Hundreds joined us for the Pontifical High Mass on the feast of Candlemas on Sunday, February 2nd.
Candlemas commemorates the purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary and is also known as "The Presentation of Our Lord." This feast traditionally closes the Christmas season. The Holy Mass was celebrated by Bishop Joseph N. Perry.
The name Candlemas comes from the activities associated with the feast. It came to be known as the Candle Mass. A procession with lighted candles is the distinctive rite. This procession into the church for Mass commemorates Christ’s entrance into the temple.
Simeon, upon seeing the Messiah, gave thanks to the Lord, singing a hymn now called the Nunc Dimittis which is chanted at this particular Mass:
Lord, now you let your servant go in peace, your word has been fulfilled: My own eyes have seen the salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of every people: a Light to reveal you to the nations and the Glory of your people Israel.

Sydney C-class 290, and 29, J-class 675 and former D-class now scrubber car 34s welcome guests to Sydney Tramway Museum.
Sydney O-class tram 1111 turns 100 on 31 July 2012. So, over the weekend 28-29 July the Sydney Tramway Museum provided special running for visitors to the site. The weekend saw special night running on the Saturday evening and visits on the Sunday of former NSW Minister for Transport, Milton Morris as well as the current Minister Gladys Berejiklian. Sunday also saw the unveiling of special plaques both commemorating the occasion and giving thanks for the assistance of Milton Morris for his support of the Museum both in his private capacity as well as when Minister in a former NSW Government.

Staff members of the Belvoir Hospital join together for a few hours during an Esprit de Corps “One Team Festival” held in the hospital’s garden September 30, 2022. From food trucks to dunk tanks, from service dogs to Tug-of-War, the opportunity for bonding and socialization, for the first time since the onset of the Pandemic, was met with smiles and a deeper appreciation for this the organization and each other.
The Belvoir Hospital is a 120-bed, 1.3 million-square-foot military community hospital that serves a regional population of 250,000 personnel with about 100,000 enrollees receiving inpatient and specialty care services supported by 55 specialty clinics, a Warrior Pavilion (for combat injured/wounded/ ill), Inpatient Addictions Program, and three satellite family health centers at the Pentagon, Dumfries and Fairfax, Va.

My father, Lee Minor (1914-2009), grew up on the west side of Chicago. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933 at the age of 18. A first generation American just graduated from high school, the CCC seemed the best of the few options available to him as the Great Depression deepened. This is a shoulder flash for 6th Armd Bde. When I joined the HQ, they had recently moved from Barnard Castle. Previously they had been part of 2nd Infantry Division, the key representing one of the 2 Div crossed keys, the bayonet the fact it had been an infantry brigade. A future commander changed the brigade symbol to a rhinoceros. On moving to Germany 6 Bde took over accommodation left by the Canadians who redeployed from Koerbecke near Soest, to the Black Forest area. This accommodation was, for the British Army at that time, sumptuous, and later copied as part of the Op Humane barracks upgrade programme.

Rockaway Beach, Queens, NY. We joined the Reach Out Rye club to head down to the Rockaways and help clean up. Thankfully, it was well organized, because I would not know where or how to begin. I don't know that we made a dent, but maybe a scratch. We did clean out one woman's whole basement and shoveled away sand that blocked the entrance to an elementary school. It is such a mess there. Please don't forget those people and give how you can. We did not see the Red Cross. Instead Occupy Sandy had set up the "store" filled with donations and monitored distribution.
This picture was taken from the beach, looking back. These were the handball courts and the wood is the boardwalk, which entirely washed away. The concrete was completely buckled.

Soldiers and their Families from Task Force Pegasus Fires and the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade donated toys to Santa's Workshop on Fort Hood, Texas, Nov. 16.
