FIELD TEST / Radical Adventures in Future Farming

Really felt that I was intruding on this pair of very senior looking Pale Headed Rosellas as they engaged in what may have been pair feeding. It was certainly a gesture of affection.Turns out that these are actually juveniles and quite possibly from the same clutch of eggs. That will teach me not to jump to conclusions in future.

In partnership with Caritas Nepal, CRS provided 50-day trainings to masons with a focus on earthquake-resilient construction techniques. These masons then led teams of unskilled laborers or people who participated in a shorter training. Trained masons help ensure that houses will be more resilient in future earthquakes and that families will be eligible to receive all three tranches (installments) of reconstruction money from the government. The project put a special focus on training female masons and people from vulnerable groups.

Sanju Bishwakarma, 28, (purple sweater and teal trousers) is a lead mason in ongoing reconstruction projects. Her crew trusts her and she is known for her skill in binding rebar supports. Although some female masons reported that some families hesitated to hire them based on biases against women working construction, clients seek out Sanju based on her reputation for high-end work. She is simultaneously building her own home, although her government grants have been delayed based on a mistake in registration (she will be eligible when that mistake is rectified).

Here, Sanju is pictured walking to work and then on the job at a construction site.

In April and May 2015, two massive earthquakes struck Nepal. Over eight million of Nepal’s 28 million people were affected with nearly 2.6 million in urgent need of emergency shelter, water, food, medicines and reconstruction support. The Government of Nepal (GoN) declared a state of emergency and reported 8,891 deaths, 605,254 houses destroyed and 288,244 homes damaged. CRS is supporting the Nepal government’s recovery and rehabilitation efforts.

A 3-year multi-donor $11 M Gorkha Recovery and Resilience Project (GRRP) provides technical support for more than 20,000 households in reconstruction of earthquake resilient houses, livelihoods recovery and WASH. The majority of funding comes from CRS private funds, with additional support from LDSC and Caritas Canada (Development and Peace), Caritas Spain and Caritas Austria.

The 5 X 5 Exhibition is a temporary installation comprised of various design concepts expressing contemporary issues in landscape architecture and environmental design. The goal of the exhibit is to help improve outdoor environments at The University of Texas at Austin campus by exploring and experimenting with alternative solutions to the university's vernacular landscape. The exhibition will take place in twenty-five 5'x5' raised concrete planters at the northwestern corner of the Harry Ransom Center (HRC).

Currently, these planters are neglected as a result of the challenging site conditions including: inadequate sunlight, lack of permanent irrigation, poor soil conditions, and shelter any natural precipitation. In response, the ASLA Student Chapter hosted a design competition housed within the School of Architecture encouraging students to propose expressive alternatives and sustainable solutions to this challenging site. Thirty-nine submissions were narrowed down through a jury of faculty members to twenty-five proposals that each received fifty dollars to install each design concept.

Ultimately, the UT Austin ASLA student chapter hopes to work towards a long-term solution for this challenging site. In the meanwhile, the temporary exhibition will bring attention to this neglected place on campus and help improve the university's awareness of how landscape architecture students in the School of Architecture could become helpful resources in future campus improvement projects.

The exhibition is on display through May 8.

This is a pretty terrible photo, but I only managed a couple before this cuckoo wasp flew off. I've never seen one before, and will be on the lookout for it in future. It was the most incredible brilliant green in the sun.

It was quite wonderful experience to have the new year dinner(年夜饭) in Italy. Considering both China and Italy has great culture of gastronomy and wine, we bonded them together: Chinese dishes with Italian wine, hoping two countries would get closer friendship in future.

Better World Books: Bristol Author Joy Hill on Fri. June 6, 2015. Joy Hill of Bristol Indiana appeared at her book signing at Better World Books in Goshen, Indiana during the First Friday Summer Kickoff on Friday, June 6, 2015.

Previously, Joy held a signing at the Bristol Library Authors’ Fair.

Her first book, published by Tate Publishing is called “Berry the Bird Learns to Fly.” She was inspired to write the book when she saw how much her young 2-1/2 year son Jackson enjoyed having story books read to him. She has also has a 7 month old daughter, Janie. She has also submitted two additional books for publication by Tate at their request, and is very excited to see her books in print. The illustrations were supplied by Tate and fit her story and character perfectly. The book is also available on line as an eBook at Tate Publishing.com. She hopes to publish more books in future.

