GER: Herzlich willkommen in einem der Wartezimmer vom Vivantes Klinikum „Am Friedrichshain“ im gleichnamigen Bezirk Friedrichshain Berlin. Nein, ich habe meinen Arbeitsplatz nicht gewechselt. Ich war dort nur zu Besuch.
ENG: The Red City Hall is the seat of the Governing Mayor, the Senate Chancellery and the venue for meetings of the Berlin Senate. It is located at Rathausstraße 15 in the Mitte district. It was built from 1861 to 1871 according to plans by Hermann Friedrich Waesemann in round arch style as the seat of the Lord Mayor, the City Council and the City Council of Berlin. Its name is derived from the red brick façade.

The Lech is a tributary of the Danube. The 256 km long river has its source in the Austrian Vorarlberg and flows through Tyrol and then through the German southern Bavaria, where it flows into the Danube. Shortly before the Austrian-German border it takes in the Vils, forms the artificial Lechfall "Wasserfall" before Füssen and crosses Swabia and Upper Bavaria on its way. The largest cities along the Lech are Landsberg and Augsburg, where it receives its largest tributary, the Wertach. Near Marxheim the river flows into the Danube.
As early as the 19th century, scientist John Tyndall proved that the color of a river is not due to the water (pure H2O), but to the minerals that the river brings with it. When the proportion of fine sediments is low, such as in snow or glacial ice, the sunlight is filtered and refracted so that the river appears bluish. If the proportion of dissolved and suspended minerals is higher, which, as in the case of the Lech, originate from limestone rocks, the coloration turns more turquoise.

Der Lech ist ein Nebenfluss der Donau. Der 256 km lange Fluss entspringt im österreichischen Vorarlberg und fließt durch Tirol und dann durchs deutsche Südbayern, wo er in die Donau mündet. Kurz vor der österreichisch-deutschen Grenze nimmt er die Vils auf, bildet vor Füssen den künstlichen Lechfall „Wasserfall“ und durchquert auf seinem Weg Schwaben und Oberbayern. Die größten Städte am Lech sind Landsberg und Augsburg, wo er seinen größten Nebenfluss, die Wertach, aufnimmt. Bei Marxheim mündet der Fluss in die Donau.
Bereits im 19. Jahrhundert wurde vom Wissenschaftler John Tyndall bewiesen, dass die Farbe eines Flusses nicht am Wasser (reines H2O), sondern an den Mineralien liegt, die der Fluss mit sich bringt. Wenn der Anteil an Feinstsedimenten gering ist wie etwa in Schnee oder Gletschereis, wird das Sonnenlicht so gefiltert und gebrochen, dass der Fluss bläulich erscheint. Bei höheren Anteilen gelöster und suspendierter Mineralstoffen, die wie beim Lech aus Kalkgesteinen herrühren, geht die Färbung mehr ins Türkise.

ENG: This full moon last night had attracted many photographers outside, as I could see on the hill of the Anton Saefkow Park in Prenzlauer Berg. I felt a bit out of place with my iPhone. But despite all that, I am very surprised by the smartphone result.

GER: Dieser Vollmond letzte Nacht hatte viele Fotografen nach draußen gelockt, wie ich auf der Erhöhung des Anton-Saefkow-Parks im Prenzlauer Berg feststellen konnte. Da kam ich mir mit dem iPhone schon etwas fehl am Platz vor. Aber trotz alledem bin ich vom Smartphone Ergebnis sehr überrascht.

It is part of the extension of the U5 underground line from Hönow deep in the east of the city beyond Alexanderplatz to Brandenburg Gate and on to the terminus at Hauptbahnhof. The construction had its ground-breaking ceremony in 2010 and it has now been ceremoniously opened on 4 December 2020 at 12 noon. The second new station also opened on 4 December and is called "Rotes Rathaus". The third and last new station will then be called "Museumsinsel" and is scheduled to open in mid-2021.

ENG: Hi, everybody out there. Somehow it's strange when the landmarks of a city are so empty. Only very few people have crossed my way on Monday during my little bike tour to free my head from the clinic everyday life. That is somehow eerie and surreal.

GER: Hi ihr lieben da draußen. Irgendwie ist es schon komisch, wenn die Wahrzeichen einer Stadt so verweist sind. Nur ganz ganz wenige Leute haben meinen Weg am Montag gekreuzt bei meiner kleinen Radtour um den Kopf vom Klinik Alltag freizubekommen. Das ist schon irgendwie unheimlich und surreal.
Zu sehen ist der Berliner Dom im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte.

You can see the Residenz courtyard garden.
The Würzburger Residenz is a baroque residential building on the edge of the city centre of Würzburg. It was begun in 1720 and completed by 1744, but the Residenz was only completed in 1781. The overall planning of the Würzburg Court Garden goes back to Johann Prokop Mayer, whom Prince Bishop Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim appointed as court gardener to Würzburg in 1770. And the garden is still a unique recreational area for residents and visitors today.

