An westbound eastbound out of Rapid City, SD, bound for Huron, makes its way past the Wasta Sand Plant. The original plan here was to shoot a nice wide angle with the Cheyenne River in the background, but the shadows beat the train, and I ended up with this nice tele-veritical crop instead.
I spent a week in Rapid City on vacation with the family; glancing at the RCPE yard there on a daily basis, I was pleased that all of the power I saw (12-15 locomotives, I think) was still all blue and yellow.
Big tip of the hat to Emily for tucking in the boys that night; was awesome chasing this train into Wall.

Y es que con esta estación tenia una cuenta pendiente, pues ya estuve una vez, pero tan solo 1 hora. Este año, aprovechando que nos dirigíamos a los pirineos navarros, estuvimos casi un dia entero en Miranda. A pesar de que hubo bastantes mercantes suprimidos, imagino, por ser agosto, la cosa no estuvo nada mal. Gracias al personal de la estación por su amabilidad; espero volver pronto.

An eastbound Union Pacific train climbs the hill east of Arlington, NE on the first day of 2024. This view would've been pretty well obscured by trees until Union Pacific completed grade work for a second main track over a decade ago, which has obviously never been built. I've always meant to get a shot here since then, and I'm glad things finally came together to check it off the list.
New Haven Railroad DEY-4 class GE 44 ton switcher 0801, an early version with side radiator grills in the all dark green paint scheme, is seen at an unknown location, ca mid late 1940's. this version of the GE 44 ton locomotive was delivered to the railroad in 1941. It appears that this may be the location for passenger station. The people seen in this scen may be passengers or railroad enthusiasts.

Eastbound trains - the nearest one with five locos - pass at Crowsnest before continuing the steep climb. The train on the right awaits a fresh crew. 14th May 2025.
After switching Kleet Lumber in Huntington the RS91 is seen passing Syosset station making the slow trek back to Fresh Pond Yard. The RS90 is designated as an extra crew, doing the duties of the abolished RS40 this week.
Three slug sets bring Q505 into Osborn Yard at Louisville. I think this is might be the only time I've seen slug sets only on a CSX road train...I remember the folks at the yard asking the engineer if anyone up in Cincy liked them for dumping this power on their train!
One of CSX's 20 SD70ACes and a YN1 SD40-2 bring Q275 through Glendale mid-day...complete with high sun directly over the tracks.
Un train du Roberval & Saguenay, aujourd'hui opéré par Rio Tinto, roule vers l'Est et passe à Chicoutimi, au sud de Saguenay. L'unité 50, en tête du train, a été construite en 1970 pour l'AT&SF. Les 3 U23-S7 reconstruites que possédait le RS ont été retirés du service, la 50 en 2015 et les 51/52 en 2019.

A Roberval & Saguenay train, nowadays operated by Rio Tinto, runs eastwards and passes by Chicoutimi, south of Saguenay. Unit 50, leading the train, was built in 1970 for AT&SF. The three rebuilts U23-S7s that the RS owned were retired from service, unit 50 in 2015 and 51/52 in 2019.

Lo peor que le puede pasar a uno al llegar a casa, despues de 5 dias de trenes por diferentes sitios: las fotos de la camara no se ven. Gracias a un conocido informatico, las he podido recuperar, y espero ir subiendolas poco a poco.
Volviendo a la foto; esperabamos en Vilches Carlos y yo al Comsa La Negrilla - El Espartal. Rezabamos por que no trajera la 102, pero de poco sirvio. Aun asi, una buena tarde de trenes, como no, gracias a la compañia de Carlos.

So I got a phone call this day (May14, 1995) from Munger, saying the CCP dropped off a coal tran the night before and he knew the EJ&E would be coming up to get it. So as I get down there, the trio of J SD38s (654, 656 and J-Ball 664) have just dropped down the interchange track to tie onto the coal for Gary, IND. But the scanner indicates CC&P train #51 is approaching too--Chicago Central GP38 #2004 leading eight additional Geeps hustle 98 cars toward Freeport and beyond.
NS 211 rumbles southbound into Temple, PA at CP Laurel with NS 8025 leading, passing an overturned covered hopper awaiting disposition.
