THE UNION
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gone To Shiloh
Music & lyrics Leon Russell, Neil Young, Elton John & Bernie Taupin 2010
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Luther left us first light Friday morning
Little Dan and Becky waved goodbye
They're gonna have to share the weight together
Idle hands will see a good farm slowly die
Gone to Shiloh for the Union
Shoulder to shoulder, side by side
Gone to Shiloh, hope springs eternal
When flags and bullets start to fly
April's come and the air smells fresh with rain
They watched his shadow fade around the bend
He's headed for a different kind of thunder
And the stunned surprise in the eyes of dying men
Gone to Shiloh for the Union
Shoulder to shoulder, side by side
Gone to Shiloh, time passes slowly
When flags and bullets start to fly
The old black rooster sang him down that dirt road
His step seemed bold, his manner fancy-free
I pray we see him alive and well in the fall here
Than that God-forsaken place in Tennessee
After all of this
If we should prevail
Heaven help the South
When Sherman comes their way

Calling Elvis
Music & lyrics by Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler 1991
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Calling Elvis
Is anybody home
Calling Elvis
I'm here all alone
Did he leave the building
Or can he come to the phone
Calling Elvis
I'm here all alone
Well tell him I was calling just to wish him well
Let me leave my number
Heartbreak hotel
Oh love me tender
Baby don't be cruel
Return to sender
Treat me like a fool
Calling Elvis
Is anybody home
Calling Elvis
I'm here all alone
Did he leave the building
Can he come to the phone
Calling Elvis
I'm here all alone
Why don't you go get him
I'm his biggest fan
You gotta tell him
He's still the man
Long distance baby
So far from home
Don't you think maybe you could put him on
Well tell him I was calling just to wish him well
Let me leave my number
Heartbreak hotel
Oh love me tender
Baby don't be cruel
Return to sender
Treat me like a fool
Calling Elvis
Is anybody home
Calling Elvis
I'm here all alone
Did he leave the building
Or can he come to the phone
Calling Elvis
I'm here all alone

I love this ink. I usually have this in one of my fountain pens ready to write. :)
*please note the difference in the ink is due to the use in the flash in the previous photographs. This image is scanned.*

Don't Trust That Woman
Music & lyrics by Elton John & Cher 1986
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She's a real ball-buster, don't trust her
She's in a most peculiar phase
You can rear end her oh it'll send her
She wants you, she'll have you her own way
Don't untie her, don't defy her
'Cause she'll bring you down to your knees
You can beat her but don't mistreat her
Oh don't believe that woman please
Don't trust that woman
Don't trust that woman boys
'Cause she'll burn you
Turn you into little toys
Don't trust that woman
Don't trust that woman boys
'Cause she'll hurt you
And turn you into little toys
Don't trust that woman boys
She's a man-eater, oh don't you cheat her
She'll cut you just to watch you bleed
A woman half crazy, oh then again lazy
With an appetite to feed
She's a liar oh you can't buy her
'Cause she'll bring you down to your knees
Don't untie her, don't defy her
Oh don't believe that woman please
Mean sister, tongue-twister
She takes it easy but she makes it hard
Soul sister, two-fister
Today's feline is Taypurr Swift with a nod to the singer Taylor Swift and her song '22' (and I'm a bit tickled that she wore neko ears in the video for the song so it was a natural choice) =^..^=

Note: This blue is very difficult to scan or photograph correctly. One just can't do the blue tones justice once you start mucking about with a brush. The blue literally glows with vibrant hues. :)

Music & lyrics by Paul McCartney/Wings

You Gave Me The Answer
To Love Eternally.
I Love You And - You,
You Seem To Like Me.
Wherever We Wander
The Local Folk Agree,
I Love You And - You,
You Seem To Like Me.
Heading Back To Old Familiar Places,
Places Where The Cobwebs Blow Away
I Can Forget The Airs And Graces
Terpsichory . . . . . . .
You'll Never Be Crowned By
The Aristocracy,
To Their Delight, You'd Merely Invite
Them In For A Cup Of Tea . . . . And
I Love You And - You
You Seem To Like
You Seem To Like
You Seem To Like me

