ENG: A backyard view with many corners, edges and reflections in the middle of the Berlin district Mitte. I discovered this large backyard by chance while walking along the Spree river near the Friedrichstraße Structure suburban train station and was immediately thrilled by the sight of the architecture and the view of the sky.
Why "Am Zirkus"? Because that's the name of the street by the building today. ☻ The street was actually called Markthallenstraße when it was built in 1865, but it was quickly renamed. Because the market hall was an economic failure. In 1873, the "Markthallen-Circus" (later taken over by the Circus Renz) opened in the building, whereupon the street was renamed, first Am Circus, since 1903 in the current spelling. Nowadays, of course, the market hall is history and in the same place stands a new building since 2014 in which there is also a hotel.

GER: Ein Hinterhof Ausblick mit vielen Ecken, Kanten und Spiegelungen inmitten des Berliner Bezirks Mitte. Ich habe diesen großen Hinterhof durch Zufall entdeckt beim Spaziergang an der Spree nahe des S-Bahnhofs Friedrichstraße und war sofort begeistert von dem Anblick der Architektur und dem Ausblick in den Himmel.
Warum „Am Zirkus“? Weil die heutige Straße am Gebäude so heißt. ☻ Eigentlich hieß die Straße bei ihrer Erbauung 1865 mal Markthallenstraße. diese wurde aber schnell umbenannt. Da die Markthalle ein wirtschaftlicher Misserfolg war. 1873 eröffnete in dem Gebäude der „Markthallen-Circus“ (später vom Circus Renz übernommen), woraufhin die Straße umbenannt wurde, zunächst Am Circus, seit 1903 in der heutigen Schreibweise. Heutzutage ist die Markthalle natürlich Geschichte und an selbige stelle steht seit 2014 ein Neubau in dem sich auch ein Hotel befindet.

The "Museuminsel" subway station is one of three of the newest subway stations in Berlin's Mitte district of the same name. It is part of the extension of the U5 underground line from Hönow deep in the east of the city beyond Alexanderplatz to Brandenburg Gate and on to the terminus at Hauptbahnhof. Construction had its groundbreaking ceremony in 2010 and it was ceremonially opened in mid-2021. The mega highlight here is the integrated starry sky. The other two new stations are also already in operation and bear the names "Rotes Rathaus" and "Unter den Linden".

GER: In meinem Smartphone Speicher liegt jetzt schon etwas länger eine kleine Bilder Serie mit 7 Fotos vom neusten U-Bahnhof Berlins. Die Rede ist hier vom U-Bahnhof Museumsinsel.
Der U-Bahnhof „Museumsinsel“ ist einer von drei der neusten U-Bahnhöfe im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte des gleichnamigen Bezirks. Er ist Teil der Verlängerung der U-Bahn-Linie U5 von Hönow tief im Osten der Stadt über den Alexanderplatz hinaus zum Brandenburger Tor bis zur Endstation Hauptbahnhof. Der Bau hatte seinen ersten Spatenstich 2010 und er wurde Mitte 2021 feierlich eröffnet. Das mega Highlight ist hier der integrierte Sternenhimmel. Die anderen zwei neuen Bahnhöfe sind ebenfalls schon in Betrieb und tragen die Namen „Rotes Rathaus“ sowie „Unter den Linden“.

The Lundberg Bakery (now known as the Old Bakery and Emporium) is an important commercial and historical landmark in Austin. Built in 1875-76 for Swedish immigrant and baker Charles Lundberg (1835-1895), it housed Lundberg's successful bakery business in the heart of the business and government districts of Austin.
Designed by architect John Didelot in early commercial style, the building is constructed of limestone with a brick facade, and features a large cast-iron eagle at the peak of the gabled roof overlooking Congress Avenue. The building remained in use as a bakery under several different owners until 1936, before finding itself the home to a variety of businesses, all the while suffering from aging. The building was bought and refurbished by the Austin Heritage Society in 1962.
Although the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1969, it was threatened with demolition the following year when a new building was planned for the Texas Department of Transportation. However, when excavations next door uncovered the foundations of the previous state capitol building (a temporary structure built in 1882), the bakery was saved and the temporary state capitol building foundations were converted to a historical plaza. The Lundberg Bakery ended up being sold to the State of Texas, which deeded the building and property to the City of Austin in 1980.
The Old Bakery and Emporium now houses the Lundberg-Maerki Historical Collection. The art gallery located on the third floor features a rotating schedule of exhibitions including artworks of local artists. The Old Bakery and Emporium operates as a consignment store spotlighting handcrafted gifts and fine art by local artisans with a visitor information center for tourist looking for fun attractions around Austin.

