While the barley field is avoiding the wind and deeply bowing down before it, a group of poppies is standing upright and resisting.
That's how it is everywhere, that's how it always has been and that's how it will be forever, no matter if the farmer doesn't like it, or the neighbours or the barley.
The true nature will always find a way and it never was the unquestioning conformity.

Geographie
Tromsø liegt 344 km Luftlinie nördlich des Polarkreises. Dies entspricht der geographischen Breite von Nord-Alaska. Tromsø beheimatet nicht nur die nördlichste Universität, sondern auch die nördlichste Kathedrale der Welt.

Nicht immer ist bei Sonnenuntergang nur die Sonne zu sehen. Manchmal werden der Himmel und die Wolken in unveränderliche Farben getaucht. Die Landschaft wirkt dadurch weicher und ein Spaziergang macht richtig Freude.
The sun is not always visible at sunset. Sometimes the sky and the clouds are dipped in immutable colors. The landscape is softer and a walk is a real pleasure.

Saw 2 of these beautiful birds in breeding, yesterday and today. So tame as they hunted for crabs they could care less about us lying there. Other birds present were Eared Grebes, Horned Grebes, Pied-billed Grebes, Long-tailed Ducks and Harlequin Ducks among others.
Loons are truly one of my favourite birds. I love watching them carry their babies on their back and feed them so diligently. There are very few birds in my opinion, that can top a Common Loon in breeding. We watched 2 of them fight and drag one all over and under the water (all ended well), wing flapping and both calling. There is no more iconic and haunting sound than that call of a Common Loon. So really, what is so common about a Common Loon? ;)

Es ist immer magisch das Wellen-, und Wolkenspiel zu beobachten. Und dann kommt noch einmal die Sonne bevor sie für diesen Tag wieder im Meer versinkt.

It lies very still in front of me, the Quitzdorf reservoir in Saxony. Wafts of mist rise from the smooth surface and float across the water, lending the scene something magical and fairytale-like.
It will be a while before sunrise. and the people around the lake are still seem to be asleep (I assume at least strongly, based on the time). But nature is already beginning to stir. In addition to the buzzing of the mosquitoes, which keep stubbornly flying at me, I hear the first songbirds behind me and on the other bank the unmistakable calls of the cranes.
And in the middle of the lake a fisherman floats through the fog in a small boat. He was already there when I arrived at the bank and it was still much darker.
So there seems to be others outside of photographers who just can't resist those special moments before sunrise.
Ganz still liegt er vor mir, der Stausee von Quitzdorf in Sachsen. Von der glatten Wasseroberfläche steigen Nebelschwaden empor und treiben über das Wasser und verleihen der Szene etwas magisches und märchenhaftes.
Bis Sonnenaufgang wird es noch eine Weile dauern. und die Menschen rund um den See schlafen noch tief und fest (vermute ich zumindest stark, auf Grund der Uhrzeit). Doch die Natur beginnt sich bereits zu regen. Neben dem Summen der Mücken, die mich immer wieder hartnäckig anfliegen, höre ich die ersten Singvögel hinter mir die ersten Singvögel und am anderen Ufer das unverkennbare Rufen der Kraniche.
Und Mitten auf dem See treibt ein Angler in einem kleinen Boot durch den Nebel. Er war schon dort, als ich am Ufer angekommen bin und es noch deutlich dunkler war.
Es scheint also auch außerhalb der Fotografen noch andere zu geben, die diesen besonderen Momenten vor Tagesanbruch nicht widerstehen können.

I was delighted to see this Great Northern Diver in its smart adult summer plumage from the ferry boat crossing back to the mainland from Mull. Whilst on Mull this April most of the others I saw were still in winter plumage. Once they dive they stay under water for a minute or more covering some distance before reappearing elsewhere. Its large feet which project behind its tail are just visible here.

And bad scrum. However, these bees were moving so fast that I could usually only catch one or two on the approach. That's why there is a summary of the story with several pictures to see here ;-) It was incredibly fascinating to watch the busy bees doing their busy work. There were so many, back and forth again and again – digging earth out of the tunnel, whirling it with the wings, flying to the neighbors' roses, cutting leaves, rolling them up, transporting them to the flower pot and crawling into the depths of the soil ... I hope my oleander will survive ;-)

Und arges Gedrängel. Allerdings waren diese Bienen so schnell unterwegs, dass ich meistens nur eine oder zwei im Anflug erwischen konnte. Deshalb gibt es hier eine Zusammenfassung der Geschichte aus mehreren Bildern zu sehen ;-) Es war unglaublich faszinierend, die umtriebigen Bienen bei ihrer emsigen Tätigkeit zu beobachten. Es waren so viele, immer wieder hin und zurück – Erde aus dem Tunnel wühlen, mit den Flügeln wegwirbeln, zu den Rosen des Nachbarn fliegen, Blatt zuschneiden, aufrollen, zum Blumentopf transportieren und in die Tiefen des Erdreichs hineinkrabbeln ... Ich hoffe, mein Oleander überlebt es ;-)

Endlich war mal schönes Wetter, also hab ich mich auf den Weg an die Ostsee zu den Meerstrandläufern gemacht. Sie überwintern jedes Jahr dort und sind fast immer an den gleichen Buhnen anzutreffen.

