La iniciativa, que implementa la Secretaría de Cultura de la Presidencia de la Nación hace una década, es un aporte al desarrollo cultural del continente.
El programa Identidades Productivas, que lleva adelante la Secretaría de Cultura de la Presidencia de la Nación, fue designada por la Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA) como una experiencia ejemplar en el campo de la cultura para el desarrollo del continente. Así, el programa representa al país en la publicación “Cultura, común denominador para el desarrollo: 18 prácticas exitosas”, que edita el organismo internacional.
Como parte del proyecto “La cultura en el desarrollo: una red interamericana de información”, la OEA convocó a sus estados miembros a que postularan experiencias públicas exitosas para concientizar a los distintos sectores sociales e instituciones gubernamentales acerca del rol fundamental de la cultura en el crecimiento económico, la inclusión social y el desarrollo sostenible. En este sentido, Identidades Productivas fue seleccionado, entre decenas de emprendimientos, por su aporte al trabajo artesanal en el país.
Según informes de OEA, la producción artesanal argentina estaba estancada y no tenía ningún impacto en los mercados; al tiempo que las grandes distancias y los elevados costos de transportes de personas y materiales impedían el intercambio de saberes y producciones artesanales. Además, consideraron que las comunidades originarias y rurales se encontraban aisladas por las distancias geográficas, debido a la falta de diálogo y de iniciativas de integración.
En opinión de la OEA, Identidades Productivas, que se lleva a cabo desde hace diez años y ya capacitó en Diseño a 750 artesanos de todo el país, generó grandes cambios en este campo, ya que “favorece el desarrollo de la cultura local indagando en la identidad, promoviendo una nueva configuración del tejido socio-productivo, impulsando las economías regionales, fomentando la inclusión social y laboral, y resignificando la importancia de la diversidad cultural”, según se destaca en la publicación del organismo.

Sobre Identidades Productivas
Identidades Productivas es una iniciativa de la Secretaría de Cultura de la Presidencia de la Nación asociada al Plan de Capacitación en Diseño, de la Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata. Su objetivo es promover el desarrollo de grupos dedicados al diseño y la producción colectiva de sistemas de objetos portadores de identidades culturales, con rango de colección provincial o nacional.
Desde 2002, con el apoyo de los gobiernos provinciales, se formaron colectivos de aprendizaje del diseño, integrados por artesanos, pequeños productores, maestros de artes y oficios, y diseñadores locales. Desde 2009, lo grupos establecidos interactúan en un espacio común, interprovincial, virtual y físico. Una vez al año, en el plenario anual mancomunado que se celebra en Mar del Plata, planifican las estrategias de este proceso organizacional.
El programa se organiza en tres etapas. La primera es la Generación de la Colección Provincial (diez seminarios de capacitación teórico-práctica del diseño adaptado a la producción local).
La segunda etapa, “Intrared”, es la Generación de Colecciones Interprovinciales, a partir de la interacción de los creadores colectivos de cada provincia en encuentros mancomunados anuales periódicos. La tercera etapa, “Extrared”, es la Red en acción. Trabaja para el autofinanciamiento de la Red, la generación de proyectos colectivos con otras redes, la comercialización y la multiplicación de los procesos de capacitación hacia distintos alcances (capacitación pedagógica, de técnicas e intercambio de experiencias).

Al dar arranque al Programa “Día Libre, ¡Nos Vemos en la Calle!”, el
Presidente Municipal de Querétaro, Roberto Loyola Vera, destacó la
importancia de que los habitantes de este Municipio “tengan los domingos un
verdadero día libre, que sea la calle un punto de encuentro, donde tejamos
comunidad, lo cual sin duda garantiza el grandioso futuro que merece
Querétaro”.
Explicó que con este programa, que inicia desde Luis Pasteur hasta Ejército
Republicano y que alcanza los 3.2 kilómetros de longitud, se busca tener
un ejercicio gubernamental complementario, transversal, que permita que
éste sea realmente un ejercicio de integración y de generación de tejido
social y de comunidad, para que todos los integrantes de una familia
encuentren alguna actividad que satisfaga su inquietud.
