Can you believe this is made from a sweatshirt? Luanne found a color and texture of sweatshirt that made that jacket look like a million bucks. Of course, it was perfectly tailored to fit, which always makes clothes look top drawer!

I personally, cannot wear a plain jean jacket. It's like owning a blank canvas or an unwritten page. I got the jacket at Value Village for $6. Still adding pins as I find them.

A tutorial set demonstrating the reproduction of the jacket featured in _Costume Close-up_, from pattern to full-scale product. The jacket is constructed using the original as the guiding document; period stitches and construction techniques are used throughout.

Here are the two dolls in their sparrow jackets. They are incredibly difficult to photograph together now so I had to contain them in the wagon!

Thank you to everyone for all the kind comments about these jackets when I posted them a while ago. It is so encouraging, I haven't been sewing for long and it's such a boost to have such accomplished seamstresses say such kind things.

I have worked on this jacket in the spring of 2008, and it took me a little while to finish it. There's is also a cable that goes onto the color, but I think I like it also without it. As of the yarn, it was not the best choice, since the jacket is rather heavy now and it stretched more than I anticipated. Still need to add buttons.

My rhinestone jacket seems to go with everything, including my red leather-look dress.

12 skeins in color Tan

Needles: Size 10 Addi Turbo and Size G crochet hook

Started: June 2007

Finished: June 12, 2008

Mods: I left off the chain stitch embroidery because (1) I was lazy and (2) didn't think it really needed it. I knit the rest to the book. Overall, I like it, but alas, into storage it goes until the Fall b/c it is too dang hot for wool right now in Jersey. As I also said before, read the directions first, especially if you hate finishing. There is a lot of finishing work on this one, but I think it is elegant and well-worth the effort.

This Wild Onion Jacket has a base layer of woven fabric, collaged with images of oranges, sunflowers and butterflies.

I got this jacket at American Rag in San Francisco when we lived around the corner from it. I remember shopping there before they had their own brand of clothing. I remember when it was still strictly vintage.

I bought this jacket when they were in mid-life crisis. The buttons are brilliant.

My two all-time favorite periods for fashion are the 30's and the 40's.

Without question.

It's reflective of everything I admire in design and construction.

Plus the underwear were so much improved on the previous decades and centuries but foreign to foundation garments today which aren't actually a foundation to anything but a few skin cells, being much too flimsy to support anything more substantial.

Few people in my current life know that one of my passions is the history of undergarments.

I do love girdles.