ENG: To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Konzerthaus on the Gendarmenmarkt, an anniversary gala and ceremony will be held this year. On May 26, 1821, the Konzerthaus Berlin ceremoniously opened with a prologue by Goethe. Less than a month later, "Der Freischütz" was premiered. It was a brilliant success: several passages were repeated after the applause. The "Jägerchor" and the song from the "Jungfernkranz" became earworms.
The Gendarmenmarkt dates back to the 17th century and is a square in the historic centre of Berlin, which is generally regarded as "Berlin's most beautiful square". In the centre is the former Royal Theatre, flanked on the south side by the German Cathedral and on the north side by the French Cathedral.
The square was built in 1688 according to plans by Johann Arnold Nering as part of the Friedrichstadt, which Elector Friedrich III, later King Friedrich I of Prussia, had built at the end of the 17th century. In this historic quarter settled a large part of the French immigrants (Huguenots), to whom the Great Elector Friedrich Wilhelm of Brandenburg with the Edict of Potsdam in 1685 had assured the protection of their religious freedom and full citizenship.

Mai 1821 eröffnete das Konzerthaus Berlin mit einem Prolog von Goethe feierlich. Knapp einen Monat später wurde «Der Freischütz» uraufgeführt. ENG: The E-Werk (originally called Umspannwerk Buchhändlerhof) is a former transformer station that has been a listed building since 1987. It was built between 1924 and 1928 according to plans by architect Hans Heinrich Müller in the brick expressionist architectural style and is located at Wilhelmstraße 43 in Berlin's Mitte district. In the 1990s, the E-Werk together with the Tresor was one of the defining venues of Berlin's techno music scene.
At that time, the power plant became necessary to cover the increasing demand for electricity and supplied, among other things, the new electric lighting system on the boulevard Unter den Linden.
Today, the ewerk in Berlin Mitte, which has been completely renovated since 2005, is an exclusive event location with an industrial atmosphere.

GER: Das E-Werk (ursprüngliche Bezeichnung: Umspannwerk Buchhändlerhof) ist ein ehemaliges und seit 1987 denkmalgeschütztes Umspannwerk. For a few days we stopped in Füssen, directly at the German-Austrian border. And since the days were very very warm, we also spent quite a long time at the Hopfensee and could enjoy this wonderful sunset.
Hopfen am See is a district of the Bavarian town of Füssen in the Swabian district of Ostallgäu in Germany and almost a stone's throw from Austria. The air and Kneipp spa, which is characterized by tourism, is located on the northern shore of the Hopfensee about four kilometers northwest of Füssen and offers a beautiful view towards the Alps.

Ein paar Tage lang hatten wir Stopp in Füssen gemacht, direkt an der deutsch-österreichischen Grenze. Und da die Tage sehr sehr warm waren, sind wir auch ziemlich lange am Hopfensee gewesen und konnten diesen wunderbaren Sonnenuntergang genießen.
Hopfen am See ist ein Stadtteil der bayerischen Stadt Füssen im schwäbischen Landkreis Ostallgäu in Deutschland und fast einen Steinwurf von Österreich entfernt. Der vom Tourismus geprägte Luft- und Kneippkurort liegt am Nordufer des Hopfensees etwa vier Kilometer nordwestlich von Füssen und bietet einen wunderschönen Blick in Richtung der Alpen.

Central Library is the main branch of the Austin Public Library system, which includes 20 branches, the Austin History Center, and a recycled bookstore.
Often referred to as Austin's "Library of the Future," Central Library opened in late 2017. The six-story, 200,000 sq. ft. building is designed to hold over 600,000 books and offers a living rooftop garden, reading porches, an indoor reading room and a bicycle corral, large indoor and outdoor event spaces, a gift shop, an art gallery and a cafe. There is even a "Technology Petting Zoo," where visitors can toy with some of the latest gadgets.

I pushed the sliders all the way up on this one to enhance the texture of the petals and the navy blue and fuschia pollen and stamens. There were two of these blooms in a bouquet of all dusty pink blooms and grey-green eucalyptus leaves. --

ENG: Recently I had time again for a stroll in the City West. So I was once again tempted to go to the KaDeWe (department store of the West). Honestly, my last visit is certainly 20 years ago. ☻ Price-wise, nothing has changed, as can be seen from the bottles of wine. Here, a bottle of wine alone has already cost from 120 euros. Purely architecturally, something has changed, as can be seen in the new escalator system. But more about that later.

