The Catholic Guy visits U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz
KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany - U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz welcomed Lino Rulli, “The Catholic Guy,” this week to our area to interview Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, civilians, family members. Rulli was at Landstuhl’s Wilson Barracks on Dec. 16 and at Sembach Kaserne Dec. 17 to record shows for Sirius XM digital radio.
Rulli’s two-hour talk show runs five days a week on the Catholic Channel on Sirius XM digital radio – a very large national audience. The Catholic Guy show discusses life, religion, and theology in a humorous fashion through the eyes of an average Catholic guy.
Catholic Soldiers, civilians and family members took part as did Army chaplain Jim Betz. Gary Gnidziejko, from the U.S. Army Reserve’s 7th Civil Support Command and the Knights of Columbus did a great job supporting Rulli’s visit.

I should have posted this on the anniversary of Guy Fawkes Day, November 5th, when Britain is set ablaze with firework celebrations. Where he was born, in York, is now a flammable pub. Seems appropriate.
From Wikipedia:
"Wintour introduced Fawkes to Robert Catesby, who planned to assassinate King James I and restore a Catholic monarch to the throne. The plotters secured the lease to an undercroft beneath the House of Lords, and Fawkes was placed in charge of the gunpowder they stockpiled there. Prompted by the receipt of an anonymous letter, the authorities searched Westminster Palace during the early hours of 5 November, and found Fawkes guarding the explosives. Over the next few days, he was questioned and tortured, and eventually he broke. Immediately before his execution on 31 January, Fawkes jumped from the scaffold where he was to be hanged and broke his neck, thus avoiding the agony of the mutilation that followed.
Fawkes became synonymous with the Gunpowder Plot, the failure of which has been commemorated in England since 5 November 1605. His effigy is often burned on a bonfire, commonly accompanied by a firework display."
I miss this guy still to this day. He fell asleep at the wheel driving from the Bay Area to San Diego. He was having trouble at home and was supposed to wait for me to get off work and we were going to take off together to cool his head. He got in a fight with his dad and took off without me. I still can't help thinking that if he would have just waited 2 more hours he would still be here with me today.
One of my favorite stories about Larry:
After burning one at Del Mar Skate Ranch with Steve Steadham one day, he slammed the car door on Tony Hawks leg as they were getting out and he could not skate that day. We laughed because Tony was a freaking kook and skated like a robot.
