Wood Sandpiper - Tringa Glareola
The wood sandpiper is a medium-sized wading bird, with a fine straight bill, yellowish legs and a conspicuous long white stripe from the bill over the eye to the back of the neck. In flight, it shows no wing-stripes and a square white rump.
Is is a passage migrant in spring and autumn, breeding in Northern Europe and wintering in Africa. A few pairs breed in the Scottish Highlands. The flooding of some previously drained traditional marshes in Scotland may help this species in future. Wood sandpipers are listed as a Schedule 1 species.
The wood sandpiper breeds in subarctic wetlands from the Scottish Highlands across Europe and Asia. They migrate to Africa, Southern Asia, particularly India, and Australia. Vagrant birds have been seen as far into the Pacific as the Hawaiian Islands. In Micronesia it is a regular visitor to the Mariana Islands (where flocks of up to 32 birds are reported) and Palau; it is recorded on Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands about once per decade. This species is encountered in the western Pacific region between mid-October and mid-May. A slight westward expansion saw the establishment of a small but permanent breeding population in Scotland since the 1950s.
This bird is usually found on freshwater during migration and wintering. They forage by probing in shallow water or on wet mud, and mainly eat insects and similar small prey. T. glareola nests on the ground or uses an abandoned old tree nest of another bird, such as the fieldfare (Turdus pilaris). Four pale green eggs are laid between March and May.
Adult wood sandpipers moult all their primary feathers between August and December, whilst immature birds moult varying number of outer primaries between December and April, much closer to their departure from Africa. Immatures are also much more flexible than adults in the timing and rate of their moult and refueling. Adults and immatures which accumulate fuel loads of c.50% of their lean body mass can potentially cross distances of 2397–4490 km in one non-stop flight.
I end my safari experience in Madikwe, South Africa with this unusual tree captured at sunset. Marie, my guide, just knew I would be thrilled when i saw this unusual wild creation of nature. i am sorry to say that she didn't tell me the story behind how it was created. Maybe having it be a mystery is more appropriate for such a wild thing.
in future days, I'll start adding pictures of Mozambique and when they are completed we will return to South Africa with more safari scenes.
this pic wz taken by me last summer in shlirzie-Germany .
such a nice nature and fabolus weather =)
its also a good place for honeymoon=P

P.S : Hope 2 hear some advices 4 better photographing in future .
Baby Synti
Since our last fosters left about a month ago, we have rested and suffered from bad case of kitten fewer. Well, today we got new foster mom that is still pregnant. So baby news in future ^^
I have finally had some time to process some more of the photos from my 8 day trip with Wayne Pinkston. Here's a shot taken of the tufas at Mono Lake. Mono Lake is located north of the Long Valley Caldera, a 20-mile long depression that is the aftermath of a volcano that erupted 760,000 years ago. In a massive explosion the volcano sent huge volumes of earth and ash into the sky and buried the surrounding area in hundreds of feet of volcanic debris. As a result of the eruption, the land collapsed, creating a 200 square mile depression known today as the Long Valley Caldera. Mono Lake formed soon afterward.
The secret of the fanciful towers is more than banal. In the middle of 19 century, to satisfy the needs in water of Los Angeles they had to take water from the local rivers. As a result, the lake's level dramatically fell by 15 meters uncovered the calciferous-tuff figures from water. The program devoted to the safety of the unique lake the Mono Lake Committee was created in 1978. In 1994, the California State Water Resources Control Board reached a decision which mandated that the lake had to rise to a level of 6,392 feet above sea level. After this the lake's level began to rise and, probably, in future these idols will hide their secrets under the water column again.
Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great week my friends!! :)

My White-tailed Jackrabbit project of the last month or so finally has started to produce some results. If you hang out near wildlife long enough, sometimes good opportunities happen by chance!
Their unusual style of locomotion and their white winter coats are what I love most about them. Starting here, we will examine their locomotion in a series. Frequently, all feet are in air during a running cycle, as in this case. Interestingly the tail position changes with the strides as will be shown later in future posts. Here the tail is held low.
These hares are very elusive, so all shots in the series and almost all of the shots posted this winter were taken with super telephoto lenses plus 2x extenders.

