Originally a photojournalist, Guy Tillim has spent a large part of his career documenting social conflict in Africa for media agencies including Reuters and Agence France-Presse.

Of his project Avenue Patrice Lumumba Tillim explains, “Modernist architecture was the hook on which I hung the project, but it is not about that architecture – it’s not a survey. Rather, these were the places that I had got to know while working as a photojournalist; I had always been struck by the bizarre stage that they provided.”

FGR - Night Owls

The 5th of November on which I copy and paste a guy fawkes mask on my head.

I failed to capture the night picture I wanted, but succeeded in breaking my lens. No seriously, I knocked over my tripod and shattered at least the filter...maybe more but I hope not. I tried taking another picture with it and it does seem to still work despite the huge crack...so hopefully it will keep working until I get a new filter and hopefully a new lens. Xmas is coming, maybe I'll be blessed.

With the blast shield down he can't even see. How is he supposed to order a drink?

When this guy walked into the Hoth Ice Bar, Jason Fry, John Hazlett, Sterling Hershey, and several more of us started wondering why Han had such a helmet lying around on the Falcon and why anyone would have built one in the first place. The outcome of this drunken ramble might see print in Jason's Essential Guide to Warfare in 2011.
