You know it, you (may) love it, but you've seen about 100 pictures of it before from me. But I hadn't taken any waterfall picture in 2 months and High Falls downtown is the ultimate in waterfall convenience. A different viewpoint here.

It was the time of pomegranates.

The carnage came later.

Too late for lamentations. [r. l. cardoso]

For 52 weeks the 2016 Edition - What is it?

The blue is just a reflection.

It was raining when this photo was taken but it did not stop people from enjoying the view.

.... it hardly seems to be there

I noticed this pair of older Volkswagen Beetles a few weeks ago and have been waiting for the right time, sun and no rain to photograph them. I loaded a piece of 8x10 Impossible in the film holder and with camera and tripod off I went. Note that the Polaroid 8x10 film holder is dedicated to the processor and you only load one side unlike standard sheet film holders which allow two frames per holder. So I have one frame of film, camera set up, meter reading taken and I pull the cover out of the holder and wait a second before uncovering the lens so the camera can settle. WHAT THE HEY the lens cover slid open in transit so my image was getting exposure all the time after pulling the cover slide, movement and overexposure were assured. The is no compensation for error in developing time so what you shoot is what you get. I was not happy about screwing up a $20.00 piece of film so I didn't process it until the next day yet after I did I liked it, errors and all.

La quatrième gare de Heerlen a été conçue par l'artiste Michel Huisman et fait partie du Maankwartier. Il a été mis en service le 5 août 2019, après que les voyageurs aient dû se contenter d'une station d'urgence pendant sept ans.

Heerlen's fourth station was designed by the artist Michel Huisman and is part of the Maankwartier. It was put into service on August 5, 2019, after travelers had to make do with an emergency station for seven years.

It was snowing pretty heavy on the way down to Nuns Cross Farm, pity it only laster 5-10 mins!

Grizzlies comparing their jaws is a sign of assertiveness. These cubs will start doing this, then one will swat the other with an oversize paw and then it blows up into a full blown wrestling match.

It seems that animals know just how far they can go before one or the other gets hurt. I've seen them take a scratch on the nose or lose a clump of hair but usually they roll around, try out a variety of wrestling holds and then fifteen minutes later they go back to eating or just sit down exhausted near their mother.

A long exposure in stormy weather at Elgol on the Isle Of Skye looking across Loch Scavaig to the Cuillins. As usual, I got very wet.

The second day we were on the island our friend Lisa invited us to her birthday party. It was great fun!!! All the 'transplants' got together in one place and what an opportunity to connect.

The cool thing is I was a bit sad that I wouldn't be able to have a party for my fiftieth (yes you read that right... it just seem younger!!!) and it turns out that Lisa and I had our birthday on the same day. (we celebrated early..both born on the first of Oct) So.. I got my party!! How cool is that? If you think that God doesn't care about the smallest details in your life.. think again!

This is a ceiling fan with some cool little scallop shells. (yes Wilson had to stay home!)

81017 is approaching Nuneaton with a London bound parcels train, on the right 85011 is keeping the track free of snow.

81017 was built by Birmingham Railway Wagon and Carriage Company at Smethwick, it entered service as E3020 27/04/1961. It was withdrawn 15/07/1991 and scrapped at Cooper's Metals (Attercliffe) 03/01/1992

85011 was built at Doncaster Works as E3066, it entered service 17/04/1963. Under TOPS it was to become 85011 and in 11/10/1990 as an 85/1 85114. That career did not last as it was withdrawn 01/07/1991 and cut by M.C. Metals (Springburn) 01/02/1993

It rarely snows in West Texas. But earlier this week, some parts received 24 inches of the white stuff - breaking previous records - so beautiful!

Though it feeds on nectar it is also a predator and catches other insects using its long pointed proboscis to pierce their bodies. Males of E. opaca and E. tessellata present a 'gift' to the female, in the form of a dead insect, before mating takes place. Females will not mate with males who do not present a gift Naturespot

"Waiting On The World"

I, like most of you, know this year has been different than the years we’re used to. It’s been a trying, troubling, challenging year filled with both good and bad. Pain and some needed change. I, like many of you, have experienced personal stuff during these past few months, and have seen people - good people - around me experience hardship, grief, turmoil, and uncertainty.

Last night, while I was photographing this - people I love were going through some unspeakable pain. And this one goes out to them.

Our world is beautiful. It’s full of so much good. And I am that “positive” person almost all the time. But, I don’t look at the world exclusively with a set of rose-coloured glasses. Sometimes it’s tough. And sometimes we just want the day, or the week, or a period to be over. Turn the page. And when that feeling hits, all I can hope for to the people that need that page turned…wherever and whoever you are….that the new chapter comes quickly. And is everything you hope it will be.

Self-portrait at about 1AM. Just waiting on the world.

Yes Flickr friends, tomorrow 12 July, Kim & I will have been married for 22 years. We have had such excellent fun and laughs together and I can't believe how the time has simply flown; it only seems like yesterday we were posing for this photo. Incidentally, this photo was taken at the Officers Mess Gardens RAAF Base Glenbrook. It's a scanned photo, hence the quality.

...somehow it looks like painted ... but is photographed! ... The camera on the floor, the rising heat, the movement of the water create an artistic effect. Who likes absolute sharpness, will not like this picture :)

It's a bit cooler today, a relief for the cats although it probably won't last long. Fynn relaxed in the garden under the eyes of the stone cat behind him. Stone kitty is guarding the place where we buried Ramses almost two years ago and I often find Fynn in this corner of the garden. Ramses and Fynn were good buddies and I sometimes wonder if he is feeling the presence of his old friend there.

This is one of the staircases in the new entrance/exit at Tottenham Court Rd tube station.

Pictured just a few minutes after sunrise, the low sun has bathed the Cobb End of Lyme Regis in golden light. The land in and around Lyme Regis is extremely unstable which means there are limited areas where it is safe to build. This has effectively cut the town in two, with the Church End to the east and the Cobb End to the west. The seaside promenade which dates back to the Georgian period connects them, with a park occupying the formerly unstable land above the promenade. This is out of shot to the right. In recent years there has been a huge investment to stabilise this land so that it does not slip down towards the sea.

I asked this young lady where her tricks are going to start and finish as a photographer it's important to know, she replied by saying she just "wings it!" So I took her lead and winged it too. It was a pleasure to watch her all day. Excellent horse woman....I'm told by her mother the talent was passed down by her dad. Good job dad!

*As a side note... that was some storm last night....don't think the heavens were ever so angry; felt truly alive :)

Bathing fun for the sparrow society without having to pay admission.

Sparrow Bath

A little sparrow sits by the water

and dips its beak in it.

'Oh, how wonderful', it thinks,

and then hops in a bit.

It calls its brothers and sisters,

the whole sparrow army.

They come out of their nests

and everyone chirps loudly.

With true sparrow courage,

without any fear,

they plunge into the water

and were so happy there.

Spatzenbad

Ein Spätzlein sitzt am Wasserbad

und taucht den Schnabel ein.

'Oh herrlich', denkt es dabei grad'

und hüpft dann ganz hinein.

Es ruft die Brüder und Schwestern,

das ganze Spatzenheer.

Sie kommen aus ihren Nestern

Und zwitschern gar so sehr.

Mit echtem Spatzenmut,

ganz ohne sich zu scheuen,

stürzen sie sich in die Flut

und taten sich soo freuen.
