I took this picture in Oaxaca during one of my neighborhood walks. The mural is on a busy street, but fortunately, the curb in front of it is painted yellow, so cars can't park there and block the view. I lingered across the street for a few minutes as people passed by, and I was able to capture a few shots.

I need you back
Here with me
Why don't you return
Are you scared
That you might not want
To leave me?
It is time to find me again
Where it all began
It is time to find yourself
Where your life
Opened right up
And you could really see
I have been calling you
Calling for so long now
You have heard me
Not forgotten me
But you are denying me
Why is that so?
Leave it all now
Answer my love for you
Let me remind you
Of what I am to you
You have always known
What we can do
This image is calling me, to go back. And I must answer. I thought I would place this work up here at this point as I have been reflecting on my journey of sharing my work after many years of seclusion. This image reminds me of when things started to connect for me after a tumultuous time in 2019.
Then my dear friend the vicar [who quite frankly saved my sanity back in 2019] persuaded me that other people would really like to see my work, that he was convinced that it had some value and possible qualities to it that could help and comfort them. I didn't know what was going to happen or if anybody would respond to my work. I set up a website on Wix.com, and using their design editor, I designed how I wanted the site to look. I knew how I wanted it to appear, as the poetry and images are meant to be seen together, as they are deeply connected. It took me over five months and many long hours.
Then I decided to join Flickr as I liked the format and the way people were interacting. It seemed to me a platform that would suit me better than some others. I saw that people were also writing about their images, experiences and poetry. But I still didn't know if people would respond. Nobody knew me on here, nobody in my life except my partner knew I was thinking of joining. Nobody until recently knew I even took photographs.
On another social site I have remained a bit niche, shall we say, but I have met some nice people on there.
However, on here it seems to be a different story and after nearly eight months, I have been constantly surprised and delighted that you seem to like this melancholic, empathetic photographer and poet. Thank you to all who have viewed, faved and commented. You have got me over the 100,000K mark and counting, and things seem to have changed a bit.
So I will keep going and we will see where it leads. There will be patches of time where I am working on my pieces and then I will load the work up on here and my website. The good thing is that I have a backlog of work to do stored in my files! I am compelled to do this work, as it gives me great peace and joy, and I enjoy sharing it with you all.
Forgive me in the future if I have to do a 'multi-thank you' on some of the work if there are lots of faves; I shall always endeavour to answer comments as usual, but now more people have found me, I felt that I just wanted to to let you know that I still appreciate your generosity.
But while this work of mine is still forthcoming and I am able to create it I sense I must do just that. I am in my middle years, I do not have time to waste.
I hope that you will continue to accompany me on my creative and spiritual journey and enjoy the work that appears!
Best Wishes, and thank you again, Shelley.

I know that there is just a hint in the air that Autumn is not too far away, but this House Finch thought perhaps it was Halloween. It certainly looks to be impersonating Batman.
I did take a number of shots of this guy with those tufts of feathers sticking straight up, and although other images had better poses, this one to me had the best Batman look. I assume it is a youngster going through an awkward stage. I have noticed a couple of the young males are just getting a few pinkish-reddish barely noticeable patches on their chests.
Well, you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill, but you're so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks
Now I'm trying to get back
Before the cool done run out
I'll be giving it my bestest
And nothing's gonna stop me but divine intervention.
I reckon, it's again my turn
To win some or learn some.
But I won't hesitate
No more, no more.
It cannot wait,
I'm yours.
Well, open up your mind and see like me,
Open up your plans and damn you're free.
Look into your heart and you'll find love, love, love, love.
Listen to the music of the moment, people dance and sing, we're just one big family
And it's our God-forsaken right to be loved, loved, loved, loved, loved
So I won't hesitate
No more, no more.
It cannot wait,
I'm sure.
There's no need to complicate.
Our time is short.
This is our fate,
I'm yours.
Do you want to come on, scooch on over closer, dear
And I will nibble your ear
I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and I laughed.
I guess what I'll be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons.
It's what we aim to do.
Our name is our virtue.
But I won't hesitate
No more, no more.
It cannot wait,
I'm yours.
Well, open up your mind and see like me,
Open up your plans and damn you're free.
Look into your heart and you'll find that the sky is yours.
So please don't, please don't, please don't...
There's no need to complicate.
'Cause our time is short.
This oh, this oh, this is our fate.
I'm yours.
Oh, I'm yours
Oh, I'm yours
Oh, oh,
Baby, do you believe, I'm yours?
You best believe, you best believe, I'm yours.
I was always fascinated by the blaze of sun, bright light reflecting from the surface of the sea.. It feels alive...
When I asked my animals who would like to be my bling model for this weeks Smile on Saturday I never dreamed Marco The Dragon would volunteer. Turns out he loves shinny things, and he thinks "MORE is better!"
This weeks Smile on Saturday theme is 'wearing jewellery' [4-Mar-2023].

and waited, and waited. I really wanted to see a train go through this stretch of track. No train came along while I was there. I was bummed. Maybe another day.

I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul.

