RUPO makes its way from Rumford to Portland with a trio of GP40's. MEC 305 leads a decent sized train through the fields at Bishops. Late spring provides a variety of angles here since the corn hasn't started growing yet, but everything has started greening up.

After a relaxing night camping along the Clark Fork over the Fourth of July holiday, Minturn the Beagle watches a Montana Rail Link train roll by on the morning of July 5, 2023. We didn’t expect much to run on MRL’s Fourth Sub since the mainline bridge over the Yellowstone River was out near Reed Point, but the railroad decided to run one with local traffic led a lone BNSF leader anyway. Minturn did great on his first long camping trip and was fun to have along on the adventure. It sure beats last year when we had to cut his trip short after getting bit by a rattlesnake on Logan Hill in Wyoming—and obviously he made it, thankfully! Both he and I are ready to do it all over again!

CN's SD75I's mostly have large noodles on their nose (the way they were delivered), but this one (CN 5735) has been repainted and has a smaller noodle on the nose, like CN SD70I's mostly have. It leads CN 401 through Montreal West, with CN 2543 & CN 4107 trailing. Behind the train is a short tunnel that will soon be demolished.

CN 368 has the GT heritage unit (CN 8952 in fresh GT paint) last out as it passes Beaconsfield just after it had met counterpart CN 369. Ahead are CN 2285, CN 5684 & CN 5776. With only CN 2285 on-line (and restricted to notch 7), this 117-car train is not making track speed.
Anyone with friends from Minnesota on social media probably saw pictures yesterday of the dusting of snow we got. I found out early on in my time in this beautiful state that snow in October is not rare at all. This was my first introduction to it back in 2009. It was more substantial than what I saw yesterday and a couple of days earlier, with a couple of inches falling in the morning hours of October 12 (Indigenous People's Day or Columbus Day that year). I drove over to Glenwood from Brooten to see what I could find in terms of trains. The first thing I encountered was eastbound hotshot 198 dusting the snow off the tracks nicely as it flew around the curve at MP 110 near Sedan. I still don't know if I've seen that much snow built up on the railhead in one of my pictures since then.
This new overpass at Kent, MN has been in place for a while, but this is my first chance to get a picture of a train from it. Fortunately, this southbound crude oil train had to wait for a meet at Wolverton, allowing the sun to rise far enough through the smokey haze and provide decent light to the scene.
The previous night was quite a doozy for the RS51 crew after an open door dragging on one of the hopper cars. The problem was found on their move west in the town of Farmingdale forcing their train to come to a stop fouling multiple crossings throughout the town. Instead of continuing their journey east they ended up shoving their train back to PW where they left it for the next night.
A pair of ex-CSX GEs are tied up just east of East Deerfield Yard on a POED that apparently hadn't moved in over two days. The PanAm had a rough few days leading up to this photo so I'm not surprised if it sat a bit longer.

Freightliner Class 90 electric locomotives 90015 and 90041 "Pete Waterman OBE" come to a halt on platform 4 at Stafford station working 4L67 10.20 Trafford Park Freightliner Terminal to Felixstowe North Freighliner Terminal. Despite having a flashing yellow aspect signal the train was held in the station for approximately 10 minutes before continuing its journey. Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino 390001 can be seen on platform 3 with 1H65 10.33 London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly.
