup defences, Louis Vuitton Regattas, the Volvo Round the World Race stopover March 2012.
The Auckland metropolitan area in the North Island of New Zealand, is the largest and most populous urban area in the country with 1,377,200 residents, 31 percent of the country's population.
Auckland has the largest Polynesian population of any city in the world. In Māori Auckland's names are Tāmaki Makaurau, and the transliterated version of Auckland, Ākarana.
Auckland lies between the Hauraki Gulf of the Pacific Ocean to the east, the low Hunua Ranges to the south-east, the Manukau Harbour to the south-west, and the Waitakere Ranges and smaller ranges to the west and north-west. The central part of the urban area occupies a narrow isthmus between the Manukau Harbour on the Tasman Sea and the Waitemata Harbour on the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the few cities in the world to have harbours on two separate major bodies of water.