Last year I swapped some home grown tomato plants for a plant I've never grown in my garden, Teasel. I'm pleased to say several teasel were given to me and once they flowered they where enjoyed by lots of insects especially bees. Today I got a paper in the mail from the cardigan museum. I'm invited for the jobinterview! It'll be later this week...
To stimulate my luck I've been wearing a cardigan to work everyday now. And today even two. My boss noticed. She said I looked very smart in my cardigans. I blushed...
As I'm a bit nervous for the jobinterview (because I really want the job), I'm testing which of my cardigans (I own around 12) are the smartest, styliest, prettiest and most comfortable.
I still don't know what to wear to the interview as I don't know how they'll judge me. I guess I need lots of advise.
What do you think of this combination?

I was in the mountains for some days. Somehow they are still missing snow in the area of Vals, but it was wonderful for a walk.
I caught this Black-crowned night heron landing in the cattails and reeds before he tucked its wings. Last evening we watched a sunset and we saw more black-crowned night herons than at any time before, they were lying in wait.
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night...

The truth is I think ketchup is only ok though I am brand loyal to Heinz. I have some different variations on this idea that I will work on over the next little while. Writing in ketchup was a little slow, I had to start over several times and still didn't get the spacing quite right.
A far-off gaze is wide in me
Can you feel it?

I just spent all my money, but I rocked that like it don't cost a thing.
Got a catwalk for a closet on my last lonely dollar, lock me up before I hit the store.
Just because I'm losing
Doesn't mean I'm lost
Doesn't mean I'll stop
Doesn't mean I will crossJust because I'm hurting
Doesn't mean I'm hurt
Doesn't mean I didn't get what I deserved
No better and no worseI just got lost
Every river that I tried to cross
Every door I ever tried was locked
Oh and I'm just waiting 'til the shine wears off
I was starting to doubt the existence of Black-Crowned Night Herons until I went back to Millet Pond (Tri-Cities Area) and saw... ten.
Here's one flying.
I took this in my neighbour's yard. She told me I could walk around her yard whenever I want. I have the greatest neighbours!

Initially I was aiming to take photos of a hang glider which was a bit too far away to get a good photo. While doing so there was so much glare that in this shot I totally missed the hang glider. No matter though. I like this shot better. Aiming at the sun is reportedly not good for the lens, so hopefully nothing happened to it in the short time it took to take this photo.
Empty stone train K911 rolls west around the curve in Jenison behind a clean former LMS C40-8W and an HLCX SD40-2. At the time, the new I-196 interchange with Chicago Drive was being built, which drastically changed the look of this location upon its completion. The remnants of the old M-21/Baldwin St grade crossing (in front of the 7924) were finally removed during this time as well. The crossing was somewhat famous among local fans due to the fact that it hosted the last wig wag in the area into the late 1980s.

WIT: West Side Story is one of my favourite musicals, and I love the 1961 movie, even though Natalie Wood did not really sing.
I took this picture right after I ran my Zoom music recitals - I was so nervous, being my first attempt at this. It went well - I was so relieved, and happy. I wore makeup for the first time since the middle of March when the lockdown started, and also the first time I wore a dress too, lol!
Don't Give Up - Peter Gabriel et Kate Bush
in this proud land we grew up strong
we were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail
no fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
I've changed my face, I've changed my name
but no one wants you when you lose
don't give up
'cos you have friends
don't give up
you're not beaten yet
don't give up
I know you can make it good
though I saw it all around
never thought I could be affected
thought that we'd be the last to go
it is so strange the way things turn
drove the night toward my home
the place that I was born, on the lakeside
as daylight broke, I saw the earth
the trees had burned down to the ground
don't give up
you still have us
don't give up
we don't need much of anything
don't give up
'cause somewhere there's a place
where we belong
rest your head
you worry too much
it's going to be alright
when times get rough
you can fall back on us
don't give up
please don't give up
'got to walk out of here
I can't take anymore
going to stand on that bridge
keep my eyes down below
whatever may come
and whatever may go
that river's flowing
that river's flowing
moved on to another town
tried hard to settle down
for every job, so many men
so many men no-one needs
don't give up
'cause you have friends
don't give up
you're not the only one
don't give up
no reason to be ashamed
don't give up
you still have us
don't give up now
we're proud of who you are
don't give up
you know it's never been easy
don't give up
'cause I believe there's the a place
there's a place where we belong
I usually like to spend my weekends in my holiday home. The sunset glow and magic clouds were photographed at my tiny garden on the villa's roof. I hope the cherry tree at the left will be in full blossoming this year because the weather is too hot in winter for cherry blossoms here.
I often ask myself: what makes people do photography? What makes the heart beat faster and more often when you see this world and its wonders ... The photographer is just a point in the reflections ...

I'm finding that I am just as much in love with the leaf beginnings as the ends.
The dogwoods are gearing up to do their thing.
I call this The Singing Tree as it always look like it's in full song.
"When I Grow Up" is a song from the musical Matilda. Its music and lyrics were written by Tim Minchin. Based on the book Matilda by Roald Dahl. The book Matilda is about bright little girl who is very eager to learn. Eventually, her insensitive parents send her to a school run by Miss (The) Trunchbull. She is a cruel authoritarian that loathes children. Matilda befriends her school teacher, Miss Honey.
The book was a favourite book read for my children growing up. I too loved the book and many years later I love the musical and I love this song and the lyrics AND I love Tim Minchin.