Possibly zero access to Flickr (hopefully not!) I will be away soon, off to Snowdonia with my lovely sister Margaret. I won't be on much at all from Sunday 14th July for a few days. I hope to have time to show you a few photos from there in future, if I manage any good ones !
This was taken in Plantsbrook Nature Reserve - not Wales - at the very end of May. Amazing to think how lovely the weather was then, how much rain we've had since - and now it's 'changeable'. That's the UK for you - 'changeable' in most ways !
Take care of yourselves and have a lovely time everyone !
~ Done in Topaz Studio and PicMonkey for the final details ~
And for no reason at all, apart from the fact I love Joan Armatrading and this song, here is some music for you.

As the beautiful Autumn colours start to appear I decided to have another look at some of my older images. I’ve decided to put more effort into post-processing in future and this is one that I’ve been able to improve. It was taken on a trip to Kamikochi in Japan in 2014 and although I wasn’t really into photography at the time it’s an area I’d love to revisit one day.
I just went through my shots of a beautiful sunset at Capanna Margherita in summer 2015 and tried to optimize them with actual technology. Most interesting, after editing 4 single shots with an adjusted mask for the sky, after merging them the mask was gone at the panorama. Nothing to worry about, it is quite easy to add the mask again via copy and paste. It would have been even easier merging first and optimizing simply the panorama which is still a DNG file if it is merged in Lightroom.
The sun is setting above Matterhorn in the center of the picture. At the left side we can see Liskamm with its two summits and the long crest of the traverse where we came from at that day. Behind Liskamm the mighty massiv of Montblanc can well be recognized far away. Relatively near at the right side is Dufourspitze. Between that summit and Matterhorn we can see Dent Blanche, Obergabelhorn with Wellenkuppe and Zinalrothorn.
I really love that place and hope I can get back there in future.
This is a technique I've never tried before but would love to do more of it in future photos.
Have a great weekend!

Hi folks, sorry I had to remove my last photo with all your generous comments, but there was some form of photo compression going on when I uploaded it.
It caused my picture to look not the way I wanted it to and constant re-edits would not fix the horrible "banding" of the sky.
Have since discovered that converting the file's colour format to "16-bit greyscale" for black and white is a fix so should be ok in future.
The season opened for me this last weekend with the Goodwood 74th Members Meeting. Its perhaps underselling it to say that this opener to the season once again proved to be a knockout event, with 8 Porsche 917's and 6 Ferrari 512's being on show alongside some regular attendees.
Although the Sunday was dampened by a number of serious accidents that re-enforced the message that motorsport can and will be dangerous, the Members Meeting managed to provide a number of opportunities to get up close and personal with some real racing legends that I hope will continue in the future.
My opening shot from the event is of the magnificent 1970 Ferrari 512M owned by Paul Knapfield. It was difficult with so many great cars in attendance to know where to begin, so I thought I'd start with a type of shot that proved popular last year.
I'll try and post some details regarding this particular car in future uploads.

After taking this photograph a representative of this company who had seen me on their surveillance camera, rushed out to tell me I could not take photographs of their property without seeking written permission from their national headquarters.
This light was too good to pass up and I insisted that I had done nothing wrong as I was standing in a public place (the footpath) and not on their property. And if they chose to continue with their absurd request that I desist from photographing them: (1) They must have something to hide, and (2) I would not use their services in future. I got the photo.
We must not allow our freedoms to be eroded by giving in to these corporate demands! Right now, all over the world, we are in a war for personal liberty. We did not ask for the totalitarian dystopic surveillance society we are getting.
A fine upstanding specimen of a bird. This is not a weather vane, it's my attempt to rescue a backlit shot that failed spectacularly. All it took was a little effort, imagination and a generous serve of Photoshop magic, and see what I got!! I'll try harder with taking my shots in future.
EORA-Bennelong is an artistic projection on a southern pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge for the Vivid Festival. It is a sequence of movements by dancers choreographed by Stephen Page and Jacob Nash of the Bangarra Dance Theatre. EORA – Bennelong honours one of Australia’s most celebrated Aboriginals from the days of first contact with European settlers, Woollarawarre Bennelong.
The arch of the Sydney Harbour Bridge is also illuminated during Vivid Festival.
2017 marks two important anniversaries for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia. It is the 50th anniversary of the referendum which gave them the vote and recognition in future censuses. It is also the 25th Anniversary of the High Court case brought by Eddie Mabo that overturned the law that held that Australia had effectively been unoccupied before European settlement. The High Court decision gave Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people the right to seek native title over their traditional lands.
In psychology, memory is an organism's mental ability to store, retain and recall information. Traditional studies of memory began in the fields of philosophy, including techniques of artificially enhancing the memory. The late nineteenth and early twentieth century put memory within the paradigms of cognitive psychology. In recent decades, it has become one of the principal pillars of a branch of science called cognitive neuroscience, an interdisciplinary link between cognitive psychology and neuroscience.