Acompañado de funcionarios municipales, de su esposa Lucy Huber y de sus
hijos Carlota, Antonio y María Andrea, el Alcalde Capitalino dijo que con
este programa el domingo se convierte “en un espacio donde nosotros hagamos
lo que nos plazca, que tengamos realmente un día libre y que sea un punto
de encuentro para los que tenemos la fortuna de vivir en este maravillo
Municipio”.
En este sentido, precisó que “Día Libre, ¡Nos Vemos en la Calle!” también
se llevará a las siete Delegaciones, anunciando que el próximo 4 de
noviembre se implementará este ejercicio en Santa Rosa Jáuregui; ya que
–resaltó- las Delegaciones tienen derecho a tener las mismas prestaciones y
las mismas políticas públicas o programas que se aplican en el Centro
Histórico.
“Tradicionalmente todo se impulsa para que suceda en el Centro Histórico y
esto no es equitativo ni obedece a un acto de justicia social”, manifestó
Roberto Loyola Vera, durante el arranque de este programa en el que se tuvo
una afluencia de poco más de siete mil personas desde las 8:00 hasta las
13:00 horas que dura el programa.
El Presidente Municipal recorrió el circuito que comprende Día Libre, en
donde saludó a los adultos mayores del grupo Máquina 501, de la Delegación
Felipe Carrillo Puerto, quienes le compartieron que practican la activación
física. Posteriormente, en el mismo trayecto, visitó el módulo del
Instituto Municipal de la Juventud, que contaba con una gran manta que se
utilizó como foro de expresión y graffiti para la gente que iba pasando.
En este espacio el Alcalde Roberto Loyola Vera y su esposa Lucy Huber, así
como el Delegado del Centro Histórico José Niembro, y los Secretarios de
Servicios Públicos y de Seguridad Pública, Gustavo Zepeda y Juan Marcos
Granados, respectivamente, plasmaron algunos mensajes.
En el módulo del Instituto de Cultura, observó los bailables de Huapango y
Chiapanecos que ofreció el Ballet Folklórico del Municipio de Querétaro.
Asimismo, visitó el módulo de la Coordinación de Accesibilidad y Desarrollo
para Personas con Discapacidad, en donde observó actividades de ajedrez en
braille y una muestra fotográfica de hazañas deportivas de gente con
discapacidad.
Las personas con discapacidad también realizaron un baile y basquetbol en
sillas de ruedas, con el objetivo de hacer conciencia sobre el trabajo y
necesidades de este sector de la población. Es de destacar que el
Presidente Municipal utilizó una silla de ruedas para jugar basquetbol.
En su momento, el Director del Instituto Municipal del Deporte y la
Recreación, Luis Carlos Hurtado Salinas, detalló que en este programa se
incluirán temas de accesibilidad, cultura y juventud; por lo que se cuenta
con la participación del Instituto de Cultura, de Accesibilidad, la
Secretaría de Seguridad Pública y la Secretaria de Servicios Públicos
Municipales.
Explicó que hoy se inicia con este programa, pero todos los domingos la
población en general podrá venir a disfrutar de este espacio con toda la
familia, ya que su objetivo es promover la convivencia, la comunicación, la
cohesión y la acción social.
En “Día Libre, ¡Nos Vemos en la Calle!”, se ofrecen actividades tales como
ajedrez para débiles visuales, basquetbol en silla de ruedas, actividad de
Cross Fit, mini cancha de futbol, baile folklórico, entre otras.
Resultado de la estrategia de seguridad integral que se implementó por
instrucciones del Presidente Municipal, Roberto Loyola Vera, durante el
periodo decembrino la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública de Seguridad Pública
del Municipio de Querétaro (SSPMQ) cerró el dispositivo con números
favorables.
Al destacar que “este éxito se logró gracias a la colaboración y
participación de la ciudadanía”, el titular de SSPMQ, José Héctor Benítez
López, reconoció el trabajo y esfuerzo de quienes integran la corporación,
“por ello en este 2015 seguiremos aplicando estrategias de seguridad en
beneficio de los habitantes queretanos, con el fin de seguir contando con
un municipio de paz y tranquilidad”.
En el marco de la rueda de prensa que se efectúo para dar a conocer los
resultados, el titular de la dependencia, José Héctor Benítez López, dijo
que del 28 de noviembre del 2014 al 06 de enero del año en curso, se logró
el aseguramiento de 409 personas, lo que representó un incremento del 13.6
por ciento en comparación con el mismo periodo del año anterior.
