This photo was incredibly difficult for me to post, I think it's the 12th attempt to upload it. I'd never want our previous photo to not be my latest; it means so much to me.
I hope one day we get the opportunity to take more together. Those who are reading this, I want you to know; this photo was created & is dedicated to Aubrei & hun if you see it, please believe me when I say, the lyrics have never meant so much.
I only recall seeing snowdrop once in my life, well maybe more than once but only in one place -- at my Dad's place, 30 years ago, give or take.
A few days ago, someone posted a snowdrops photo on a local FB page, but I lost track of it, so I couldn't ask the poster where it was taken.
I did have a general idea from another photo that they posted along with it, so I went downtown to look. I wasn't having much luck until I thought that I saw something down a side street. I found them in a very narrow strip of garden between the house and sidewalk.
I wasn't up to squatting, so I shot with my 70-200 lens, more or less from a standing position. While it is not the best photo in the world, under the circumstances, I am more or less pleased with finding snowdrops and photographing them for the first time ever.
If we have a nice day soon, I may return with a macro lens, but I am still not keen about getting my old bones down on an urban sidewalk, so we shall see.

I am Teal
Today I was asked... what is your color?
If we were in a world where every person would be one color only...
Which one would you be?
My answer is TEAL, teal is the answer I'd go for
First of all, teal isn't a very common color, most people don't even know
What teal is... Teal is the thin line between green and blue
It's a bit like aqua, but that's not really true
It's a bit hard to explain, but I'll try anyway, here I go
The color green, to me, represents the deepest, strongest feeling
Of happiness. Happiness and hope are what green is to me
Green is such a bright lively color, its hard to see
How it can be seen otherwise, by anyone or anything
As for blue... have you ever heard the expression "feeling blue?"
Blue is a lovely color, but often it seems to depress
Me, especially when in form of eyes, inserts in me a feeling of distress
A feeling that says: "These eyes you behold aren't meant to look at you"
But all this is taking me away from the main attraction, teal
Like I said before, teal, between blue and green, is the line
Also between happiness and sadness, the line that will define
Which color is more appropriate, which emotion is real
You may say that's being two-faced, you may say I cannot feel
One way or another, but that's a lie
Every day I feel, I will feel until I die
Because I am Teal...

Sverd i fjell (English: Swords in Rock) is a commemorative monument located in the county of Hafrsfjord, in Madla which is in the city of Stavanger (in Norway).
The monument was created by sculptor Fritz Røed from Bryne and was unveiled by king Olav V of Norway in 1983. The three swords stand 10 metres tall and are planted into the rock of a small hill next to the fjord. They commemorate the historic Battle of Hafrsfjord that took place there in the year 872, when King Harald Fairhair gathered all of Norway under one crown.
The largest sword represents the victorious Harald, and the two smaller swords represent the defeated petty kings. The monument also represents peace, since the swords are planted into solid rock, whence they may never be removed.

Several days ago, I visited with a friend of mine and he mentioned that he and his wife took my advice and finally headed to the Sol Duc forest to see the abundant greens that are a huge part of this area. To my sadness, they did not see rich greens, but rather dull and stressed moss beds devoid of water. The summer drought on the Olympic Peninsula was serious stuff.
I felt bad enough, that I made a large print up similar to the effort above, yet horizontal, and gave it to them!
I will head here again in the late fall, hopefully to find a rush of moving water and a rebound of the lush green forest!

Another from a couple days ago. No textures this time. Hope they withstand the snow blanket on them tonight. I love crocuses..wish they were around all summer.
I had a couple of magnificent late July sunset photoshoots on One Tree Hill, near where I live. There are many points of elevation known as One Tree Hill. This is the one just outside Devizes in Wiltshire, also known as Potterne Hill, after the parish in which it lies.
It's a bit tatty....but it's the only one after 8 packets I could find with a fitting message!

Despite the fact it is a state requirement to wear a mask people still need to be reminded.
Elsewhere more signs are popping up outside of stores saying "No Mask No Service"
I remember to wear mine and I like to remember when we didn't have to. If it helps slow the spread I really am happy to wear a mask.

I been really sick the last few days with some kind of intestinal virus that ran through my family. I'm still dealing with it but I feel better enough today to post something on Flickr.
I wanted to do more Instax photos but I just don't feel well enough to go out and take photos right now, so it will have to wait for a bit. So here's an older one that I like, I feel like it has meaning even though its just old plant from last year.

my daughter turns three on sunday and will be celebrating with family at disneyland. shown here with her mickey mouse clubhouse cake (a work of art), she celebrated with friends last wednesday. just another ”better than a red bull” moment.
I saw the first ruby-crowned kinglet of the season today (my last recorded sighting was April 27). They are a fall to spring bird here in Olympia. Unfortunately, I have pretty incomplete records for them, largely because until I added more water features to the yard they rarely came in from the perimeter shrubs or down from the canopy to where I could readily observe them. Well just look who I saw today !!
I am going along walking to the shops and this character was just sat there at the side of the road taking in the view . Not wanting to look obvious I just took a shot from the hip pointing blindly and I was so surprised I actually got the shot and reasonably sharp and ok exposed . You can see the full shot in the first comment box .
I wonder if I might turn into one of those blurry messes one sees on Google Street View ??
I was quite taken with this particular zinnia bloom down in the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse garden yesterday.

I have to say that this week has been really hard for me. But life goes on...

I finally found a doggie daycare that my puppy enjoyed, so I may be able to go out birding again as I did the other day. Of course, I have to relearn everything. It's so easy for me to forget the correct camera settings to take the shot that I want.
But fortunately, even though I was unpracticed, I was able to get some Hummingbird shots that I like. So you will see some of them interspersed with my Iceland shots.