Inspiration: Season premier of Lost Girl last night
Result: Really fast fanart of Kenzi
Materials: Pentel 0.3 HB, Sakura Micron 02, OHTO graphic liner 10, Faber Catstell PITT artist Brush 199** in a *Moleskine Folio journal ( 21 cm 30 cm / 8 1/4" x 11 1/4")
Location: Home
Note: Trying out a selection of pens on new paper as I try to nip habits in the bud before they get entrenched.
~ I automatically run all these images through a photo filter after I've scanned them, as the project is meant to be just B/W images and not all my paper is consistent.
*Moleskine folio ~ this is a hardbound, heavy (160g) cream coloured paper. All Moleskine journals are now Made in China and I have to say that my experience today was A FIRST. I started drawing in pencil and then erased some lines to start again. I ERASED THE CREAM COLOUR off the page to reveal white underneath. WHAT THE F**K is THAT!?!
I can not in all honesty recommend this product to ANYone who actually cares about the paper quality they are drawing/writing on. To me this is just a sketchbook to play in, but I am seriously concerned about that this means for anyone who uses these books for serious work of any kind. Just ew! I will not repeat the mistake of purchasing this product again. The lesson here children is look to Europe or Japan for paper.
As for Lost Girl....OMG I am so happy the new season has been launched and I get to curl up on Sunday nights with my favourite, ass-kicking Fae and her human. I can't decide what I like the most about Kensi...her goth punk street fashion or the attitude with which she wears it. :D

THE KICK INSIDE

The Saxophone Song
Music & lyrics by Kate Bush
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You'll find me in a Berlin bar
In a corner brooding
You know that I go very quiet
When I'm listening to you.
There's something special indeed
There's something special indeed
In all the places where I've seen you shine, boy
There's something very real in how I feel, honey
It's in me
It's in me
And you know it's for real
Tuning in on your saxophone
Dah-bah-dah-bah-doo
The candle burning over your shoulder is throwing
Shadows on your saxophone, a surly lady in tremor
The stars that climb from her bowels
Those stars make towers on vowels
You'll never see that you had all of me
You'll never see the poetry you've stirred in me
Of all the stars I've seen that shine so brightly
I've never known or felt in myself so rightly
It's in me
It's in me
And you know it's for real
Tuning in on your saxophone
Dah-bah-dah-bah-doo
Another visitor to this church asked if I wanted to join him singing. I declined and he sang on his own. Superb echo in here.

When A Woman Doesn't Want You
Music & lyrics by Elton John & Bernie Taupin 1992
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She may be lost
She may be out of bounds
All her tenderness and charms could be something
A man like me has never found
But in her woman's way
She's still a little girl
The things that she wants, the things that she needs
Oh well the choice is hers
`Cause you can't take a woman
When she doesn't want you
And you can't be a man
If you're blind to reason
Man might be strong
But true love is stronger
You gotta play it straight
When a woman doesn't want you
Her voice invites
Her eyes say more than words
But her needs and complications
Can tear away the memory of last night's girl
And if you're weak
Yeah we're all weak sometime
The best things can wait
The best times they come
Oh when strength is kind
And if you can't read her
Leave her alone
And if you don't know by now
She's not someone's prize
And you can't take her home

Note: So...a few years ago the latest in a long line of propane BBQ's died and I refused to invest in a new one....as I just don't like them. What I wanted (but could never justify the expense of) was a ceramic, kamodo-style grill, which also has the ability beyond grilling to bake (pizzas like a wood burning oven) and smoke foods.
It's been a 5 year stand-off between the hubby and myself. He has been bemoaning all summer that we are probably the the only household in the country without a BBQ as I dug my heels in deeper and held out for my dream grill.
He arrived home on Thursday from a Golf tournament with an enormous grill in the car. He'd won it in a raffle and I just stood there in shock. It wasn't just a ceramic grill...it was the grandaddy of them all. *0.0!!!

"Before all of this ever went down
In another place, another town,
You were just a face in the crowd
Out in the street, walking around
A face in the crowd
Out of a dream, out of the sky
Into my heart, into my life
And you were just a face in the crowd
Out in the street, thinking out loud
A face in the crowd..."