Dijo que del total de los detenidos, 401 personas se remitieron ante el
fuero común, encontrándose entre los delitos con mayor incidencia: contra
la seguridad de tránsito de vehículos, lesiones dolosas, el robo a
comercio, robo a transeúnte, robo a vehículo.
Declaró que en este dispositivo se aseguraron 20 kilos 650 gramos de hierba
verde seca con características propias de la marihuana, 190 gramos de
crack, 4.5 pastillas de psicotrópicos, 2 láminas de éxtasis y 20
envoltorios de polvo transparente parecido a la metanfetamina.
En cuanto a los vehículos recuperados, indicó que los oficiales recuperaron
109, es decir un 12.4 por ciento más que en el mismo periodo del año
anterior, en donde sólo se recuperaron 97 automotores.
El titular de la SSPMQ, explicó que durante el mes de diciembre se reforzó
el dispositivo Alcoholímetro, aplicándose en diferentes horarios y lugares,
y en donde se brindaron recomendaciones los automovilistas y sus
acompañantes, lo que permitió se redujeran los accidentes en un 34 por
ciento.
Dijo que del dispositivo Alcoholímetro, 107 personas fueron remitidas a la
Agencia Especializada en Delitos Contra la Seguridad del Tránsito de
Vehículos, al igual que sus automotores, se aplicaron 763 pruebas de
alcoholemia, 322 infracciones y 684 vehículos se remitieron a la bahía de
revisión.
En el número de accidentes, señaló que tan sólo se registraron en este 2014
un total de 637, mientras que el año anterior se tuvieron 966. Dijo que en
este 2014, 167 incidentes fueron de transporte público y 470 a vehículos
particulares.
Benítez López afirmó que se atendieron 88 mil 903 reportes en la Línea de
Emergencias 066, de las cuales 58 mil 097 fueron improcedentes, 27 mil 556
se canalizaron los servicios correspondientes y se orientó a 3 mil 250
personas.
Explicó que aunque se ha trabajado en acciones para fomentar una cultura de
la legalidad, el respeto y fortalecimiento del tejido social, se sigue
teniendo un número alto de eventos de riñas, pues tan sólo en este periodo
se registraron 3 mil 670 riñas, correspondientes a 1 mil 720 familiares,
seguido de 1 mil 435 simples y 515 campales, siendo las zonas norte y
norponiente con mayor incidencia.
Destacó que los radio operadores de la Línea de Emergencias 066, evitaron
que 174 personas fueran víctimas de algún acto de extorsión, toda vez que
se le orientó para que no se vieran afectados en este tipo de llamadas,
encontrando entre los principales motivos, la amenaza de daño, la posesión
de documentos personas en agravio del reportante y el supuesto secuestro.
En cuanto a infracciones, aseveró que se tuvo un incremento del 30.4 por
ciento, con 11 mil 305 , contra las 8 mil 669 del año anterior; este
aumento se debió a que las personas se estacionaron en lugares prohibidos,
principalmente en la zona del Centro Histórico, exterior del Instituto
Mexicano del Seguro Social y del Hospital General.
Con el fin de mantener entornos seguros, los efectivos policiales
instalaron diversos dispositivos de seguridad, tales como Transporte
Seguro, Revisión de Motocicletas, Preventivos de Seguridad y recorridos por
diversas zonas bancarias, comerciales, mercados, tianguis y el Centro
Histórico.
De esta forma, indicó que se tuvo la revisión de 270 vehículos del
transporte público foráneo, se entrevistaron con 394 conductores y
usuarios, así como 2 personas fueron remitidas al Juzgado Cívico por
ingerir bebidas embriagantes. Este dispositivo se efectuó sobre todo en las
comunidades de Correa, San Isidro Buenavista, Santa Catarina de la
delegación de Santa Rosa Jáuregui.
Por parte del Grupo de Reacción Inmediata Motorizada (GRIM), afirmó que se
estuvo realizando recorridos constantes en zonas bancarias y comerciales,
en donde se realizó la revisión el estatus jurídico de las motocicletas,
logrando la recuperación de 23 vehículos.
