The Integrated Policy Exercise provides students with a week-long opportunity to work intensively on a policy issue. All students participate as part of a team representing different constituencies with an interest in the problem being studied. Working in groups of 7 to 10, students are assigned a role such as lobbying firm, public official, or economic group. The Winter 2015 IPE, “Bolstering Detroit's Economic Renewal through Skilled Workers: Implementing Governor Snyder's Visa Plan” took place on January 5, 6, and 9, 2015 at the Ford School’s Joan and Sanford Weill Hall, and at the Detroit Institute of Arts in Detroit, MI. This new public school for 500 students is located in a tough South Los Angeles neighborhood almost directly under the flight path into LAX and adjacent to the very busy 105 Century freeway. The design was influenced by the New Orleans architects Curtis and Davis who designed and built many schools in the early 1950s in Louisiana. Their designs adapted to the harsh southern climate without using air conditioning, creating sustainable light filled and poetic spaces for kids to learn.
Similarly, this project is designed to enhance passive sustainable strategies. It allows for abundant natural light, ventilation and view, while shading itself and inducing airflow. The south facade is clad with 650 solar panels that shade the building and provides 75% of the energy needs for the school. Implementing these strategies will reduce carbon emissions by over 3 million pounds.
With a project certification under California High Performance Schools (CHPS) and possible LEED Certification; aesthetics, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness were considered in every design decision. Taking full advantage of the region’s temperate climate, the designers eschewed the fully contained “big box” idiom of conventional schools on the primary use site. Instead, a landscaped courtyard with multifunctional “bleacher” terracing flows into the open-air covered lobby and the multilayered paseo, lending the school the appeal of a collegiate campus and offering significant environmental benefits—improving daylighting and access to fresh air both inside and out—while providing substantial cost savings by limiting artificial lighting and thermal conditioning to the smaller enclosed spaces.

The ‘Global NDC Conference 2017: integrated governance, finance and transparency for delivering climate goals’ took place in Berlin, Germany, from 2 – 6 May 2017. The conference was jointly organized by the LEDS GP, the GIZ Support Project for the Implementation of the Paris Agreement (SPA), and the UNDP Low Emission Capacity Building (LECB) Programme, in collaboration with the NDC Partnership.

Inveneo is proud to be an implementing partner with Creative Associates in the Tanzania 21st Century Basic Education Program (Tz21) where our role is to lead the technology intervention design and deployment with Kicheko Ltd, our Inveneo Certified ICT Partner (ICIP) in Tanzania. Together, Inveneo and Kicheko have been instrumental in introducing sustainable technology solutions that are relevant to rural Tanzanian schools that often lack electrical power and ICT skilled staff.
Recently we passed a major milestone in the program - the deployment of information and communication technologies to 5 pilot schools.
Dr. H.E. Kavishe of Kicheko, Wayan Vota and Jen Overgaag of Inveneo, assisted by a cadre of Kicheko technicians, installed a mix of laptops, desktops, LED projectors and related networking and power equipment at Naliendele, Kambarage, Darajani, and Kisiwandui Primary Schools, and Machakaeni Teacher Center.
The pilot deployment is testing technology configurations and the installation was used to train local engineers on Inveneo installation methodologies in preparation for the major ICT deployment to all schools, scheduled for early 2012.

Post the implementation of the module, both enterprise report a rise in productivity, better management of workplace issues, and innovation.

FENATRAD organizes workshop for the implementation of C189
The National Federation of Domestic Workers (FENATRAD), with the support of the International Federation of Domestic Workers (IDWF) held, from Friday to Sunday (23, 24 and 25), the National Workshop of the Federation. The event aimed to define new guidelines for the category. The meeting took place at the Florestã Fernandes National School (MST), in the city of Guararema (SP) and was supported by Solidarity Centre.