This is a month old creation. Before my art exhibition which was held in the month of July/2019.
Now I have completely stopped doing any painting using oil paper. I have been advised to create a lot of abstract art or keep Indian tradition in mind to do few contemporary arts.
Feels good that an architect has selected nearly 40 of my painting collections and he will give a call back to fix the price. Since he picking it up in bulk, the price will go down. But I’m so excited and happy.
As I know his taste for the type of art he likes, I would love to do few more collections for him. He can pick more than 100 paintings. Hoping for the best. And I have to meet few other art dealers and art gallery people. As it is raining most of the times, I’m making myself busy in splashing colors on big canvas. Planning to use huge canvas in future. Almost 6 x 6 feet.
Though I faced difficulties and hurdles after leaving my job to follow my passion, I am happy that slowly I’m able to make people notice my work. Sometimes I have to spend a lot for colors and canvas. It’s a tricky situation. But I’m happy. Hope I get more experience and start creating vibrant paintings in future.

My feet have touched this ground for the first time in my life during my last stay in the Swiss Alps. I had no idea that this valley would be so beautiful and my heart began to beat faster when the first light of the morning began to reach this area here. I was standing in the middle of a river bed and it was so cold that even the sandy ground was hard like a rock. And when finally the light came I could see the beautiful autumn colours of the trees while my soul was smiling. I will certainly return to this paradise in future, because this valley still offers so many more spots.
Thank you for your time and interest in my photos, your visit is most appreciated.

My photographic endeavours this gloomy holiday weekend have been limited to this panoramic image taken on a phone in the Peace Gardens on the way to the cinema yesterday evening. In future I need to pay more attention to standing in the centre of the composition! Still, it looks OK despite all that.
Second visit to Steetley Pier this year. Much more dramatic sunrise this time, and much warmer than it was in January too! Had bit of a scare at one stage when the tripod toppled over landing the camera face down in the surf . Recovered quickly with no lasting damage but I spent 10 minutes drying the camera and lens off rather than watching the sunrise. Have to be more careful in future...

Later, trying to bring the crown into her midday rest for photos... not so great. After a few tries she resignedly did not throw off the crown immediately, but I'm not sure we can call this 'posing' as much as 'making me promise there would be treats for this in future.' Having had the treats earlier might have helped with this edge of resentful cooperation. Photo Shoot for Happy Caturday theme 2 July 2022 "Kings and Queens"
A long time ago...... i was born in the former GDR.
There we paid with "GDR Mark" (and "Pfennig"). Later, after the fall of the wall and the reunification of Germany we paid with "Deutsche Mark". From 2002 till now we pay with "Euro".
Will there be another currency in future?
Who knows...

These two juvenile Australian Magpies were born in our street last spring and have at last moderated their calls for Mum and Dad to feed them. We love to see and hear them wandering around and the other day both came calling together and sat on our patio rail. They are really quite happy to get close and while we don't feed them, we engage with them. Best way to ensure they always remain calm and used to us and we don't become dive bombing victims as they raise their own families in future years. We want to help them resist becoming territorial and just enjoy their urban environment.

