Three surprised and delighted fitness trainers from three different continents are selected to join Technogym as Master Trainers at the Beijing Olympics.
Technogym is the Exclusive Official Supplier to the BOCOG (Beijing Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games). More than 20.000 athletes from over 200 countries will be using our equipment and software in over 15 different locations in Beijing.
In addition to providing training equipment for the Olympic athletes, Technogym is also flying in with a lot of its own trainers to help athletes as they prepare for their events. For the first time in its history at Olympic events, Technogym is also bringing in three additional trainers, none of them affiliated with the company.
Earlier this year Technogym sent out an invitation to fitness trainers around the world, asking them to apply for one of three spots as guest trainers with the Technogym team. Over 1.000 people applied, went through a rigorous selection process and then waited to hear the final results.
"It has been a remarkable process. - Nerio Alessandri, Technogym President, said - Our search for these three trainers has been part of a huge, integrated plan to get our equipment and people to Beijing, and do the best job possible for all the Olympic athletes as they prepare for their events. At the beginning, this was just one of many projects we had undertaken as part of our preparation. But as the selection process progressed, all of us here came to recognize the enormous value of talking with over a thousand trainers, from all over the world, all of whom use our equipment. It has been an incredibly valuable exercise for us with benefits that we had never anticipated. I only wish we had more places available for guest trainers."
We're now delighted to announce the names of the three trainers who were selected. They're Katie De-Mouilpied, Rodney Corn and Sjouke Vellema.

I mention this, as we were off to that London for a celebration with the guys from A Word in your Ear podcast, aka Messers Ellen and Hepworth, and joining them and us, the massive would be Danny Baker (of course) and Graham Gouldman once of 10CC.
It would mean a day in that London, at least one meal out, and maybe some drinks as I am not suffering from gout this year.
The show started at two, in Holland Park again, and as the new heavy cross London line, Crossrail, aka The Elizabether Line had opened, I thought I might go to snap that too.
A plan was forming.
And the Northern Line extension to Battersea Power Station was yet to be ridden by me, so there was the plan.
All we had to do was get up in time and make a train early enough to be able to do all what we wanted.
Simple.
Of course, as there was a plan and a train we wanted to catch just before eight, we lay in bed until quarter to seven, giving us just enough time to have a coffee, get dressed and be down the station to buy our tickets and to get one.
We did make it, with a few minutes to spare. Really, the only reason for going so early was a parking space dwon near Priory station. As it was, I nabbed the final space, so we were able to board in a stree-free fashion.
The train glided out, and we settled back; me looking out the window and Jools reading her e-book.
Not much to say about the ride up, but we got out at Stratford, walked through the shopping mall. It was just before nine, so few stores open, but people already lining up to go in and spend, spend, spend. We walked through, over the bridge spanning the regional station, then following the signs to the Elizabeth Line onto platform 5 for a few minutes wait.
I was expecting the train to plunge into the tunnel at Pudding Mill Lane, but instead it crudied into Liverpool Street main line station, though without stopping, coming to rest at the buffers on platform 16. Just by the steps leading up to Bishopsgate, which was handy, as I had scoped out a place to eat for breakfast.
The POlo Bar is a 24 hour a day joint, and had great reviews. I fancied pancakes and bacon with lots of syrup, which is what I ordered, though no coffee as it was so hot.
The weather was due to break, but for the time being it was over 25 degrees, no air con in the place and all I could order was orange juice and still still long enough to cool down. Which I did.
Four buttermilk pancakes came, each adorned with a slice of smoked bacon and a small jug of syrup. I know, syrup and bacon shouldn't go together, but they do. Well.
Jools had a small fried breakfast, so we had eaten well.
We walked back down onto the street, then over to the station and down to the new trhough platforms, and it was here that I found that, for now, the central section started and finished here and at Paddington, so to travel further involved a change.
I was happy going to Paddington, as I wanted to snap the stations and passenger throughways, so I was happy going straight to Paddington, getting shots, then going back to Tottenham Court Road where Jools would find a quiet place while I headed down on the Northern Line to Battersea.
In truth the stations pretty much look the same at platform level, but Paddingtn has some round designs on the ceiling, while Totten Court Road has a variation of this. Anyway, while shiny and new they look great and took many shots.
DHSS joined DNREC in signing a partnership agreement April 11 with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Delaware State University to work together to enhance research, teaching, outreach, career development and stewardship in environmental sciences and public health with students and faculty at the university.
"We know we need more students excited about STEM careers," said DHSS Secretary Dr. Kara Odom Walker, who is a board-certified family physician. "We're excited to be a new partner." DNREC Secretary Shawn Garvin said, "DSU has an incredible student body and we're trying to figure out how we introduce them to DNREC." He said he hopes to have a formal internship program in place late this spring.
DSU President Dr. Wilma Mishoe, who hosted the signing event at the university, said the agreement "gives our students another opportunity ... to prepare and actually be ready when that times comes" for meaningful employment after graduation. Representing EPA, Cindy Caporale, deputy director of the Laboratory Sciences and Applied Science Division, said the agreement fits into the mission of the federal agency to protect the environment and public health.
The renewed agreement expands on one signed in 2012 by EPA and DSU as part of EPA's Minority Academic Institutions Program, which was created to increase opportunities for minority academic institutions to participate in federal programs.

My first visit to Auckland since 1988 and it rained the hole time!

Viaduct Basin (often Viaduct Harbour) is a former commercial harbour on the Auckland waterfront, now turned into a development of mostly upscale apartments,office space and restaurants. It is located on the site of a formerly run-down area of the Freemans Bay / Auckland CBD waterfront in Auckland City, New Zealand. As a centre of activity of the 2000 America's Cup hosted by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, the area enjoyed considerable popularity with locals and foreign visitors.
Viaduct Harbour hosts many fabulous events including the past America’s Cup defences, Louis Vuitton Regattas, the Volvo Round the World Race stopover March 2012.
The Auckland metropolitan area in the North Island of New Zealand, is the largest and most populous urban area in the country with 1,377,200 residents, 31 percent of the country's population.
Auckland has the largest Polynesian population of any city in the world. In Māori Auckland's names are Tāmaki Makaurau, and the transliterated version of Auckland, Ākarana.