Ministerio de Vivienda y Urbanismo está implementando el Programa de Regeneración de Conjuntos Habitacionales en la Villa Jorge Alessandri de la ciudad de Antofagasta, con el objeto de mejorar la calidad de vida de las familias que habitan en este condominio social.
Antofagasta, Febrero 2018. El Conjunto Habitacional Villa Jorge Alessandri de la comuna de Antofagasta se construyó a mediados de la década del 80 entre los sectores Trocadero y Barrio Industrial, y está constituido por 256 departamento que tienen una superficie promedio que no supera los 35 m2.
El año 2006 fue uno de los barrios seleccionados por el Programa “Quiero Mi Barrio”, que permitió generar proyectos físicos y sociales acordados participa y colectivamente con la comunidad. En este proceso los dirigentes de la Villa y sus vecinos manifestaron el deseo de mejorar las condiciones de habitabilidad, dadas las problemáticas de hacinamiento y falta de espacios públicos que afectan al condominio.
El año 2016 el Minvu hizo una priorización de todo el área a través de una Zona de Interés Público que considera distintos proyectos urbanos para este sector de la ciudad de Antofagasta; y una de las líneas de acción sectorial priorizada fue la implementación del Programa de Regeneración de Conjuntos Habitacionales en la Villa Jorge Alessandri.
En el marco de este Programa se trabajó con la comunidad y el municipio en la construcción de un Plan Maestro, que determinó la necesidad de regenerar y reconstruir todo el conjunto habitacional, para conducir así a una mejor utilización de la manzana donde se encuentra ubicado el condominio, aportando a la relación de éste con la ciudad.
Por ello, recientemente los vecinos se reunieron en una asamblea con alta convocatoria para conocer las 2 empresas que -bajo licitación- se adjudicaron el proyecto, que en sus grandes líneas de ejecución considera, por una parte, la movilidad de las familias y, por otra, la construcción de las nuevas soluciones habitacionales.
En la ocasión, se presentaron y expusieron las empresas “Ebco”, constructora a cargo de la demolición y construcción de los departamentos, y la Entidad Patrocinante “DyM”, responsable de trabajar en la organización de la demanda de las familias y en la posterior movilidad de éstas. Ambas entidades cuentan con amplia experiencia en sus rubros.
Asimismo, en la oportunidad se dio a conocer el anteproyecto del nuevo conjunto habitacional, que fue conocido por la asamblea. Y la entidad patrocinante explicó la forma en que se irán trabajando los temas asociados a movilidad, copropiedad y otros.
El Secretario Regional Ministerial de Vivienda y Urbanismo, Mauricio Zamorano, entregó la tranquilidad a los beneficiarios sobre la continuidad del proyecto y enfatizó que la tarea es llevar esto a cabo de la mejor forma posible, mediante un trabajo conjunto, donde la participación de los beneficiados en todas las instancias programadas es primordial.
PROGRAMA
El Programa Regeneración de Conjuntos Habitacionales busca responder a las necesidades colectivas de habitabilidad presentes en la población que reside en conjuntos de viviendas sociales y que se encuentran en condiciones críticas de déficit y deterioro de inmuebles y bienes comunes de alta densidad habitacional.
Su objetivo principal es mejorar las condiciones de habitabilidad de conjuntos habitacionales en relación a los estándares de calidad determinados por el Ministerio de Vivienda y Urbanismo, a través de su regeneración urbana, mediante proyectos de reparación, ampliación o reconstrucción de viviendas, mejoramiento de bienes comunes, construcción de áreas verdes, equipamiento y espacios públicos, apuntando a un proceso participativo, integral y sustentable. El proyecto Villa “Jorge Alessandri” de Antofagasta, se construirá con la figura de condominios sociales, aplicándose la normativa de la Ley 19.537.

Juba, 9 November 2022 – At a press briefing held at the UNMISS headquarters in Juba, South Sudan, today, Under-Secretary-General for UN Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, urged signatories to the Revitalized Peace Agreement to redouble their efforts at implementing all outstanding benchmarks contained within this 2018 peace deal. USG Lacroix’s views were echoed by the Secretary-General’s Chef de Cabinet, Courtenay Rattray. Both high-ranking UN officials have concluded a four-day visit to South Sudan where they engaged with political actors, women’s groups, humanitarians, the donor community, and peacekeepers.

El Ministro de Transportes y Comunicaciones, José Gallardo Ku, recibió del Gobierno del Japón equipos destinados a implementar un sistema de prevención de desastres que permitirá a la población recibir información rápida, precisa y estable sobre emergencias.
El sistema -que utilizará el estándar de Televisión Digital Terrestre japonés brasileño ISDB-T, que viene siendo implementado en el Perú- podría utilizarse en caso de que el Fenómeno El Niño afecte a alguna de las localidades beneficiadas.
El "Proyecto para el Mejoramiento del equipamiento para la Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres en la República del Perú" comprende la donación e implementación de ocho sistemas de observación de mareas; ocho sistemas EWBS (Emergency Warning Broadcasting System), conformados por estaciones de televisión digital terrestre-TDT con capacidad para transmitir la señal EWBS; y 15 receptores de TDT con capacidad de recibir esa señal.
El Instituto Nacional de Defensa Civil (INDECI) es el responsable de emitir señal la alerta, la cual llega al Instituto Nacional de Radio y Televisión (IRTP), que la difunde a los hogares de la población de las localidades beneficiarias, utilizando el sistema EWBS (a través de la señal de televisión digital).
Las estaciones de TDT con EWBS -que estarán ubicadas en Arequipa (Arequipa, 1; Camaná, 3), Ica (Pisco, 1), La Libertad (Trujillo, 4), Lima (Lima, 1; Cañete, 1), Moquegua (Ilo, 4)- no solo podrán transmitir alertas por tsunami, sino también sobre diversos tipos de desastres, como inundaciones, deslizamientos, incendios, entre otros.
Actualmente en el Perú la información de desastres se tramite vía telefónica, radial o por email, siendo alta la probabilidad de interrupción en la comunicación cuando ocurre un desastre de gran magnitud.
"La introducción de este nuevo Sistema EWBS hará posible que la población reciba información más rápida, precisa y estable sobre emergencias por desastres, lo que contribuirá a salvar vidas y reducir daños", señaló Gallardo Ku.
El Ministro Gallardo y el Viceministro de Comunicaciones del Japón, Yasuo Sakamoto, destacaron la importancia del fortalecimiento de la cooperación entre ambos países en el campo de la televisión digital, así como ampliar la relación de cooperación en el sector de las tecnologías de la información y comunicación (TIC).
La entrega de equipos se realizó en el marco de la inauguración del Seminario Internacional en materia de Televisión Digital Terrestre (TDT) y Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicaciones (TIC), que se realizará los días 14 y 15 de enero de 2016 en Lima y en el que participarán delegados de 15 empresas japonesas.