GER: Letztens hatte ich mal wieder Zeit für einen Stadtbummel in der City West. So kam ich mal wieder in die Versuchung ins KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens) zu gehen. Ganz ehrlich, mein letzter Besuch ist bestimmt schon 20 Jahre her. ☻ Preislich hat sich nichts verändert, wie an den Flaschen Wein zu erkennen ist. Hier hat eine Weinflasche allein schon ab 120 Euro gekostet. Rein architektonisch hat sich schon was verändert, wie am neuen Rolltreppen System zu sehen ist. Dazu aber später mehr.

GER: Das Procom-Haus in Hamburg. Ein kleiner Rückblick meines Kurztrips zur Hansestadt Hamburg.
Zu sehen ist der Lichthof des Procom Hauses in der Altstadt von Hamburg und in direkter Nachbarschaft zum Rathaus. Fotografiert habe ich in der Twete des Hauses (eine kleine, nicht befahrbare Gasse zwischen zwei Straßen) zwischen der Mönckebergstraße und der Rathausstraße.
ENG: How do we want to live in the future? The Futurium motivates its guests to engage with different future perspectives and possibilities, and to do so in a playful way: various scenarios, an exhibition, a future lab and a forum for dialogue and discussion invite you to develop your own attitude.
The FUTURIUM building was opened on 5 September 2019 and is a kind of future museum and thus aims to answer open questions about the future. Admission is free and anyone can visit it not far from Berlin's main railway station. I personally can only recommend it. If only because the roof terrace (skywalk) offers a beautiful panoramic view over Berlin's city centre.

GER: Wie wollen wir in Zukunft leben? Das Futurium motiviert seine Gäste zur Auseinandersetzung mit verschiedenen Zukunftsperspektiven und Möglichkeiten, und das ganz spielerisch: Verschiedene Szenarien, eine Ausstellung, ein Zukunftslabor und ein Forum für Dialog und Diskussion laden dazu ein, eine eigene Haltung zu entwickeln.
Der FUTURIUM Bau wurde am 5. September 2019 eröffnet und ist eine Art Zukunfts-Museum und soll so offene Fragen der Zukunft beantworten. Der Eintritt ist Frei und darf von jedem unweit des Berliner Hauptbahnhofs besucht werden. Ich persönlich kann es nur empfehlen. Alleine schon deswegen, da die Dachterrasse (Skywalk) einen schönen Panorama Blick über Berlins Mitte bietet.

This ensemble of buildings is practically around the corner from me and yet I only became aware of it through Miss JuliSonne. Sometimes the interesting is so close.
The brick building was built in 1928 as a substation inside a closed apartment block. It was also used as such until the early 1990s. Today serves as a "creative forge" for print products and storage rooms.

Dieses Gebäudeensemble ist bei mir quasi ums Eck und trotzdem bin ich erst durch Miss JuliSonne drauf aufmerksam geworden. Manchmal liegt das Interessante so nah.
Das Backsteingebäude wurde 1928 als Umspannwerk innerhalb eines geschlossenen Wohnblocks errichtet. Als solches wurde es auch bis Anfang der 1990er Jahre genutzt. Heute dient es als "Kreativschmiede" für Druckerzeugnisse und Lagerräume.

The Volkspark am Weinberg (also Weinbergspark) is the only Volkspark in Berlin's Mitte district (in the district of the same name) and covers an area of around 4.3 hectares. It is bordered by Weinbergsweg in the southeast, Brunnenstraße in the southwest, Veteranenstraße in the northwest and Fehrbelliner Straße in the northeast. The name of the park goes back to the former vineyards that were planted there in the past. It has been a garden monument since the late 1970s.

GER: Zu sehen ist der Volkspark Teich im Weinberg Park.
Der Volkspark am Weinberg (auch Weinbergspark) ist der einzige Volkspark im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte (im gleichnamigen Bezirk) und hat eine Fläche von rund 4,3 Hektar. Er wird begrenzt durch den Weinbergsweg im Südosten, die Brunnenstraße im Südwesten, die Veteranenstraße im Nordwesten und die Fehrbelliner Straße im Nordosten. Der Name des Parks geht zurück auf die ehemaligen Weinberge, die dort früher angelegt waren. Er ist seit den späten 1970er Jahren ein Gartendenkmal.
ENG: A futuristic subway journey through the new HafenCity quarter of Hamburg on the U4 line and a view through the Skywalk tunnel that connects the subway platform with the suburban train platforms. The design of the subway station is also a small architectural highlight here, as the steel girders on the outside support the inner glass facade in the form of tubes.
The Hamburg-Elbbrücken station is a junction of the Hamburg subway (U4) and the Hamburg suburban railroad (S3, S31) in the Elbbrückenzentrum, a subquarter of HafenCity at the northern end of the Freihafenelbbrücke or Eisenbahn-Elbbrücke with a stop for the suburban railroad and a stop for the subway. Zweibrückenstrasse passes under these stations. Between them run several long-distance railroad tracks and the Freihafenelbbrücke street, which is crossed by a pedestrian bridge, the so-called "Skywalk". The plan is to provide public transport access to eastern HafenCity, parts of Rothenburgsort and northern Veddel. The junction's subway station was opened on 6 December 2018 and went into operation on 7 December 2018. The S-Bahn station was symbolically opened on 14 December 2019, with the start of operations on 15 December 2019.