Her day job is as a part time veterinary Technician, and her husband Jamie works in construction. She and her husband and children live in Bristol, Indiana. Just the Facts: First Friday in Goshen, Indiana has become a very popular event for visitors from various Michiana communities. To celebrate First Fridays’ 8th Anniversary, they held the Sweet Summer Kickoff on Friday, June 6 with free concerts on the Courthouse lawn and Chalk the Walk. They also had bubbles, lawn games, popcorn bar, special promotions at local businesses and the Author Signing at the Better World Books Store.

I’m not happy with the result of this cake. Its components tasted fine separately. However, as a whole, the end taste was forgettable and the texture was wrong. The cake dried out from its four hours of being naked and its overnight stay in the refrigerator. I also had taken the cake’s moistness for granted. I didn’t brush it with any coffee syrup for that added moisture and flavour. Lastly, the chocolate custard filling was overwhelming with its nuts and coconut flakes.

Anyway, I’ll make use of the components in future products.

A digital twin is the representation of a product or process created through the use of a computer program that uses real-world data to forecast efficiency.

One way manufacturers can enhance their output is by adopting the internet of things, artificial intelligence, and software analytics.

Digital twin technology is widely used in industries like healthcare, manufacturing, science, and technology.

This probably one of the most expensive mask in venice IF its really made by gold. I dont really know. However, if in future i am a rich guy, i would never buy 1. Sorry venetian, im not interested with your product.

I really hate to be critical of my favourite Welsh Narrow Gauge railway but.... This looks very shiny, new and attractive. Yes, indeed and I imagine a great many man....sorry, 'person' hours were spent constructing this carriage over several years. I remember seeing this in skeletal form some years ago. In fact, I was moved to research how long ago I first saw it under construction. So imagine my shock at the realization that my previous visit to the lovely little railway was 6 years ago. The interim period has seen much disturbance in my personal health situation making such days out near enough impossible. So, I was thus very keen to try out this bright and airy newish coach. Now, I hate to be critical but this was quite a disappointment. I know a lot of people will have put in great effort with it but sadly the result leaves quite a lot to be desired. The seats are right angles, hard, unforgiving about as ergonomic as using a breeze block as a pillow. There were also an unacceptable number of semi-sharpe edges on it's internal framework and numerous nuts and bolts protruding through the sides making resting your arms difficult at best and painful at worst. I am no fan of the Ffestiniog Railway but I can't help thinking they'd have put a great deal more thought into such a project and paid more attention to detail. However, this was nothing compared to the ride quality and sheer hell of the journey next to Alice. The constant bashing, clattering and heavy percussions transmitted through the coupling were harsh and by the end of the outward trip almost unbearable. I stayed put for the return journey hoping that without Alice's boxercise session the journey would be more peaceful, Indeed it was, but not by much. I well remember the old coaches buffered up to the loco and not being anywhere near as uncomfortable as this one. Indeed most of the train was made up of those older coaches which In future I will happily return to. In this day and age it's not really acceptable for even a small tourist railway to provide such rough passenger accommodation even when it is aged but masquerading as new(ish). Modern tourists however forgiving deserve better than this. My advice is to head for the oldest looking carriage you can spot. It'll be quieter and more comfortable than this thing

Three Mallard hens (Anas platyrhynchos) that drew my attention, but only one will be easy to find in future surveys....

Size 12 - 18 months from old whistles t-shirt that was too short in the body. No attempt made to match stripes where sleeves join body as the pieces were cut so as to use the hems from the original t-shirt.

No adjustments made to pattern. In future probably worth using new ribbing for collar as this feels as though it will stretch easily.

A new tradition maybe, although the large crowds could be a deterrent in future years... the night Colette, Eric, and I went though, it wasn't too bad. I had been the weekend prior with my mom and my sister, but Colette had not gotten the opportunity to really run and around and play. So, Eric and I took her back, this time giving her a bit more freedom to run about and enjoy herself. It was an awesome night. This was when the temperatures were still just right and before we had started to busy ourselves with housework. Now that we've moved into our house, we've hardly had time to edit pictures, let alone snap 'em. Hopefully, that will start to change in the upcoming weeks. Happy belated Halloween, everyone!
