Five locomotives on the Lancaster and Chester Railroad work the sidings in Richburg, South Carolina back in 2013. They will then head off toward Lancaster and eventually the ADM plant in Kershaw.

This shot is only possible for about three weeks a year around Christmas.
With more time this year, I hope to get a similar shot but better.
In the weekend of 23 and 24 January the Betuweroute was closed due engineeringwork in Germany. All the freight trains were diverted via the Brabantroute. A great oppertunity to spot the freighttrains at Hulten, a smaal village east of Breda. On this picture the 189 053 & 046 from DB Cargo are on there way to Rotterdam with an empty ironoretrain

A freightliner headed by what looks to be a virtually new class 87 electric locomotive, heads south on the WCML through Tamworth.

Unit autorack train CN 271 has CN 8880 & CN 2304 as it sits at Dorval in the rain. It is waiting here until VIA 633 (seen at right) makes its station stop and then departs.
New Haven Railroad westbound manifest freight train is operating on an express track while being led by EMD GP9 # 1218, FM H16-44 # 1609 & ALCO FA-1 locomotives which is about to pass by tower SS38 at Stamford, Connecticut, winter 1968. This train could almost be called The Snow Cone Special with all of the snow seen on top of the boxcars during the winter season. An old round roof MUT is situated to the far right in the background and a one car eastbound passenger train can be seen in the distance with a two car consist. Bob Hughes was able to take this photo form his tower location.
DB-Cargo 6428 just picked-up a set of 17 freightcars loaded with limeslurry. The loco will bring the train to Lage Zwaluwe where a set of B-logistic locomotives will take over the train and bring them to their final destination Virton in Belgium.

Slug CN 274 and GP9 CN 7272 are pulling empties out of Robin Hood mill at the end of the East Side Canal Bank Spur. Once a common sight along both sides of the Lachine Canal, trains are now very rare, with Robin Hood mill being the only rail-served client along the length of the entire canal.
EMDX 1607 & 1608 are the rear DPU's on a northbound coal empty from Pueblo as they roll through a very green Larkspur. These two units had been making the rounds testing on various railroads in the summer of 2017, and when BNSF's turn came they put them on the rear of this Comanche empty, which they cycled on between Pueblo and Wyoming for more than a month. Sadly BNSF decided against purchasing any.
EMDX 1607 & 1608 were slated to become UP 3008 & 3009 respectively (hence the yellow paint) before UP decided to buy regular old SD70AH's instead. I believe EMDX 1607 ended up at the TTCI center in Pueblo; 1608 may be there as well, couldn't find any good info as to its current whereabouts.

Having crossed Cornelius Pass, a short Burlington Northern 664 train enters the Astoria Line at United Junction, Oregon. The train's caboose can be seen near the junction switch. That track curving to the right in the distance goes to St. Helens and Astoria.