Zu sehen ist die Residenz und der Hofgarten.
Die Würzburger Residenz ist ein barocker Residenzbau am Rande der Innenstadt von Würzburg, der 1720 begonnen wurde und bis 1744 vollendet wa, aber die Residenz wurde im Jahr 1781 erst komplett fertiggestellt. Die Gesamtplanung des Würzburger Hofgartens geht zurück auf Johann Prokop Mayer, den Fürstbischof Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim 1770 als Hofgärtner nach Würzburg berief. Und der Garten ist heute noch ein einmaliger Erholungsort für die Anwohner und Besucher.

ENG: Last Thursday I was on the road again with my work colleague in Berlin Mitte to take some pictures. Frank Wegener is unfortunately very rarely on Flickr, because he prefers another platform, 500px or so, I think. He was on the road with his Sony Alpha 7 and I was once again with him on my smartphone. ☻
The House of World Cultures (former name: Congress Hall) was the US-American contribution to the 1957 International Building Exhibition. The technically revolutionary building was declared a gift from America to its friend West Berlin and was built on the south bank of the Spree in the Tiergarten. The Berlin vernacular soon aptly named the building "Pregnant Oyster". The building also produced a sad headline, because on May 21, 1980, during a press conference, the southern part of the roof edge collapsed due to a structural failure.

GER: Letzten Donnerstag war ich mal wieder mit meinem Arbeitskollegen in Berlin Mitte unterwegs um ein paar Fotos zu machen. Frank Wegener ist leider nur sehr selten auf Flickr unterwegs, da er eine andere Plattform bevorzugt, glaube 500px oder so. Er war mit seiner Sony Alpha 7 unterwegs und ich mal wieder mitbedenkendem Smartphone. ☻
Das Haus der Kulturen der Welt (früherer Name: Kongresshalle) war der US-amerikanische Beitrag zur Internationalen Bauausstellung 1957. Das technisch revolutionäre Gebäude wurde als Geschenk Amerikas an das befreundete West-Berlin deklariert und entstand am Südufer der Spree im Tiergarten. Der Berliner Volksmund nannte das Gebäude bald treffend "Schwangere Auster". Eine traurige Schlagzeile produzierte das Haus ebenfalls, denn am 21. Mai 1980 stürzte der südliche Teil des Dachrandes während einer Pressekonferenz durch einen Statikfehler ein.

ENG: You can see the Lübeck City Hall on the north and east side of the market square.
This beautiful town hall from about 1240 of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck has been responsible for the fate of the city for almost 800 years. It is one of the most famous brick Gothic buildings and it is one of the largest medieval town halls in Germany. Unfortunately, because of the Corona Ordinances, no building tours were allowed during my visit. So I had to be content with the entrance area as well as the exterior view.

GER: Zu sehen ist das Lübecker Rathaus an der Nord- und Ostseite des Marktplatzes.
Dieses wunderschöne Rathaus von etwa 1240 der Hansestadt Lübeck ist seit fast 800 Jahre für die Geschicke der Stadt zuständig. Es zählt zu den bekanntesten Bauwerken der Backsteingotik und es ist eines der größten mittelalterlichen Rathäuser in Deutschland. Wegen der Corona Verordnungen durften bei meinen Besuch leider keine Gebäude Führungen stattfinden. So mußte ich mich mit dem Eingangsbereich sowie der Aussenansicht begnügen.

Initially started a few hisses at me then proceeded with the spring cleaning of his feathers. Really long neck and was bending and twisting it around to all sorts of angles.

While this may look like a botanical print, it's actually a close-up of leaves in a piece of handmade paper I brought home from Thailand last year. As part of a group craft at a paper factory, we placed local leaves and flowers in a slurry of wood cellulose and pulp which then was left to dry in special frames. A few days later, our custom handmade paper was sent ahead to our hotel in Chiang Mai. Tonight I unwrapped mine and hung it over a lampshade so it was lit from behind. One photo a day. Echinacea purpurea, more commonly known as the Eastern purple coneflower. I was so taken by this patch that I stood in the rain shooting shot after shot with my phone. I only regretted not having my camera, because it made me so happy and "in the zone." True, simple bliss. What Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi calls "flow." One photo a day. Seriously cool conditions on Beinn Challuim today near Tyndrum in Scotland. Tough though with driving winds, thick snow and large icy sections so you had to be careful. This moment made all the hardship worth it in seconds though. I had to be quick as the light was gone moments later. So glad to have caught Mark in the image too in order to give an idea of scale. I love being up in the mountains and wish I could be there every day.
Had no fear or time to wait, but jumped the line between my hand and this flower as I was poised to snap it with my phone. So pushy! It looks to me like it's covered in pollen already. One photo a day. (268/366) -- September 24, 2020