Finally a sunny day, so I spent a day on the Baltic Sea to see the Purple Sandpipers. They are migrating birds and wintering every year at the same place.
A hike through the forest is always a wonderful experience in itself. No matter what time of day, what time of year and what weather.
When the low sun shines through the trees in the morning or evening hours, it becomes really magical. Then the atmosphere changes fundamentally.
And as I move through the forest and the sun moves towards the horizon, it changes again and again. It's so thrilling and exciting because you never know what effect you'll discover around the next bend or tree.
Eine Wanderung durch den Wald ist ja an sich schon jedesmal ein wunderschönes Erlebnis. Ganz gleich zu welcher Tageszeit, zu welcher Jahreszeit und bei welchem Wetter.
Wenn dann in den Morgen- oder Abendstunden noch die tief stehende Sonne durch die Bäume scheint wird es richtig magisch. Dann verändert sich die Atmosphäre grundlegend.
Und während ich mich durch den Wald bewege und die Sonne Richtung Horizont wandert verändert sie sich immer und immer wieder. Das ist so spannend und aufregend, denn man weiß nie vorher, welchen Effekt man hinter der nächsten Kurve oder dem nächsten Baum wohl entdecken wird.

Immer wieder abwechslungsreich gestaltete sich der Fernverkehr zwischen Dresden und Nürnberg, Triebwagen und lokbespannte wechselten sich in teilweise nur kurzen Abständen ab. Im Herbst 2005 domierten die Baureihen 232 und 233 und bei Ruppertsgrün konnte ich 233 521 im angenehmen Licht eines wunderbaren Abends ablichten.
Passenger traffic between Dresden and Nürnberg has seen many changes within the last two decades. In some years, DMU's and loco-hauled trains alternated in short periods of only a couple of weeks. In autumn 2005, classes 232 and 233 dominated the traffic and I could catch 233 521 near Ruppertsgrün.
Low light, again, as in all the times I've found this beautiful species...
I was on the way to Blönduós and the lake was on my left side. I've seen this lovely family and I've stopped to photograph it.
The parents were very active feeding the chicks with very small fish. Suddenly, in a moment of distraction from the parents when they were diving (I didn't even noticed how it happened because it was so fast), the babies, maybe dragged by the current, have disappeared from sight.
The desperation of the parents was so intense! I can still hear the creepy sound of them calling for the chicks.
Finally, when I was leaving the place, so sad with this episode, I saw one of the babies, very far from the parents. I hope the parents saw it too, and I hope they have found the other one.

Usedom ist immer eine Reise wert, nach Rügen die zweitgrößte Insel in Deutschland von Berlin schnell erreichbar und für Berliner*innen ein sehr beliebtes Urlaubsziel.
Seit der Wiedervereinigung haben wir die Insel schon oft besucht. Das Klima ist für Stadtmenschen ein Labsal. Die Sonneninsel, schon im März kann man mit kurzen Ärmeln am Strand entlang wandern.
Ich wünsche Euch eine gute Zeit, trotz der strengen Regeln. Bleibt gesund mit AHA L sollte es uns auch gelingen, liebe Freunde.

Wikipedia"Ostseeinsel Usedom in Ahlbeck ist die älteste Seebrücke in Deutschland. Von der über dem Strand gelegenen Plattform mit Restaurant führt ein 280 m langer Seesteg in die Ostsee, an dessen Ende Ausflugsschiffe anlegen.
Usedom ist eine in der Pommerschen Bucht der südlichen Ostsee gelegene Insel, die größtenteils zu Deutschland und zu einem kleinen Teil zu Polen gehört. Durch den Peenestrom und das Stettiner Haff ist sie vom Festland getrennt und durch die Świna (Swine) von der Nachbarinsel Wolin. Nach Rügen ist Usedom die zweitgrößte deutsche Insel. Bis 1945 gehörte sie zur preußischen Provinz Pommern."
Usedom is always worth a visit, the second largest island in Germany after Rügen and quickly accessible from Berlin.
We have visited the island many times since the reunification. The climate is a refreshment for city dwellers. The sun island, already in March you can walk along the beach with short sleeves.