Die Gestaltung des U-Bahnhofs ist auch hier ein kleines Architektonisches Highlight, da die außen liegenden Stahlträger die innere Glasfassade in Röhrenform tragen.
Der Bahnhof Hamburg-Elbbrücken ist ein Knotenpunkt der U-Bahn Hamburg (U4) und der S-Bahn Hamburg (S3, S31) im Elbbrückenzentrum, einem Teilquartier der HafenCity am nördlichen Ende der Freihafenelbbrücke bzw. der Eisenbahn-Elbbrücke mit einem Haltepunkt der S-Bahn und einer Haltestelle der U-Bahn. ENG: The underground station "Unter den Linden" is one of the two newest open underground stations in the Berlin district Mitte of the same name. It is part of the extension of the U5 underground line from Hönow deep in the east of the city beyond Alexanderplatz to Brandenburg Gate and on to the terminus at Hauptbahnhof. The construction had its ground-breaking ceremony in 2010 and it has now been ceremoniously opened on 4 December 2020 at 12 noon. The second new station also opened on 4 December and is called "Rotes Rathaus". The third and last new station will then be called "Museumsinsel" and is scheduled to open in mid-2021.

GER: Der U-Bahnhof „Unter den Linden“ ist einer von zwei der neusten offenen U-Bahnhöfe im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte des gleichnamigen Bezirks. Er ist Teil der Verlängerung der U-Bahn-Linie U5 von Hönow tief im Osten der Stadt über den Alexanderplatz hinaus zum Brandenburger Tor bis zur Endstation Hauptbahnhof. Der Bau hatte seinen ersten Spatenstich 2010 und er wurde nun am 4. Dezember 2020 um 12 Uhr feierlich eröffnet. Der zweite neue Bahnhof eröffnete ebenfalls am 04.12. und trägt den Namen „Rotes Rathaus“. Der dritte und letzte neue Bahnhof wird dann den Namen „Museumsinsel“ haben und soll Mitte 2021 erst eröffnen.
ENG: The Franciscan monastery church in Klosterstraße in Berlin's Mitte district is the ruin of a church dating back to 1250. Today it offers a view of one of Berlin's greatest landmarks. The television tower!
The ruins of the monastery church are located in a green area. Around 1270 the Franciscans introduced brick as a building material in Berlin with this construction. On the former monastery grounds, Berlin's elite school was established in 1574 with the grammar school "Zum Grauen Kloster", where Fontane and Bismarck, among others, studied. From the inside, the church was certainly one of the most beautiful churches in the city until it was badly damaged in the war. Its ruin is a memorial against the war. The walls are often used for art exhibitions, mostly sculptures.
GER: Die Franziskaner-Klosterkirche in der Klosterstraße im Berliner Stadtteil Mitte ist die Ruine eines bis auf das Jahr 1250 zurückgehenden Gotteshauses. Heute gibt sie den Blick auf eines der größten Berliner Wahrzeichen frei. Der Fernsehturm!
In einer Grünanlage befindet sich die Ruine der Klosterkirche. Um 1270 führten die Franziskaner mit diesem Bau den Backstein als Baumaterial in Berlin ein. Auf dem ehemaligen Klostergelände entstand 1574 mit dem Gymnasium "Zum Grauen Kloster" Berlins Eliteschule, in der unter anderem Fontane und Bismarck lernten. Von innen war die Kirche gewiss eine der schönsten Kirchen der Stadt, bis sie im Krieg schwer beschädigt wurde. Ihre Ruine ist ein Mahnmal gegen den Krieg. In den Mauern werden des öfteren Kunstausstellungen, meist Skulpturen, gezeigt. Die Ruine ist öffentlich und somit auch frei zugänglich.

My original photo was a spontaneous handheld iPhone shot. I think I did a pretty good job of holding still through the long exposure, but not good enough to capture the details of the clouds and halo around the almost-full moon. The iPhone night mode comes out too light, and the colors get saturated when the exposure is toned down. Still, i liked the Van Gogh-like colors of the sky. Finally, I thought this would be a good subject for the Prisma AI app, and was pleased to see what several did with moon and sky. This was my favorite. Perfect for Sliders Sunday.