La Policía Turística, se mantuvo presente en el primer cuando de la ciudad,
en donde se orientó a los turistas nacionales y extranjeros, se aplicaron
606 infracciones y se apoyó en los diversos eventos tradicionales que se
realizaron por las fechas alusivas.

The 2015 Soda Fire burned nearly 280,000 acres in southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon, including nearly 200,000 acres of sage-grouse habitat, portions of 41 grazing allotments, three wild horse management areas, and a popular motorized and non-motorized recreation area. Due to the location of the fire and its effect on federal, state and private lands, a collaborative approach was taken to assess values at risk within the entire burned area. The Soda Fire Emergency Stabilization and Rehabilitation (ESR) plan was the first large scale fire to be planned and implemented following the release of Secretarial Order 3336 – Rangeland Fire Prevention, Management and Restoration.
The collaborative concept was carried forward with the development and implementation of the ESR effort. This level of collaboration which involved US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Idaho Department of Lands (IDL), Idaho Department of Fish & Game (IDFG) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is not typical of ESR efforts, but has been successful and supported. The Record of Decision was issued by the Boise and Vale Districts on October 21. The plan identified treatments to begin stabilizing the burned area, promote the recovery of native communities, increase perennial grasses, reduce invasive annual species, and restore shrubs and forbs to take the first steps toward the recovery of habitat for the greater sage-grouse. BLM continues to work with our partners through monitoring,
the development of grazing rest and resumption decisions, and adaptive management.
El Ministro de Transportes y Comunicaciones, José Gallardo Ku, recibió del Gobierno del Japón equipos destinados a implementar un sistema de prevención de desastres que permitirá a la población recibir información rápida, precisa y estable sobre emergencias.
El sistema -que utilizará el estándar de Televisión Digital Terrestre japonés brasileño ISDB-T, que viene siendo implementado en el Perú- podría utilizarse en caso de que el Fenómeno El Niño afecte a alguna de las localidades beneficiadas.
El "Proyecto para el Mejoramiento del equipamiento para la Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres en la República del Perú" comprende la donación e implementación de ocho sistemas de observación de mareas; ocho sistemas EWBS (Emergency Warning Broadcasting System), conformados por estaciones de televisión digital terrestre-TDT con capacidad para transmitir la señal EWBS; y 15 receptores de TDT con capacidad de recibir esa señal.
El Instituto Nacional de Defensa Civil (INDECI) es el responsable de emitir señal la alerta, la cual llega al Instituto Nacional de Radio y Televisión (IRTP), que la difunde a los hogares de la población de las localidades beneficiarias, utilizando el sistema EWBS (a través de la señal de televisión digital).
Las estaciones de TDT con EWBS -que estarán ubicadas en Arequipa (Arequipa, 1; Camaná, 3), Ica (Pisco, 1), La Libertad (Trujillo, 4), Lima (Lima, 1; Cañete, 1), Moquegua (Ilo, 4)- no solo podrán transmitir alertas por tsunami, sino también sobre diversos tipos de desastres, como inundaciones, deslizamientos, incendios, entre otros.
Actualmente en el Perú la información de desastres se tramite vía telefónica, radial o por email, siendo alta la probabilidad de interrupción en la comunicación cuando ocurre un desastre de gran magnitud.
"La introducción de este nuevo Sistema EWBS hará posible que la población reciba información más rápida, precisa y estable sobre emergencias por desastres, lo que contribuirá a salvar vidas y reducir daños", señaló Gallardo Ku.
El Ministro Gallardo y el Viceministro de Comunicaciones del Japón, Yasuo Sakamoto, destacaron la importancia del fortalecimiento de la cooperación entre ambos países en el campo de la televisión digital, así como ampliar la relación de cooperación en el sector de las tecnologías de la información y comunicación (TIC).
La entrega de equipos se realizó en el marco de la inauguración del Seminario Internacional en materia de Televisión Digital Terrestre (TDT) y Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicaciones (TIC), que se realizará los días 14 y 15 de enero de 2016 en Lima y en el que participarán delegados de 15 empresas japonesas.

The people of Shu communicated with spirits, gods and heaven realms primarily through their worship of mountains".

En un verdadero atractivo para los amantes del deporte y del público en general se convertirá durante esta temporada estival la Playa del Deporte 2013, hermoso recinto deportivo al aire libre que por sexto año consecutivo implementó la Municipalidad de Viña del Mar, a través de la Casa del Deporte.