Usedom is an island located in the Pomeranian Bay of the southern Baltic Sea, which belongs mostly to Germany and a small part to Poland. It is separated from the mainland by the Peene Current and the Szczecin Lagoon and from the neighbouring island of Wolin by the Świna (Swine). After Rügen, Usedom is the second largest German island. Until 1945 it belonged to the Prussian province of Pomerania.
Usedom vaut toujours le détour, la deuxième plus grande île d'Allemagne après Rügen et rapidement accessible depuis Berlin.
Nous avons visité l'île à de nombreuses reprises depuis la réunification. Le climat est un rafraîchissement pour les citadins. L'île du soleil, déjà en mars vous pouvez vous promener sur la plage avec des manches courtes.

This Common Loon photo was take on a lake in Alberta, Canada.
An interesting fact of of these birds are that they are solid rather than air filled like other birds.
Loons heavy bones reduce their buoyancy, which makes it easier for them to dive. Loons can dive as deep as 60 meters.

Tromsø ist mit 76.649 Einwohnern (Stand 1. Januar 2019) die achtgrößte Stadt Norwegens und die größte Stadt im Norden des Landes. Die Provinzverwaltung der Fylke Troms og Finnmark hat hier ebenso ihren Sitz wie der Arktische Rat.[2]
Der wichtigste Arbeitgeber ist das Universitätsklinikum in Nord-Norwegen (UNN) mit etwa 4.500 Angestellten. In Tromsø befinden sich eine Universität, die Norwegische Fischereihochschule, das Klima- und Umweltforschungszentrum Framsenteret und die Mack-Brauerei.
Geographie
Tromsø liegt 344 km Luftlinie nördlich des Polarkreises. Dies entspricht der geographischen Breite von Nord-Alaska. Tromsø beheimatet nicht nur die nördlichste Universität, sondern auch die nördlichste Kathedrale der Welt.
Tromsø ist mit einem administrativen Stadtgebiet von 2.558 km² (davon 1.434 km² auf dem Festland und 1.124 km² auf mehreren Inseln vor der Küste) die flächengrößte Stadt Norwegens.
Die Universität, der Flughafen und das Zentrum befinden sich auf der Insel Tromsøya. Zudem machen Schiffe auf der Hurtigruten im Hafen von Tromsø (UN/LOCODE NO TOS) Station.

Tromsø lies in Northern Norway. The 2,521-square-kilometre (973 sq mi) municipality is the 18th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Tromsø is the 9th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 71,590 (2014). The municipality's population density is 30.6 inhabitants per square kilometre (79/sq mi) and its population has increased by 15.9% over the last decade.[6][7] It is the largest urban area in Northern Norway and the third largest north of the Arctic Circle anywhere in the world (following Murmansk and Norilsk). Most of Tromsø, including the city centre, is located on the island of Tromsøya, 350 kilometres (217 mi) north of the Arctic Circle. In 2017, the city of Tromsø had a population of about 65,000 people spread out over Tromsøya and parts of Kvaløya and the mainland. Tromsøya is connected to the mainland by the Tromsø Bridge and the Tromsøysund Tunnel, and to the island of Kvaløya by the Sandnessund Bridge.
The municipality is warmer than most other places located on the same latitude, due to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream. Tromsø is even milder than places much farther south of it elsewhere in the world, such as on the Hudson Bay and in Far East Russia, with the warm-water current allowing for both relatively mild winters and tree growth in spite of its very high latitude.
The city centre of Tromsø contains the highest number of old wooden houses in Northern Norway, the oldest house dating from 1789. The city is a cultural centre for its region, with several festivals taking place in the summer. Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge of the electronica duo Röyksopp and Lene Marlin grew up and started their careers in Tromsø. Noted electronic musician Geir Jenssen also hails from Tromsø.
Immer zur Hochsommerzeit fliegt einer der größten mitteleuropäischen Tagfalter, der Kaisermantel oder Silberstrich (Argynnis paphia). Im Bild ein Weibchen, das gerade an einer Distelblüte Nektar saugt.
Die Fortpflanzung dieses Falters ist außerordentlich interessant und komplex. Soviel sei verraten, dass die Eier vom begatteten Weibchen an Baumstämmen abgelegt werden, an deren Fuß Veilchen wachsen. Weitergehende Information findet man hier:
Always at the height of summer, one of the largest Central European butterflies, the silver-washed fritillary (Argynnis paphia), flies. The picture shows a female sucking nectar on a thistle flower.
The reproduction of this butterfly is extremely interesting and complex. The eggs are laid by the mated female on tree trunks with violets growing at their base. Further information can be found here:
