En el año 2016 se vio dentro de la ría de avilés el último colimbo y nada menos que cuatro años después volvimos a ver otro ejemplar.
cada vez resulta mas difícil ver a estos buceadores por estas latitudes.

Lac de Michelbach
C'est ma première rencontre avec le plongeon imbrin (ou plongeon huard) dont la présence était signalée depuis quelques jours. Il était resté assez loin hélas mais pour une première je vais me contenter de cette qualité moyenne.
Michelbach Lake
This is my first encounter with the Common Loon whose presence had been reported in recent days. It had remained quite far unfortunately but for a lifer I will settle for this medium quality.
I found this Great Northern Diver/Loon, in it's winter plumage, swimming and diving in the sea at Hartlepool.

Common Loon pair (Gavia immer) slowly glide with the gentle current on the lake rocking their young chicks into peaceful rest. Taken in Lincoln County, Wisconsin on June 4, 2017.
The young loon chicks are getting quite big and are starting to develop their adult plumage in advance of the migration to the Gulf of Mexico.

I watched this Loon swim closer to the shore until it did what I would not expect but let itself wash ashore. Bird remained on the sand for about a minute until it realized that it didn't belong there for its feet are way on the back of the body and not useful for walking.