La Playa del Deporte, situada frente al Club de Campo Las Salinas, fue oficialmente inaugurada este lunes por la alcaldesa Virginia Reginato, quien en compañía de los concejales Mafalda Reginato, Jaime Varas y del director de la Casa del Deporte, Javier Aravena además de invitados especiales y deportistas procedieron al tradicional corte de cinta.
Durante la ceremonia la primera autoridad comunal junto con mostrarse complacida por entregar a la comunidad esta nueva alternativa veraniega, hizo un llamado a la ciudadanía y a los miles de turistas que visitan Viña del Mar a concurrir a la Playa del Deporte para disfrutar de las diversas canchas que fueron habilitadas para la ocasión.
“La Playa del Deporte, se ha convertido durante sus seis temporadas en una experiencia muy positiva y enriquecedora para los habitantes de Viña del Mar y los turistas, que hacen de la actividad física y la recreación momentos relevantes en sus vacaciones. Al habilitar nuevamente este emblemático espacio de recreación, sana convivencia y espíritu deportivo, reiteramos nuestro compromiso con el deporte para todos los grupos etáreos de la comunidad, mostrando un nuevo rostro, pues ahora se complementada con la Quinta Etapa del Parque Borde Costero, donde existen modernas máquinas para hacer ejercicios, permitiendo una continuidad y mayor presencia de público en las actividades y talleres”, dijo la alcaldesa Virginia Reginato.
Por su parte el vicepresidente de la Federación de Tenis de Chile, José Santelices, a nombre de las diversas entidades que estarán presente durante el verano en la Playa del Deporte, destacó la iniciativa implementada en Viña del Mar, además de su continuidad resaltando el gran trabajo deportivo que se ha realizado en diversos sectores de la comuna.
Terminadas sus palabras el dirigente del tenis chileno, le obsequió a la jefa comunal una paleta de tenis beach.
Finalmente el director de la Casa del Deporte, Javier Aravena indicó que “en la Playa del Deporte se llevaran a cabo una serie de eventos entre los que destacan el Torneo de Rugby 5, el Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol Playa ANFP, el Sudamericano de Voleibol, el Torneo Gol Iluminado, las clínicas de Tenis Beach, Bodyboard y Surf además de los talleres de Tai Chi Kung, Baile Entretenido, Pilates, Taekwondo y gimnasia aeróbica por nombrar algunos.
CARACTERÍSTICAS
La Playa del Deporte habilitada sobre una superficie de 15 mil metros cuadrados, consta de una cancha de fútbol, una de rugby, tres de vóleibol y dos de beach tenis, además de un muro de escalada y un área de slake line.
La Playa del Deporte estará habilitada hasta marzo del presente año, dependiendo de las condiciones del tiempo.

El miércoles 8 de abril el programa “Clínicas Deportivas y Recreos Entretenidos 2015” visitó el establecimiento educacional del sector alto de Viña del Mar.
Una energética mañana vivieron los alumnos de la Escuela Miraflores, el miércoles 8 de abril, gracias a la visita de un equipo Casa del Deporte y su ya clásica actividad “Clínicas Deportivas y Recreos Entretenidos 2015”. Implementada por la alcaldesa Virginia Reginato, junto a la Ilustre Municipalidad de Viña del Mar, la actividad incluyó instrucciones de karate y balonmano, y todo el ritmo de la Zumba a cargo del Team Casa del Deporte.
Las clínicas deportivas estuvieron a cargo de nuestros profesores pertenecientes al programa gratuito “Escuelas Deportivas” Danton González y Cristian Zamora, quienes entregaron tips y una dinámica demostración de karate y balonmano. El encargado de entregar el ritmo y la energía a la jornada fue el Team Casa del Deporte, y que con sus coreografías de Zumba pusieron el broche de oro a una jornada en donde la actividad física fue protagonista.
A training of trainers of a South Sudan’s soon-to-be unified army concluded today, 4 October, with a graduation ceremony at the Military Training Centre in Luri near Juba.
The event marks a significant step forward for the implementation of the country’s revitalized peace agreement, signed in September last year.
Lieutenant General Shailesh Tinaikar, Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, described the project of training the nation’s unified forces as one with “tremendous implications for national integrity and security”. He called the graduating instructors “pioneers” with a “huge responsibility” to carry after having received just ten days of training.
“Whatever you do, however you act, is going to affect the soldiers who you train, so I implore you to be conscious of your actions, because you set the trend of the forces of South Sudan,” the Force Commander said.
Lieutenant General Tinaikar also stressed the importance of looking forward rather than backward.
“You have to forget your past, from where you come and your past affiliations, to work together for your young nation, for the state of South Sudan,” he said, reiterating his faith in the diligence and capacity of the instructors to train the unified forces properly.
A lack of qualified trainers has been slowing down the capacity building of units of the united armed forces in 35 cantonment sites across the country, making the readiness of instructors such a vital sign of progress.
To enable the establishment of a Transitional Government of National Unity on 12 November, the few hundred graduates will need to capacitate some 83,000 soldiers, the troops being merged from the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition.

Con el apoyo de la CROC y del Fondo PyME de la Secretaría de Economía, los proveedores de la rama turística y gastronómica de todo el país, se reunieron para ofrecer sus productos y servicios a una gran cantidad de consumidores, que acudieron los días 23 y 24 de agosto al WTC de este maravilloso municipio de Veracruz, para echarle la mano a México.
En el corte del listón inaugural estuvieron presentes el diputado federal Isaías González Cuevas, secretario general del CEN de la CROC; Rafael Domínguez Morfín, representante del fondo Pyme de la Secretaría de Economía; Marco Antonio Aguilar Yunes, secretario del trabajo del Gobierno del Estado; Salvador Manzur Díaz, presidente municipal de Boca del Río, y la alcaldesa de Veracruz, Carolina Gudiño Corro, entre otras destacadas personalidades.
Durante los dos días de Échale la Mano a México, se llevaron a cabo conferencias sobre temas de gran relevancia para nuestro país, el primero fue “Cómo Acelerar Tu Negocio a Través del Uso del Internet y las Redes Sociales” el cual estuvo a cargo del Mtro. Matías Bahena Voigt, director general de Viadeo.
Más tarde, se desarrolló la ponencia “Acuerdo Nacional de Turismo”, que encabezaron el dip. fed. Isaías González Cuevas, el Lic. Vicente Escalante, coordinador estatal de Fomento al Desarrollo Turístico de Veracruz, y la Dra. Alicia García Díaz Mirón, vicerrectora de la Universidad Cristóbal Colon.
La tercera y última conferencia se llamó “Cultura de Prevención de Desastres Naturales”, cuya ponencia fue dirigida por Isidro Cano Luna, director de Protección Civil de Boca del Río, Veracruz.
Échale la Mano a México es una iniciativa de preservación y generación de nuevos empleos decentes, en un entorno de crecimiento económico sustentable con desarrollo social, a fin de hacerlo compatible con las necesidades de nuestra sociedad.

Review of SDGs implementation: SDG 7 – Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
Achieving SDG 7 will catalyze actions to meet the Paris Agreement on climate change and reach the other SDGs including poverty eradication, gender equality, mitigation of and adaptation to climate change, food security, health, education, sustainable cities and communities, clean water and sanitation, jobs, innovation, and transport. However, without urgent action, the world will fall short of achievement of SDG 7 and consequently other SDGs.
The discussion is expected to assess progress, identify challenges at the national and international levels towards achieving SDG 7 including its targets on energy access, renewables, energy efficiency and means of implementation, and it will promote integrated policy solutions.

xuanjitu is an online, web-based implementation of Xuanji tu(璇玑图), an ancient palindrome poem by Chinese poet Su Hui. "One of the earliest extant poems by a woman—also among the most complex and unsung—the Xuanji tu takes the form of a 29 x 29 character grid, embroidered or woven in five colors in silk, written in classical Chinese in the fourth century." As the poem can be read horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, in either direction, there are thousands and thousands of ways through the grid that can form rhyming poems of various line lengths. Plenty of scholars have published books and papers about how to read it, over the thousand+ years since it was created, but mostly in the form of text and printed diagrams to show the paths through the grid.
This app animates those readings proposed by scholars, and (eventually, I hope) will allow visitors to discover new readings of their own.
Demo mode:
The app is still a work in progress. So far, it only has a non-interactive demo mode, where it runs in a continuous loop, about an hour long. The loop consists of over 500 readings (distinct poems) proposed by Michèle Métail in her book Wild Geese Returning: Chinese Reversible Poems (translated by Jody Gladding). For all colors other than red, the loop includes every reading listed in Métail's book (with minor exceptions); for red--which has such a disproportionately large number of possible readings that Métail doesn't list them in the book--the loop contains a sampling of readings that would be valid according to Métail's system.

The first consolidated audit summary report from mandatory audits conducted under the IMO Member State Audit Scheme will be considered this week, when the Sub-Committee on Implementation of IMO Instruments meets for its fifth session (III 5, 24-28 September). The mandatory audit of all Member States commenced in 2016, with the aim of determining the extent to which they give full and complete effect to their obligations and responsibilities contained in a number of IMO treaty instruments. The first summary report will provide vital information to assist the regulatory work of IMO as well as helping to identify capacity building or technical assistance needs. The Sub-Committee will also continue its regular work to review marine safety investigation reports and produce lessons learned from marine casualties.
Other items on the agenda include the expected finalization of a draft Model agreement for the authorization of recognized organizations acting on behalf of the Administration, in line with the requirements of the Code for Recognized Organizations (RO Code); and the updating of the Survey Guidelines under the Harmonized System of Survey and Certification, the Non-exhaustive list of obligations under instruments relevant to the IMO instruments implementation Code (III Code), and Procedures for port State control, for adoption by the IMO Assembly at its thirty-first session next year. The meeting was opened by IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim. III 5 is being chaired by Rear-Admiral Jean-Luc Le Liboux (France).

With the passage of the Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003 , certain portions of the electronic waste stream are defined and the systems to recover and recycle them will be administratively regulated beyond the universal waste rules that apply to material handling. A training of trainers of a South Sudan’s soon-to-be unified army concluded today, 4 October, with a graduation ceremony at the Military Training Centre in Luri near Juba.
The event marks a significant step forward for the implementation of the country’s revitalized peace agreement, signed in September last year.
Lieutenant General Shailesh Tinaikar, Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, described the project of training the nation’s unified forces as one with “tremendous implications for national integrity and security”. He called the graduating instructors “pioneers” with a “huge responsibility” to carry after having received just ten days of training.
“Whatever you do, however you act, is going to affect the soldiers who you train, so I implore you to be conscious of your actions, because you set the trend of the forces of South Sudan,” the Force Commander said.
Lieutenant General Tinaikar also stressed the importance of looking forward rather than backward.
“You have to forget your past, from where you come and your past affiliations, to work together for your young nation, for the state of South Sudan,” he said, reiterating his faith in the diligence and capacity of the instructors to train the unified forces properly.
A lack of qualified trainers has been slowing down the capacity building of units of the united armed forces in 35 cantonment sites across the country, making the readiness of instructors such a vital sign of progress.
To enable the establishment of a Transitional Government of National Unity on 12 November, the few hundred graduates will need to capacitate some 83,000 soldiers, the troops being merged from the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition.

Substantial progress has been made in structuring and implementing infrastructure projects in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean region, contributing to significant social, environmental and economic development. However, traditional support through national budgets and donor funding cannot meet ongoing needs for building and maintaining infrastructure; and access to new sources of private capital remains a challenge. The real and perceived risks for private investors (e.g. currency volatility, illiquid local capital markets, political uncertainty) have resulted in many projects remaining unfunded or delayed due to a lack of competitive financing options. The scale of investment to meet existing and future growth demands of the region requires targeted infrastructure investment and therefore new sources of capital - whether from the private sector or from the combination of public and private as Jordan’s Queen Alia International Airport successful PPP case demonstrates.
In this context, innovative approaches to increase private financing and government initiatives such as dedicated PPP units, project prioritization and acceleration programmes can help to address some of the country risks and increase access to capital for priority infrastructure projects. Despite the humongous task of rebuilding, new opportunities in infrastructure investment are emerging for the private sector. In this event, participants focused on the role of public-private structuring of investments and related initiatives that offer the potential to mobilize international capital markets and regional institutional investors to finance infrastructure.