Thank you again to all those who are supporting me through my Easter Series of works. I feel…humbled by your response, I don’t think I will ever get used to it, as I worked for so long on my own, a typical reclusive artist!
For this Easter Monday 2023 I am adding another in my series of Haiku Poems, and as a special bonus, a Grail image and poem to complete this series. It did not seem right to have an Easter Series without one of my Grail works to me!
This image for my Haiku poem also comes from Ocklynge Cemetery in Eastbourne, Sussex UK, like the other works in this Easter Series.
Ocklynge Cemetery has quite a few war graves, and although this is now a ‘closed cemetery’ in the sense that it is now full to any new burials [unless you have a family plot] there remain many who still visit their relatives in this predominantly Gothic Victorian cemetery, when those who lived and worked in Eastbourne founded it as a flourishing seaside resort. The graves and memorials celebrate lives right through and past the World Wars, and from what I could see up to the 1970’s and 1980’s. I may amend that information, as I find out more in future visits I hope to make.
Until then….I thought this young man from the Royal Sussex Regiment in the first World War deserved to be remembered.
This is paired with ‘Carry You Home’ by James Blunt.
And if you would like to see more of my work have a look at my website at:

Another sunflower almost out, I wasn't very hopeful as we planted them late but I think this one will make it. The other one in comments is the same flower that I photographed a couple of weeks ago. I hope that will bloom fully this weekend. Must remember to plant things at the right time in future!
I didn't think I would get this one posted today. Once again I will be without internet this weekend so will catch up as soon as I can. Have a great weekend everyone.

After applying noise reduction and sharpening in Clear mode with Topaz Denoise, I saved this image directly as a DNG file and then did post work directly in Adobe Camera Raw, PS and Lr. The image to the right was first adjusted in NX-D, saved as a 16-bit TIFF, then adjusted in LR then in PS. Either way, the end results were quite similar.
Having used Topaz Denoise for a while now, I have found that the sharpening effect can add unwanted artefacts even in default mode. Default noise reduction seems okay, although sometimes adding in some 'recover original detail' is a good option. Default sharpening levels appear to work better for images that have fairly good exposure levels and less noise when processing in Denoise.
I will likely turn down the sharpening filter in Denoise in future, especially with higher ISO images, then apply most of the sharpening in Lr and/or PS, which can also work very well in combination with some initial noise reduction in Denoise. LR and PS allow for more precise and subtle detail enhancement with fewer unwanted side effects.
This flower is called as "Ume" in japan. In japanese梅.
It's first bloom at my house this year:)) I bought little trees. It will be bigger in future. I love this smell,so lovely.
I had night shift, so I was tired....BUT! When I found these flowers, I felt so happy:D

Long weekend, the usual mad Monday at work. Played football 9-10.30pm but extremely ineffectually. Very flat today, unlike this bridge at Carlisle railway station.
I took a shot at the station last year and never went back and revisited. There's plenty of opportunity there for the dark nights so there may be more in future.

On a sunny spring day, I had some experimentation with extension tubes and focus stacking. I made a few attempts, each of them turning out decently. It's certainly better than some of my previous attempts, however there are clearly artifacts in here for me to improve on in future attempts.

Bodnant Garden (Welsh: Gardd Bodnant) is a National Trust property near Tal-y-Cafn, in the county borough of Conwy, Wales, situated overlooking the Conwy Valley towards the Carneddau range of mountains. Founded in 1874 and developed by five generations of one family, it was gifted to the care of the National Trust in 1949. The garden spans 80 acres of hillside and includes formal Italianate Terraces, informal Shrub Borders stocked with plants from around the world, and The Dell, a gorge garden with UK Champion Trees and a waterfall. Since 2012 new areas to open have included the Winter Garden, Old Park Meadow, Yew Dell and The Far End, a riverside garden. There are plans to open more new areas in future. Bodnant Garden is visited by around 190,000 people every year and is famous for its Laburnum Arch, the longest in the UK, which flowers in May and June. The garden is also celebrated for its link to the plant hunters of the early 1900s whose expeditions formed the base of the garden's four National Collections of plants – Magnolia, Embothrium, Eucryphia and Rhododendron forrestii.

I've found this both signs in Hambourg/ Germany.
But what does it means? Is a return path a 'Return' path or a 'One-way-Road'?
Are we all coming back to the point we were starting? Or we will see us after holidays back on this side?
However, I must enjoy sun, water, wind and time. Reading on peaceful places many, many books, meeting people on crazy and sometimes boring places to make the best of it. If you are one of them, I will be happy to see you my friend, and for the others: Hope I will see you in future, too. Nothing can't be better than a crazy group of photographers : )
Enjoy your time!
